I enjoyed how fast paced it was, but I might have to read it again to understand the story better, it was the last chapter that confused me. Like what happened to Rusty-James after the pet shop robbery? And why was he on the beach with Steve? Did something happen that just didn’t get mentioned??

3 stars- enjoyable :)
Reminded me of both The Outsiders and Catcher in the Rye. The protagonist, Rusty-James (who reminds me of Holden Caulfield) is the tough kid in town, following in his older brother’s footsteps. He goes through tough events but still rises, which I respect. His older brother nicknamed the Motorcycle Boy, has a different perspective on the world and is a legend in the town. They both try to navigate life with an alcoholic father and mother who abandoned them. The metaphors and character development throughout the book made one think before turning the page and even after finishing the book. The bravery, loyalty, curiosity, and courage in this book is so inspiring. I also loved the friendships that portrayed devotion and kindness. Some boring parts and some metaphors were hard to understand, but I gave it 3 stars for the nostalgia, quirky characters, entertaining action, and meaningful metaphors. If you liked The Outsiders and Catcher in the Rye, you will DEFINITELY like this book! :)
