"The Sky is Falling" is a very good story for kids learning to read. It is aimed for children from preschool to first grade but I still enjoyed reading it because of the few pages, big words, and awesome illustrations. The book starts out with the main character, Chicken Little, falsely alarming everyone that the sky is falling. His life got worse because everyone was picking on him. Then a piece of the sky actually did fall on him and he told everyone again but most were still skeptical. It turned out that aliens had been behind the falling of the sky. And in the end of course Chicken Little becomes the hero and his father loves him again.

I haven't watched the movie by the same name so can't say if the book is the same. But the book isn't "blocky" like many movie books are. This story reads smoothly and you can follow the story nice and knows what is going on.

Jillian liked this one a bit more than Holden. I think it's because it's a Step 2 reading with help, so the words are larger.

This book can be used to allow children to see that everyone makes mistakes and mistakes are okay. Just because we make mistakes does not mean we are failures. This is how we learn.

My preschooler is a fan of the Chicken Little movie and this book includes illustrations from the film and some of the action. She was very pleased.
