Kenya Wright wrote her first novel during her third year at UM Law school. She dropped out a month after the release and never looked back.

Words are power,
and Kenya wants to be the greatest wizard that ever lived.

It's an audacity to inspire
and teach the healing of love through arousal.

It's this crazy idea that love
can not only help a reader escape,
but the story can also teach the person
about being human,
while making them laugh,
cry,
and hot for more sex.

Full of action but it was kind of dumb !? 🙃 I just feel like the author jumps into way to many plot points and never fully address them. There are still mysteries and secrets from previous books that could have been solved in this book and have them not affect anything that happened in this book. It feels as if the author is piling on unnecessary plots with no regards to how it would affect the story and characters.

Also the inconsistency with her characters and grammatical errors takes away from the story. For example, she would write saying one character is there but mixes up her characters names and the book goes on like nothing happened. I just feel like this book needed more editing and correction.

I can't believe that from a 5* read in the beginning of this series that I am now down to a 3 * rating!

I know I am in the minority here with my rating, don't get me wrong the writing is fantastic and the manner in which Kenya takes you on the journey with Emily and Kazimir is outstanding. You feel like you are right there with them. However the main characters is what is disappointing me and frustrating me.

Right from the beginning of this series we where given this hype about Kazimir, about how he is ruthless and feared that he made a name for himself so that he became ruler of the Bratva rather than Sasha due to his ferociousness.

Well, we got less and less of this as the series went along.

I HATED that we had to see Jean Pierre and Kazimir fighting and that Kazimir had to flee with his tail between his legs. I wanted Kazimir to win the fight as he is supposed to be the leader of one of the most powerful organisations in the world and he got defeated. It was bad enough that he was attacked in his own hotel room while having sex(once again) that no one knew that Jean Pierre and his men had entered their suite UNNOTICED! This for me is a grave error and I am unable to move on from this sore point!!!!!!!!

I HATED that Kazimir was not actively involved in finding out who was responsible for the monkey head situation and how someone could enter his bedroom without a trace, wipe out security footage and calmly hand over the job to someone else and then decided that going to Paris was a good idea!
oh and the situation was still not resolved after they came back from Paris.

I HATED that Kazimir was unable to find Emily after her kidnapping, she found him. It was also getting a bit old that Emily continues to save him, where is the big bad mob boss that rules the world?

Emily is still annoying me greatly with her reckless behavior and her attitude towards her possible pregnancy. She still comes across as crass and I really don't like her attitude of doing as she pleases without a care in the world of how this will look for Kazimir. But then again no one seems to take Kazimir seriously as he keeps getting defeated.

This series is starting to feel like a never ending story with a whole lot of comedy of errors thrown in and it is dragging on way too long with nothing getting resolved. We are always seeing Kazimir in a very unAlpha role and I really don't like it.

I am kind of wondering if I should read Dirty Passion

Repetitive, repetitive, repetitive

I love Kaz and Emily but there was no forward progression in this book. Just another slew of activities around her kidnapping. We already knew she had returned to Kaz. There are still many issues to resolve. The rating stars are for the author's writing, not for the repetitive storyline. Kaz and Emily's story started out really strong, but it now seems as if the author is just filling up the pages. I don't want to lose interest, but...

Better than Dirty Hearts, but still lacking for me....

So, I was highly disappointed after book three, and was ready for this book to serve as redemption. While Dirty Minds was better than Dirty Hearts, it still did not measure up to books one and two. There was just too much going on and two many storylines started with no conclusion.

For instance, we find out about the monkey heads in the BEGINNING of book three (and the chimpanzee heads somewhere in the middle); now here we are at the end of book four and there is still no conclusion. The buildup of this storyline was not worth the delay. This could have been put off until it received it's proper focus. And with the way this book ended, it seems like this issue still will not get the focus it needs.

While Kaz and everyone searching Paris for Emily was exciting, I was over it not being resolved by like 60% through the book. I personally didn't feel like that needed an entire book. By the end of the book I felt bad for Kazimier and Emily, but had to yawn a little at Kaz gearing up for war, AGAIN. I can already expect for that to be drawn out just by the information the bratva brother's grandma provided with her tarot cards. I'm ready for Kaz and Emily to have their happily ever after and ride off into the sunset, and move on from this series.

No real ending

Still no real ending. Lion is going off the rails the future doesn’t look too great. Wanted a solid ending, still no monkey head guy, where is misha?, who is lion’s right hand guy? Valentina’s kid? Still no answers.

Editing...

Can't say it enough, this book needs better editing. It messes up the story. It takes your mind out of the action when you have to mentally correct bad grammar, spelling, repeated words or sentences...

*******Re-read still as fantastic as the first time!***** 10/19-10/19

A MUST READ

I am at a loss for words!!! DAMNNNNNN this ish was so freaking good. I ABSOLUTELY love the dual POV's. This book is insane. I am freaking in luuurrrvvvveree with Kazimir. In this book it picks up from Dirty Hearts and Kaz, after so much bloody killing, (love that by the way, Lol) finally gets his Mysh back. But at what cost? There were so many intense moments and that reunion? PRICELESS!!! Kaz loves Emily so much that the fear of ever losing her again, has him crazed. There is going to be so much more bloodshed before this story is over, so much more death. Alas, what else can Kaz do but kill them all for kidnapping his Mysh and causing the death of his future away from him? I totally get him but I must admit that I don't want Jean-Pierre or Eden to die. I really hope Ms. Wright finds a way, for that not too happen. These two women, Emily and Eden have been through enough, I think. Another wonderful, well written, in-depth, scorching, nail biting, filled to the rafters with humor and laugh out loud moments read. ****5 WONDROUS, AWESOME, THE LION AND THE MOUSE FILLED WITH HEART, REVENGE AND DEATH, WAR IS COMING STARS****

Nothing New

The same story over again. I’ve given up hope. I wished only half the story was a different point of view and not 90% of the book.

This book has been the best out of all of the books in this series and I think it's because if you read The Violinist series, then this series may seem like a recap. Dirty Minds was funny, gut-wrenching and had the action and romance that I wanted.

Not my fave

My go to for a great read is usually a Kenya book but this one was tedious. I felt like this book was good that it gave us Kaz point of view but I don't like that our heros are pit against each other. This is the first time I have never liked a heroine, Emily to me is annoying and reckless and could have easily been hurt and killed many times by Jean Pierre and his family. Yes In the first book Emily was kinda sorta cute because her character was different and tough now it's repetitive and tedious anytime we see any of her actions or plans even kazimer sister is a big no for me and unnecessarily annoying and obnoxious this is the first book of Kenya that I found was hard to finish but I did only because I wanted to see where it was heading or maybe see Kaz and Jean Pierre squash this beef, but the way Kaz and Emily act it really makes me want the French crew to finish them both off especially the way they think they are untouchable and Kaz under estimating Jean Pierre and at least not giving him the courtesy of listening to man when he is simply doing what you would have done if someone under Jean Pierre crew had taken Emily without him giving the order or knowing anything about it or taking you seriously when trying to find out about it. They haven't even finished handling their buisness at home by finding out who is being racist against your woman yet you want to blow up France but you run away from home without finding out who is plotting under your own roof. If we are meant to choose sides out of our heros and heroine than I choose Jean Pierre and Eden I will gladly read more of the butcher books without the subplot of kazimer and Eden but I highly doubt I will read another book with Emily in it.

Ok don’t kill me but I don’t like the direction of the series. I gave it 3 stars because I hate the pacing of the story. From the first book to this book, everything happened within a few weeks. This books plot took place over 48 hours. It should have been added to the 3rd book especially since nothing really got resolved outside of getting his mouse back but for how long? Kaz can’t fight a war with the butcher and still try to figure out the monkey head situation. And I don’t like putting the butcher and Kaz against each other, it makes you pick a side and in essence makes me not care about the butcher cause I want Kaz to win. And it gets old that Emily continues to save Kaz behind when he’s suppose to be this big bad mob boss that rules the world. This is starting to feel like the never ending story with how long this is dragging and so many side stories. I will probably wait until this series is complete before I pick it back up.

Too much of the Sonata in this one as well...

I have LOVED this series until this book. I read Jean-Pierre's perspective and too much of this book overlapped. I think if this book picked up from the mall scene and took them out of France and then dealing with the monkeys this would have worked. But the restaurant, apartment and movie theater was just not new material. Not cool.
To have Emily's viewpoint is cool, but they could have been small flashbacks of unknown material and people would just have to read the French view. And their books were cool, so it's not like it's a waste of time.

I'm really hoping there is another book of new material coming with Kaz and Emily.

Thoroughly put

This book was a bit of a repeat of book three it really really rated what happened throughout the whole book I would say the only new part where the beginning and the end definitely helped you to understand book 3 because it repeated most of the book in this book 4 I'm hoping the next book is better I can't wait to see what Kaz is going to do, im hoping he listens to Emily and not start a war, but he's hurting and emotionally acting out.
Good book cant wait to read what happens next....

I thought that I would like this story

But for some reason; I had to make myself finish the story. I love a good romantic suspense story; but for some reason the play by play started to bore me. I kept wondering when is this all going to end. I haven't read Mischa's book yet; but if it is similar to this one, I don't think I want to. I know that there are still some plot points open; but I honestly don't know if I care anymore.

Love and Disappointing

All 5 of this series were great read kept me excited,. I see where the author is going ,except where is the ending? How many are there before we get to it. This book was a drag on. Meaning she drag this book on and on but no ending. And 3.5 book where is Misha and the Ballerina ending story? I hope this not where the Author leaves untold endings.

Sonata

If you have read Sonata then this is the retelling of that story just in Kaz and Emily's point of view - That's why I only gave it 3 stars.

Kazimir and Emily never disappoint.

We finally get the conclusion to the Paris kidnapping and somehow everything is worse than when it started and I am now wondering if I should read The Butcher and the Violinist.

That same high-energy was back but there was also some heartstrings at the end. It's crazy to know that all of this has happened in less than six months! What's even crazier is that I, a stickler for timeframe, doesn't even care or remember while reading.

As Kaz and Emily race through the streets of Paris to reunite, we pick up some new and old characters along the way. The jokes are never far and neither were the setbacks.

We got to see how Emily managed to run her crew both in Harlem and the army she's building in Moscow. I loved that she never lost focus and kept us in the present during her kidnapping, as opposed to daydreaming of being saved. She is a strong black woman who brings these pages to life!

Meanwhile, with a million things happening and the character roster getting longer, we are on top of everything, even the unresolved. It's like Ava's ballet, chaotic but beautiful.

Shorter than the previous novels, this seemed like another segue into what's next for the Bratva and the Corsican. Many battles in history have started over women and this was no different.

While others would appreciate equal footing, I don't for this one. I regard Kaz as King of the Jungle and lemurs (Jean-Pierre and his crew) running unchecked in the jungle, just cannot do.

Which is another scale of emotions I ran, because I kind of like the perfume posse (my term for them.)

Thank you Lord, the sex waited! However, it brought to the forefront, all the editing errors, namely, names of who was present and who was speaking. But I am just nit-picking.

At the end of the day, this was a perfectly paced game of chess across the French city, where every time you thought one side had the up, another wasn't far behind. Either equalling the score or one-upping the game.

The fallout will be massive and I can't wait to get behind the mind of the mourning Russian king.

Absolutely Marvelous

OMG I really enjoy the POVs of these characters. Kenya Wright allows you to be inside their heads which made it so enjoyable and of course this made me feel as if I was right there. The characters gives a push and pull that creates fire between themselves and I allowed it to get under my skin but in a good way. This is a fast paced story that will have you panting for more and you may even want a fan or two. WOW the story walks the line between it's humor and captivating passions. I think my favorite part was their banter and how I could never guess what was going to happen next. These two will take you on a wild and fun ride that you will definitely enjoy. What a awesome story to be enjoyed. This is a must read series by MS Wright it will make you a fan if you are not one already. It has strong and independent women and men who will fight for their women and who they consider are their forever love and of course there's their steamy chemistry plus there are also interesting twists with so much passion which is sizzling hot, especially this couple. Now for all I can tell all of her stories are just marvelous and I'm happy that I get to binge read them. Each one of her books are intriguing with enjoyable stories with some ending in a cliffhanger but they are still oh so enjoyable. The sizzling hot passions will keep you turning pages until the end. Every moment of this couple's relationship makes it impossible to put down your reader until the story is at its end. What a wonderful experience!!!

I will never get tired of Kazimir and Emily. This is a great series. Every book is good and filled with lots of action and sexy Russians.

In this book, during a vacation in France, Emily is taken from Kazimir. She is kidnapped by a leader of the French Mafia Jean-Pierre who believed that Kazimir kidnapped his woman. John Pierre forces Kazimir to find his woman or Emily will never be returned to him. Kazimir has never experienced fear like he does after losing his mouse. Kazimir would bomb France to find her. After all, he is the head of the Bratva and has ultimate power. In the meantime, the French realize that Emily is no ordinary woman and have a battle keeping her in their custody. At every opportunity she tries to escape. To get back to Kazimir.

All doesn't end well even after The Lion and The Mouse are reunited. After reuniting, they suffer a loss so great it may destroy their future.

I have to make mention that Ellis Evans is a great narrator. He has given Kazimir a sexy Russian accent that I love to hear. However, Shari Peele is a good reader but not a good narrator for this book. Especially not for a book that has so many characters. She doesn't even change her feminine voice when reading the male characters and all her accents sound like a Jamaican woman. I hope the female narrator in the next book is better. Especially since the next book is 14 hours.

I am looking forward to the next book.

No one had a dirty mind in the way I wanted to in this book unless you consider continuous killing dirty. I consider it psycho behavior. I didn’t start reading this for psycho behavior. I read it for a love story with a bit of psycho behavior but it’s turned into a mafia story that has romance. And I’d say a sprinkle of romance. And erotica is nonexistent so I don’t know why that’s listed anywhere for a description. Nothing is wrong with the characters per se because if they even slightly annoyed be this would’ve been a DNF and I would’ve abandoned the series. This story has greatly evolved from what it was in the first book. That may be good for some but it wasn’t doing it for me. There’s 2 more books after this that I won’t be reading for a while. I might need to take a break from it to appreciate it better because it really is a good storyline and is well written. I just wasn’t looking for this subject matter per se. And the ending only certified that more action and killing are a guarantee in the next one.

Dear Kenya I have tried, I don’t know how you managed to make your books worse overtime, it’s as if experience avoids you because this is crazy 🙏🏾‼️

How did Kazimir the lion, the strongest of all the brats brother managed to be the most useless individual ⁉️😟 he was genuinely worse than Maxwell and that is saying something, Emily genuinely did every single thing, planned, devised, deceived, escaped and much much more all being kidnapped and with no support. Kazimir had EVERYTHING but still failed 😨 that man is a LOSERRRRR 🍅‼️Jesus ‼️

In one moment he swears he will kill some one but the next moment he changes his mind ⁉️ Oshey bipolar !??? Like huhhh ?? The only people he managed to kill where people below him and it was a messenger, what a bloody wuss 😒 should have stopped reading this book the first time I said I would because it never got better. Good riddance to bad rubbish 🙏🏾‼️

I couldn’t even give this book the base 2.5 stars for happy black women with rich husbands because she wasn’t happy neither is she even rich 😒🍅‼️🍅‼️
