Sister Brides #2

The Disobedient Mistress

Rate this book
Caterer Misty Carlton is in serious trouble. Her business is on the rocks and the only man who can save her butt is Leone Andracchi—an arrogant, infuriating and temptingly hot Sicilian tycoon. Leone knows exactly how precarious Misty's situation is—and he's about to take advantage of it.

He offers her a deal that seems deceptively easy. Misty plays obedient mistress to Leone—strictly hands off, of course, and only for the sake of the public eye. In return for keeping up the charade, Misty gets a sizable chunk of cash and gets to keep her business. What Misty doesn't know is that she's part of a revenge scheme, aimed at discrediting her biological father.

The hands-off factor is becoming a problem because every time Misty and Leone begin arguing heatedly, their bodies and lips take over. Sure, it makes for great press—but how can Misty lust for someone she so thoroughly despises?

AWESOME BOOK MILD SPOILERS AHEAD!
You should read this one if only for the dialogue between the two of them. Wow talk about explosive!
The HOT limo scene when he talks French (WOW)
The HOT scene in the elevator
The scene when she talks about her accident and not being able to have children (we all know how that ends up)
The best scene however is when the hero trips over the ride on mower trying to explain his feelings and failing awesomely!!!
That scene plays out so amazingly in my head.
What a great story!
When she walk up to see him after she dumps his lying ass was awesome. Wow I could just picture it. It was so well written.
Got to love LG when she does it right, it's awesome.
Actually she is an auto buy for me since her first book I got in my teens.
Very very enjoyable
Safe no cheating, with not OW/OM drama.
He always used protection and she was a Virgin by circumstances that made sense.
A total Keeper for me.

I knocked off half a star due to a slow, and somewhat dragging start.

This book is fantastic and I like it more and more each reread. I reread this a week ago and it has been on my mind a lot since then. I just couldn't stay away from it so I reread it again today, well last night and today. It's strange because there is something about this book that draws me in and I love it even more each time I read it.

This story is about our hero creating an elaborate scheme to bring down the man he believes is responsible for his younger sister's death. This man (not the hero) is also a very well known politician and has a sordid past and is also to some degree responsible for his sister's death. What kind of man has secret hideouts where he meets his mistresses and girl friends and what kind of cad, probably in his forties or fifties, has an affair with a student that is only nineteen? He speaks out of both sides of his mouth politically being very against unwed motherhood and illegitimate children. While he's researching how to go about getting his man he finds out the enemy has illegitimate twin daughters. If he can find one of the daughters, he can use her, without her knowing-of course, to expose his enemy and get the vengeance he has sought.

Our hero, wealthy and gorgeous Leone Andracchi, begins to fall for caterer and business owner Misty Carlton (who is unaware who her deadbeat dad is.) Her business is in big trouble but not for the reasons Leone believes. He's convinced that she's a slut and user that bilks sweet little old ladies out of their money...which couldn't be further from the truth. Photos can be deceiving! Since her catering business is going south he has offered her a deal for a good sum of money. She is to play his pretend mistress...a hands-off agreement (while he sets up the sting of which Misty is totally unaware of.) He is not really out to get Misty but since he thinks badly of her he doesn't mind to hurt her in the process as he exposes the father that abandoned her and her twin sister at birth.

But as time passes he realizes that she isn't the type of person he thought she was and this 'fake' couple is beginning to fall in love and their arrangement has ceased being hands-off. Can he stop the wheels that he's already set in motion to expose her father so he they can be together because it is very likely when she finds out who was behind this exposure he is going to be kicked to the curb. Or will he crush her under his heel and break her fragile heart if the realization comes to light?

This hero had a hard time being nice and thought badly of her for at least half the book but once he realizes he was wrong that all changes and it is evident that he is falling in love with her. Once he discovers the truth about her (she's a virgin-so apparently she isn't slutty) that begins to change. The grovel was excellent and the ending a dream! I ended up loving them both dearly!! I wanted a Leone for myself!

One of my forever favs, thank you so much LG!

First the bad stuff, which actually wasn't bad just small details that bothered me but that weren't really important:
I had an issue with this book and that was the age of the heroine. I thought Misty was way too young (22) to have her own catering company plus she had already lived the disappointing result of her search for sisters, the accident that left her infertile and led to her broken engagement. I know that there are other heroines that go through worse at younger ages but for me Misty should have been at least two years older.
My other complaint is that Philip was wasted, there was really good material there. I couldn't help myself but remember that other LG where the hero had a baby with other woman while he and heroine were separated. Yep, definitely wasted chance to annoy the hero.

Anyways, let's go to all I loved which is everything else in the book!

Misty and her contradictions. She's your typical sweet heroine that wants to believe the very best of everyone BUT having lived through all her tragedies she's guarded towards certain people. She had her moments of behaving her age and her moments of behaving more maturely, according to everything she'd been through. She was not brainless and she had a backbone.

Poor Leone, there was no way of helping him. His revenge was more like his excuse to get closer to Misty. His intent of keeping the fake mistress deal lasted like a second.

“I’m going to screw you senseless, amore.”
Wait, what? This line in an HP? Damn me I love it!

“And that was the instant when Misty knew beyond a doubt that Leone really really meant every word he had just said, for if he could fail to notice a three foot tall mower in his path, he was a definite lost cause to love.”
I died with this line. Actually that whole chapter deserved the 5 stars by itself.

Oh, and a big thank you Leone for explaining the lack of condoms for their first time, you're forgiven.

Oy vey. The Greek/tycoon/billionaire inner monologuing has begun...

Okay, I am a little confused. This had so many of the traditional Lynne Graham markers, but it just did not click for me.

Leone, the H, uses Misty as means of revenge against the death of his sister so we have the following tropes in play:

Virgin
Abandoned by parents; searching for sisters
The h used as tool of revenge against the man who killed his sister
Unknowingly besotted hero
Infertile h cured by magical presence of the H

April 15, 2017 Re-read.

Bumping up one star.

On the re-read, I bought into the hero's emotions and turnaround. He is one of LG's typical besotted heroes.

I don't think I've ever read a revenge story with this light of a tone before. The hero wants revenge on a family values politician who he feels caused his sister's death. His revenge is to make his illegitimate daughter his mistress so the press will dig into her background and expose the politician for his hypocrisy. Why he didn't just leak these revelations to the press without personally involving the heroine is beyond me - but then we wouldn't have a plot.

And here's the plot:
The heroine is going bankrupt so the she takes up the hero's offer. The no-sex rule of their employment contract is quickly dispensed with. The politician father is quickly exposed as is the hero's part in it. There is the obligatory separation, but it is broken when the heroine finds she's pregnant. A miracle because our virgin heroine didn't think she can get pregnant. The hero wants to marry her - there is some last minute waffling from the heroine because she wants her ILY before walking up the aisle. She gets it - HEA with baby and castle in Scotland.

Lots of side plots with the heroine's twin who was adopted (look for a sequel*). A rock star foster brother the hero is jealous of. A half-sister who is married to Arab royalty** (There's probably a book about her, too).

I noticed I used quickly a lot in this review - and that's probably the best word to describe this story. It's a quick read, with quick scenes that just skim the emotions of revenge, sex, jealousy, romance and family reunions.

Hot passion, intense romance, and a wonderful sense of humor -
take the scene when she climbs on top of him and says "Give it to me!" and his response to that.
Leone is an alpha male billionaire whose greatest vulnerability lies with the heroine because he's crazy about her.
As usual, Lynne Graham lives up to expectation!
Misty is tough as well as beautiful but she's no match when faced with the charms of Leone Andracchi.
She agrees to become his mistress in name only to save her fledgling business and to continue to support her former foster mother.
Sparks fly when they spend time together and Misty falls in love.
But Leone has planned to use Misty in his plot for revenge against the man who fathered her.
He blames Misty's father for the death of his younger sister.
Misty learns that the man she has always called father isn't and that she has 2 sisters she never knew existed - one married to an Arab prince.
Misty has never known who her father was.
When the truth comes out, Misty is shocked and heartbroken.
Can anything repair the relationship that was growing between them?
Can love mend that which revenge tore apart?

I give this one 3.5 stars. Cute, fast read with an interesting story and plot. However, it is not as well done as the sequel...the Heiress Bride. I somehow felt it lacked depth and emotion. There were too many characters and consequently not one got the depth required for a five star read.

Except maybe the hero. I really did love the hero, Leone, in spite of his very cruel and vicious actions in the very beginning. He was certainly one ruthless Sicilian bent on avenging his sister's death. However, he quickly falls for the heroine and realizes the mistakes he has put in motion. But, he finds that he has no way to stop them. As a reader I got caught up in watching things explode right in front of him and I could see how much he wanted to make amends to the heroine.

I think my biggest disappointment was the heroine. She just didn't seem realistic to me. She was portrayed as this altruistic person, but she really only cared about herself. She just felt fake and plastic. I was appalled at how quickly she agreed to marriage. Again her reasoning was all about her and how good it would be for her. Not the baby, not Leone...but just her.

The h is a sweet good hearted 22 year old with a painful past. The H is a typical alpha male. He is intent on exacting revenge on the h's biological father and has decided to use the h as the means to ruin him. The h doesn't even know who her biological father is but the H has come up with justifications for why it's ok to use her. Unfortunately for him he very quickly falls for her and it's too late to stop the revenge drama and the h is hurt by his actions. Fortunately the H knows how to grovel with passion and the Hea is wonderful.

"The Disobedient Mistress" is the story of Misty and Leone.
When caterer Misty's business is on the verge of bankruptcy, she ends up losing her last contract thanks to the elusive Sicilian billionaire Leone's whim. He however offers to pay off her loans, if she agrees to be his pretend only mistress. However he has an ulterior revenge motive behind his proposition, and despite their efforts, their chemistry is off the charts..
Overall an average to good read- a bit heavy on angst and on the passionate lovemaking- and the hero was a little too cruel/ruthless, the heroine a little too overwhelmed by her lust than her brains- and both seemed to over-run with emotions than common sense. I also have come to detest the excuse, "I hurt you and tortured you mentally and gave you all the anguish because I was secretly in love with you"...What are you? A toddler!
Did like the update with Freddy and Shannon in the end. And that he remained faithful.

I hate it when the h begs the H to make love to her or goes to his bedroom to sleep with him. This h did it several times.

This is supposed to be a revenge story, but the revenge flew quickly out of the window. There was no angst, no vengeance.

And the miracle conception for a woman who deals with infertility is just silly. It’s not even a spoiler because all Lynne Graham’s HP’s have pregnancies or baby’s all over the place.

Nice romance but I couldn't warm up to the heroine for some reason. The hero was a sexy and romantic Sicilian but the heroine was not good enough for him. She was kind of cold and indifferent. She didn't quite deserved him.

Surprisingly a quick read if you don't dwell on parts that don't move the plot forward like scenery description and reminiscing past relationships. LG craftily lets the simmering passion in early pages explode in to a steamy relationship. There isn't as much bickering between MCs and every other side character's role in the story is swift and short. Add in a miracle pregnancy and this book was an absolute delight.

Another great read after my last one! I loved this LG even though the plot seemed familiar.

Leone is planning revenge on his dead sister's lover (who is alive and kicking). Unfortunately this lover is an older man with not much that Leone can crumble other than his public image since the ex-lover is a well known politician.

Upon research Leone finds that this person has illegitimate daughters and from there on he plans to out all those skeletons in that man's closet and bring about his downfall.

The h who is this politician's illegit daughter, does not know of her father. She works as a caterer and knows Leone as the man who's been keeping her business afloat with his generous contract. It is unknown to her that Leone has been doing all this only because she's a pawn in his plan.

What Leone doesn't realize is that he's totally falling for this woman and she is definitely not all that he thought she was. He proposes to her to fake the role of his mistress in public in exchange for a much-needed renewal of his contract to her catering business.

I adored the banter between the h and H. Leone was a hot-headed, totally possessive alpha. Such a hot lover that I was steaming up reading on his deep kisses with the h. The h was also adorable. I loved her no-nonsense attitude and the way she kept Leone at bay with her cheeky, stubborn attitude. She said the darnedest of things to him but Leone was too alpha and went 10 steps ahead to say something even more impertinent to make her blush!!

I thought the book ended too soon. Their sparring had just gotten better when the tides took a turn. I appreciated that for once, the h Misty, would let Leone wear the pants and was more submissive rather than typically argumentative.

Also a very adorable epilogue. I will be re reading this many times!

This book is so much more than what the title states and I’m not even sure when the heroine was ever disobedient (I hate that word, she’s a grown woman), while she was playing the role of the hero’s mistress. At the very beginning the hero started out as your typical alpha jerk that you come to expect from Lynne Graham however, after they make their first public appearance and are in the limo on the car ride home, you know they are not going to be able to keep their hands off each other and that they were headed towards a deeper relationship.

I liked how both the hero and heroine admitted that there relationship had changed after they had sex. Normally the hero is still trying to tell himself that it’s only sex, but not this hero. He recognized that he was emotionally attached to the heroine and he was having second thoughts about how his revenge plot was going to affect the heroine. I loved the elevator scene, the club scene and the hero tripping over the lawnmower.

One thing that REALLY bugged me, so much so that I took 1 Star away from the book, about this story was the character Flash. Flash is a famous, rich rock superstar! He stayed in the same foster home as the heroine, so why didn’t she just ask him for the money to save both of their foster mother’s home!?!? If Lynne Graham was not going to utilize this character like a normal, sane person would, why make him rich and famous? Seriously there is NO STORY at all if it wasn’t for the heroine needing the money to keep her foster mother in her home. Lynne Graham this was an obvious weak spot in your entire book. Why, why, why did you make Flash rich and famous and not ask him to help his foster mother? He’s a nice guy and would have helped in a flash (pun intended)!

While not as good as the first book in the series, this book had its own highlights.

Leone blackmails Misty into being his pretend mistress to bring down the politician who is responsible for his younger sister's death. Misty doesn't know what Leone is planning and has no clue that the politician is her father.

Although it would be easy to dislike Leone, he wins you over with his kindness and charm. Misty is sweet but a fighter. She has a hard time trusting people because so many people have let her down. She's a real tough cookie and I really like her.

Not the best Lynne Graham book but still very entertaining. I enjoyed it.

‘I’m afraid I don’t understand,‟ Misty framed very slowly and succinctly while she wondered if he were a brick short of the full load in the mental department or drunk as a skunk and just not showing physical signs of his condition.
If she said jump to him and he said how high, she would direct him to the nearest lift shaft,
„Sorry if I’ve kept you waiting, amore,‟ Leone murmured smooth as silk, moving to her side to place an infuriatingly possessive hand on her spine.
„Philip Redding…‟ Philip shot out a hand with all the easy friendliness that was natural to him. „Misty and I are old friends.‟
„Look, I’ll call you,‟ Philip told Misty, giving Leone a bewildered look, quite out of his depth when faced with such a complete lack of answering courtesy.
“Don’t waste your time,‟ Leone advised before Misty could respond, shooting Philip a derisive glance of cold menace as he pressed her over to the lift and hit the call button with one stab of a punitive finger. “She won’t be available.‟
“While you’re with me, you don’t talk to other men…you don’t even look at other men, ‟ Leone delivered with simmering emphasis.
“You heard her. Back off.‟ It was Leone,
After all, he seemed prone to standing over her like a Rottweiler guarding a bone!
A guy so cool in relationships that ice might be cosy in comparison. A guy who got bored very easily and without apology, generous to a fault but ungiven to commitment or romantic gestures, indeed the guy most likely to forget your birthday, overlook St Valentine‟s Day and cancel dates last minute in favour of work. A guy whose lovers always looked nervous, as if at any moment they awaited the news that they were no longer flavour of the month. In short, an absolute rat, whom any sensible woman would avoid like the plague…as would she to the best of her ability.
Instead he drew her fully down on him. Smouldering dark golden eyes lodged on her startled face. “You should think twice before you climb on top of a guy and ask him to give it to you…”
“I’m going to screw you senseless, amore,‟ Leone intoned with raw sensual force, sinking his hands beneath her hips to tug her dress out of his path. „And then I’m going to take you into my bed tonight and do it all over again.‟
He sent the blinds flying back from the windows with the stab of one lean finger. She wanted to open the passenger door beside her and throw herself out even though the limo was still moving.
“Because if you ever end up in bed with me, life as you know it will end.‟
“So where have you been? Because if you’ve been with Philip Redding, I’m going to rip him apart!‟
“For the next few weeks…yes.‟ smouldering golden eyes challenged her. „If I find out that you’ve been screwing some other guy…‟
Their only true relationship was an unusual working agreement and if those boundaries were breached it would get messy, embarrassing and far too personal. Indeed, she would just be asking to get a kick in the teeth.
Stop it, stop it, stop it, she urged herself guiltily.
„Standing there in the firelight you might well as be naked, ‟ Leone breathed thickly.
He bent his dark head, brilliant eyes almost tender, and stole a lingering kiss. “Sometimes you don’t tell the whole truth.‟
“Don’t swear at me,‟ Misty told him defensively.
“I wasn’t swearing. I was telling you…don’t ever do that to me again.‟
Leone spoke again just as she reached the bathroom door. “I would have hurt you less if you’d warned me that you were a virgin.‟
“Get the hell away from her!‟ Leone launched, hauling her under one powerful arm and immediately curving her round to shelter her with his body and prevent the intrusive lenses from capturing a shot of her shell-shocked face.
She bought a book on pregnancy. Leone’s baby. She pushed out that thought as soon as it popped up. This was her baby. It was nothing to do with Leone. At least he had made himself useful in one direction, she reflected with a distinct sense of one-upmanship.
“I’m not about to stand by watching him manhandle a pregnant woman!‟ Flash growled at her. ‘And stop embarrassing us. He’s a big guy. He can look after himself.‟
At that point, registering that Flash’s minders were staying out of the fray and no longer caring if the two men killed each other, Misty threw herself into the passenger seat of the car. Is it mine? She felt savaged. How could Leone have asked such a question?
‘It’s almost dawn and you’re out dancing and drinking with another guy!‟ Sizzling golden eyes flared over her in furious derision. “You’re coming home with me—‟
She loved him so much it terrified her and maybe refusing to forgive him was easier than dealing with the reality that he did not love her, she acknowledged painfully. But had she been a little braver and a lot less proud, she would not be lying alone and miserable in bed aching for him with every fibre of her being…
‘Because…‟ Leone snatched in a ragged breath, dark colour scoring his high cheekbones as he focused on her with strained eyes of appeal. ‘Because I would have asked you to marry me anyway. Because I was bloody grateful when I realised you were carrying my baby as it gave me a second chance I wouldn’t have got from you any other way. Because I screwed up every way there was but I do love you!‟
‘I was just thankful you came to me…‟ Leone shot her a wry look. ‘I’ll take whatever you’re willing to give on any terms. Haven’t you worked that out yet?‟
‘I don’t know but right now I feel like I might be scared enough to sit on your doorstep all night in case you change your mind about the wedding again.‟ Leone admitted half under his breath.
He parked in a layby down the road and threw back his proud dark head to study her with intent interest. When she thought about it she realised that he always looked at her that way and when she smiled, he smiled as if he couldn’t help himself. All along his love had been there for her to see if only she had had the faith and the confidence to recognise it.
She knew some people collected old keys and, as old keys went, she supposed it was a top-notch find and she tried to sound appropriately impressed. “It looks so old…it’s just…er…fascinating—‟
“I think I fell in love with you long before you ever signed that crazy contract. I was obsessed by you,‟ Leone confided with a rueful laugh. “I was up at Brewsters every other week when I had no reason to visit, watching you every second you were in the same room—‟
“I thought a marriage proposal after one weekend would make you lift the phone to call a psychiatrist for me. Dio mio…didn’t you feel my desperation?”

‘Who’s that blonde sitting beside the hunky dark guy?‟
‘What hunky dark guy?‟ her bridegroom growled, rising easily to the bait.

‘You love me…and you still dumped me?‟ Leone seemed to be in shock again. ‘And you call me ruthless?‟
Reassured, Misty nestled under his arm. ‘By the way, when did you break up with that blonde television actress?‟
‘The night I called her, “Misty,” Leone admitted grudgingly.

This was a highly entertaining read. It was actually way sweeter than I was expecting. The beginning meeting was angsty and there were a few scenes here and there that were angsty but for the most part it was pretty light read for a LG book. I wasn’t a huge fan of the h, she’s a little too combative for me. Her character made sense. I get why she held her true feelings and emotions so close to her chest but I just didn’t love her.

Overall: 3.5

Lynne Graham is an Author I will definitely pick-up

The ultimate dialogue..
'I really thought I was never going to get you back...The baby was a miracle to me too and for you to say that it was your fault that that life-saving development took place...' Leone loosed a shaken laugh at that concept, dark golden eyes pinned to her with disbelief. 'Do you know why I couldn't protect you that weekend?'

Misty shook her head, joy beginning to unfurl inside her and take wings.

'I'm the bright spark who deliberately chose to leave the condoms behind in London because I believed that that would prevent me from dragging you into the nearest bed,' Leone admitted with a rueful light of self-mockery in his beautiful eyes that released crazy butterflies in her tummy. 'I took the risk. I took the risk knowing what I was doing because I couldn't resist you and I no more regret that risk than I could ever regret the consequences.'

I don't know why. Maybe because I kind of confuse with Miss Graham's style of writing.

I find this book very intriguing, especially with the "revenge" stuff because I'm so into it. And the summary persuade me to purchase this book. But, hmmm, I'm not saying it's bad, but.. I confused. That's the major reason.

The way Miss Graham put the point of view is random. Jumping from one character to another, without warning. And it's confusing. And moodswing in Misty's "inner battle", again, confusing. I mean.. It feels like there are huge gap between one scene to another. I don't know, maybe it's just me.

I don't really enjoy it, though the storyline is interesting. Could be so much better than this.

Good but a typical shake and bake Lynne Graham. Better than some but I’m not crazy about her sister plots.

The H was terrible and h knew it, a user who sees h as a revenge tool not a person. Makes a good story but not a good person. This has several graphic encounters that take up word count that could have gone to character and setting and backstory.

The grammar errors annoy; “with him and l” and “there wasn’t two” are common but wrong and I hate seeing authors perpetuate the errors.

Reread and like better but Hi is still selfish and too much graphic time.

I didn't expect much from this book, but I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Despite the fact that it's a revenge story, the main characters didn't spend all the time fighting and hating each other. Brava to Ms Graham!

Wow, wow, wow. Really amazing read I liked it a lot, the hero was super, suuuuuuuuuuuper nice, I liked him a lot, and the ending was Deliciously good. Of course I couldn't keep from shedding the obligatory tears at the very, very happy ending…
