Yay! A career-driven, perfectionist heroine with self-esteem issues get the Lynne Graham treatment. And what I mean by the Lynne Graham treatment is: a smitten hero who falls for her the second he meets her, sends her flowers and cards, chases her from England to France and is delighted he made her pregnant so he can keep her forever. :)
This heroine works in finance. She's good at her job, but still feels badly about herself because she didn't become a doctor, which was her father's dream. She dresses down and that's what causes her to lose her chance at a promotion. (Hero sees her picture and doesn't think she gives off the right image for their firm.) Heroine is so devastated that she goes to her friend (the heroine in book 3 of this series) for a makeover and ends up wowing the hero at the company party later that night.
It's a nice low-angst romance with some to-and-fro action as the heroine runs from her feelings (and the hero). There's a misunderstanding about one of the hero's old girlfriends, but it's really the heroine overreacting. The "frisky" H/h from The Frenchman's Love-Child make a blissful appearance. All that time in bed has paid off - they have three children. :)

I just realized that I've read this twice and never posted a review.
It's one of the more benign Lynne Graham's: sweet, unappreciated heroine, besotted and bamboozled hero, and true love.
What makes this one a teensy bit different is the h not only has a real job but is good at it, and the hero is not a slut-shaming, accusatory asshat. I repeat, he is not an asshat. She's not just a cleaner, a mistress in training, etc., but a finance person held back by her sexist manager. The H is smitten from the gitgo.
The H and h meet cute at a party where no one recognizes the h due to a latent makeover. That's the kind of makeover I want/need. Anyhoo, chemical reaction ensues, and she can no longer capture unicorns.
You're not going to believe the next part. There is a big misunderstanding. The h sees an ex of the hero's and makes some erroneous assumptions. Who would think.
She flees to France, and visits the couple from The Frenchman's Love-Child where the hero in that one must have had a personality transplant.
Bottom line, if your a fan of LG's besotted heroes, you'll like it.

This actually turned out to be another accidental reread for me. I was sure that I had read all the books in the Brides of L'Amour series, but I had it on my bedside table to read, so I assumed I hadn't read it. I think might be an extra that I picked up someone and forgot it was an extra copy.
Nevertheless, I found this book highly enjoyable, even on the reread. Pippa is a fairly tormented heroine, having been an unwanted 'accidental' child whose existence forced her parents into a loveless marriage in which her father habitually cheated on her mother. Pippa is highly intelligent, a math genius, who has a fast-track in her career at Venstar, but ends up getting demoted because she doesn't have the sexy look, according to her boss. She believes that the big boss Andreo D'Alessio was behind this decision, and has reason to think he's like her faithless, shallow father, who did nothing but criticize her for her lack of looks and ambition, because she didn't want to go into medicine after the horrible crash that took her mother's life and caused her father to be paralyzed. She decides to have a makeover for the office party, and ends up meeting a tall, sexy man who she goes home with. It turns out this man is her boss, the very Andreo who she thought she disliked. Of course, Pippa is not down with sleeping with the boss, but Andreo is too hard to resist. She decides she'll indulge in a short term affair until her vacation to France starts.
Of course, Pippa ends up falling in love with Andreo, knowing that she doesn't have a future with the Italian 'womanizer'. When his girlfriend returns to town, she quits her job and him, and heads to France, only to have him follow her.
Lynne Graham writes a hit with her sexy, sweet, and humorous (with a dash of angst) novel here. I quite enjoyed this series the first time around, and I liked this book just as much this time. Andreo might be a rich Italian who has had short-term flings with available women, but he's a good guy. He's loving and sweet to Pippa, respecting her intelligence, and working past her insecurities. Even though he's a bit arrogant, you could tell his heart was in the right place. I liked that Pippa was an independent woman, and very intelligent. She might have some insecurities, but she managed to forge a good life for herself. She didn't think she wanted a man like Andreo, or a family, but love has some nice surprises in store for her. It was a pleasant experience reading these two people finding a forever love together.

I guess this might not be for everyone because it is not an angsty read and the hero is the one doing the chasing. So I couldn't really sing with sentiment Lupita D'Alessio's song Qué ganas de no verte nunca más!
After reading The Frenchman's love-child I really wanted a HEA for Pippa. I really thought her dad was going to be a major for Pippa's suffering and he was even if he was already dead.
Anyways... Pippa's world was her job, because of dear daddy she wanted to be successful and then she lost the promotion she had been working hard on getting just because she wasn't putting much effort in being pretty.
Of course she starts feeling raw, on edge, and suddenly she meets a man that inspires her to be reckless and everything is just too much too soon.
“'Lili Richards touched you…that was infidelity!’ Pippa slammed back in a ferocious surge of disagreement. ‘One finger on any part of you qualifies as infidelity!'”
Ok, maybe the possessiveness is contagious
Andreo (I thought in Italian it was Andreas but whatever) was almost perfect, he could have managed a couple of things better but for the rest he was perfect. He was an arrogant and possessive macho with sense of humor and romantic details (oh, the flowers, the food). I wanted to kiss him for the way he managed the split condom situation and when he found her in France.
“'You don’t appear to grasp how angry I am with you,’ he breathed in sudden warning. ‘You owe me an explanation and a grovelling apology—'”
Most of the problems between them where resolved easily and without that much fuss which I liked because some authors over do little things and stretch them till the end.
Towards the end Pippa was driving me crazy with her childish behavior but thankfully she realized by herself (well, the car accident helped) what she was doing.

5 HP stars - which as you all know are different than the 5 stars I gave to "To Kill a Mockingbird". You gotta judge each book on its own merits according to its type/genre. Anyhoo...
A sweet little HP read. You could tell from the very beginning that the hero was head over heels for the heroine. She couldn't really see it though because she was so insecure after her rather rotten upbringing where her father denigrated her all the time. The hero was very arrogant because he had spent his life wealthy and good looking and was used to women adoring him. He chased her pretty hard from the get go and that was sweet to see. He was arrogant but never nasty to her. He thought she was so beautiful that he couldn't really get that she was unsure of him. She was weak around him but at least she realized it and was ashamed of it. But she wasn't a total pushover. Like all LG books the heroine ends up pregnant. If you've read any by this author that won't be a surprise. But it did have a bit of a different twist here. Which I won't spoil. This was obviously part of a series as I realized that I've read a book about her friend. There was a group of four girls whose families were all mixed up in a tragedy about 8 years ago and I believe that each of the girls should have a book. I've got to go look for the rest of them now.
Anyway a fun read for HP lovers.

A light mills and boon contemporary romance, focusing on charismatic and suave Andreo D'Alessio and Pippa Stevenson are complete opposite in all but their intellects, but from their first meeting where the sparks fly, it is clear, that one night isn’t all they’ll share. Now if only Pippa and Andreo can navigate the barriers Pippa has in place, as well as the habit both have of reading incorrectly between the lines.
Are there moments in this that are annoying – yes, but there are also moments in this that seriously amused me, I can see myself re-reading this. What I really liked here is that the heroine is one smart lady and the hero isn’t a slut-shaming asshole, although he’s far from perfect as a book boyfriend, he has his idiot moments. That being said, the shy, uncertain virgin trope ... sign…it’s getting old.

It's been so long since I've read a harlequin and this was really nice!! I loved how infatuated Andreo was and how Pippa was such a driven character. I definitely found the ending kind of random but this was nice overall.

Tall & dowdy-dressing financial account expert is shocked to realize that her perfect-fantasy man she gave up her virginity to after just meeting each other at her company party is actually her boss whom she criticized. Playboy Hero won't accept that all they have is a 1-night stand & seduces her into changing her mind. They have a secret office affair. Heroine knows that H only does short-term flings & plans to end it soon when she gives her resignation & travels to France. Her plans come sooner than expected when H cancels their lunch plans & instead takes his gorgeous GF out to lunch.
Good romance/S chem/sex scenes/dialogue/pacing/emotions. Liked h's awareness of her docility with H & attempted to be more assertive. Although her way of asserting herself at times was more in secret (i.e, not informing H of her plan to quit her job at his company & traveling to Europe soon because she knew that he only does short-term affairs). Liked that she wasn't that docile as to accept his casual mention of marriage between them after he found out she was pregnant. Liked H's realization & admission of his mistakes (ie., not breaking up with his GF sooner & instead made h think he was only using her while his GF was away). Liked H's dogged pursuit of h who was giving him a way out.

this was a nice enough read. i did enjoy it very much but... the 1st 50 pages, i really thought we were heading 4 a 5 star. however after dat, pippa got on my nerves !i was beyond irritated wid her ! she was supposedly damaged from the past but she did not act like some1 in pain, she was rather like a spoiled child..so much childishness n prone 2 hysterics. i dunno, i've never been pregnant.was it hormones having dat effect on her !? andreo was a dear ! he never 4 1 moment thought she cud be a gold-digger which is a so cliched trope in HP. he pursued her relentlessly n maybe her unwillingness was part of her attraction. he was so used 2 women making a beeline 4 the great andreo d'alessio !! pippa had a grude against andreo bcoz he made a bad comment on her appearance. this was blown out of all proportions. he was not running a model agency the last i heard!? lol:P he even suggested dat she go away 4 a holiday bcoz she looked "sloven" !!LOL

I selected this book, based on Lady D's review....and I am not disappointed. It is a truly sweet story, about a young woman who has suffered terribly at the hands of an abusive father and therefore not capable of loving or making a long term commitment. Talk about self-esteem issues. This poor soul has absolutely no personal self-worth. The only place she can really be herself is at work....However, even there she hides behind a thick set of glasses and wears ugly suits, 2 sizes too big.
She is so gun shy, she misses every positive, flashing, neon sign along the way. But in this story, the hero, never gives up......A major thumbs up for our hero, Andreo. He knows a good woman when he sees one, and makes every effort to stick to her like glue. Oh, how I love a hero who knows what he wants!
This is part of a series, so I find myself wanting to go backwards and forwards to get the rest.

Interesting book. I liked that the heroine was the one with commitment issues and not the hero. She was very cautious and the hero was very patient with her, he was so damn sexy! Not so great for a LG book though.

Not bad. The Hero was clearly besotted.
I liked that the heroine was a math genius.
I was glad her unethical boss and his undeserving mistress got fired.
I liked that the Hero and heroine had hot chemistry together.
I liked that the Hero had to run after the heroine to France. It was not that easy for him and at least he followed her as soon as he found her.
I did not like that the Hero didn’t finish with his casual girlfriend before taking up with the heroine. But I knew that this would cause s**t to hit the fan, so ok.
I didn’t like that the heroine kept having thoughts about running away.
All in all, not too much angst, and an easy read.

The h and the H meet. That same night (so almost immediately) they have sex. She doesn’t know who he really is. The next day she flees, shocked at what she has done. She finds out that she is pregnant. The H finds out that she is pregnant. Bla bla.
Lynne Graham is obsessed with pregnancies. All her h’s get pregnant. Other couples try for months or for years to get pregnant. For Lynne Graham’s h’s only one time sex is enough. Her h’s are the most fertile ever.
Oh yeah, and almost all her h’s are blonde and thin with small breasts, like this h.
So, that’s the review for almost all of Lynne Graham’s HP’s.

I could just not make myself like Pippa at all. Initially she was described as dowdy and that too coming from how she looks in the company’s professional employee profile picture. No woman who’s educated and holds a dignified job (head of accounting) should be so careless with her image.
Later she redeems herself a little. Dresses up and Andreo picks her out from hundreds attending the party and relentlessly pursues her the whole book! While Pippa has too many issues in her head for committing to him or even wanting children. Understandable but not ideal in an HP book. She was also way too tall, almost 6 feet. And while commitment phobe women who are taller than most men deserve their HEA, so do men who are average height and poor.
But that’s not what I come here to read about in an HP. Strictly good looking billionaires so the women should also keep that standard. Feminine and fragile. Any less gets a low star rating.
I expect better from LG. Pippa was annoying, crude, jumpy and non- endearing. Also should add, Andreo was a dreamboat H. He loved Pippa wholly and watched out for her all the time. He didn’t deserve Pippa !

I liked this one even tho the hero wasn’t as cold and cruel as LGs normal heroes. He makes an off the cuff remark about the heroines “slovenly” appearance which causes work repercussions for her. And when they meet, neither has any idea of who the other is. I love a good “mistaken identity” romance. This one was pretty low on angst and so I was surprised I liked it as much as i did. I’m only sticking around for HP romance for the cruel heroes and the angst and if that’s missing, I find these books boring and tepid. But surprisingly this one kept my attention.

There are times that I want to strangle the heroine. She's a pushover, bossy, etc etc etc.
But if a Hero is like Andreo then the heroine needs to be pushover, bossy, etc etc etc. Lels!

New boss sees the company's brochure and makes scathing comments about the apprarance of our heroine, one of the most competent dependable employees the company has. Based on these comments she misses out of promotion and her underling is promoted over her.
I enjoyed this one, the unnecessary comments gave me the overheard / angst that I so crave in these harlequins.

I thought the author did an amazing job with this beautiful love story. It’s a plot I’ve read often. The heroine, and hero are drawn together, and make love. The heroine gets pregnant, and by the end of the book they are madly in love.
This book was a bit different from the others I’ve read with this plot. Andreo’s was so tentative, and caring when it came to Pippa. He was never really a jerk. I loved all the Italian endearments he used when speaking softly to Pippa. It was Pippa that was scared of commitment, and was afraid of having her heart broken. She attempted to end things, and flee. I thought it was so sweet how he looked for her, and found her. The two had strong chemistry that drew them together. I also loved how Pippa was not afraid to speak her mind. I really got a kick at how Pippa was speaking about her new boss, and the things she said, not knowing that it was her new boss that she was talking too…sorry for the spoiler. I enjoyed this book, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I started it at night, big mistake, and ended up staying up all night reading, because I couldn’t put it down.

But although she had only just met him, she was attuned to his hunger with ever humming fiber of her physical being. What she was feeling terrified her and excited her in equal parts. “Lets get out of here” Andreo breathed deciding in the space of a moment that he could plead a prior engagement to escape the party. He extended a land to her. She could not think straight but she closed her fingers into his, unable to resist her own need to touch him.

Sexist, unapolagetic, chauvinist, jerkfaces are so not attractive, and I'm confused as to how the "hero" was attractive to the heroine, who was your typical naive virgin who has been told her entire life she's plain and ugly, when in actual reality she's actually mega beautiful sex on legs personified.
"Do you always take shameless advantage of the fact that you’re beautiful?"
What kind of jerkface pick up line is that?? And are you making her feel bad about being too beautiful, when just earlier you made a comment about her being a slob?? So apparently, women can't be slobs but they also can't be too beautiful. Wow. Just wow.
But this one takes the cake:
After Pippa told him that they were "just having sex," and how it wasn't real:
Andreo was outraged. Times without number he had slept with women and thought in exactly those terms, but no woman had ever treated him to a similar description. He felt insulted beyond relief and furious with her.

Pippa is one of only four or five LG heroines out of 120 books who is very tall, at 5 ft 11 in. She is 23 years old, a beautiful redhead, and very smart, with a degree in mathematics and finance.
Andreo is 30 and, of course, he is a gorgeous HP billionaire. As is typical for all LG heroes, he is very tall. Her heroes are never less than 6 ft 3 in and typically 6 ft 4 in, but Andreo is 6 ft 5, one of her tallest heroes.
This is a very sweet romance, and for the most part Andreo treats Pippa extremely well. She is rather a doormat at her job but she's not like that with Andreo, frequently going toe-to-toe with him, even after she finds out that he owns the company she works for (one of his many, many money-making enterprises) and is therefore nominally her boss. The Dark Period is brought on by Pippa's insecurities due to having a rotten childhood, not due to her needing to escape from and/or bring to his knees an arrogant, macho, HP hero--which is a refreshing change among standard HP heroes.

"The Italian Boss's Mistress" is the story of Pippa and Andreo.
What a fun read!
So the hero makes a disparaging remark about the heroine's appearance looking at a photo. Fast forward to the ambitious heroine losing on a promotion, learning the convoluted reason behind it and getting a makeover. She unknowingly sleeps with her boss, and regrets it.
What she does NOT expect is a smitten man hell bent on pursuing her..
I really enjoyed this one. The heroine is strong and stubborn, the hero is a goner. There is some miscommunications but the hero works hard on winning her trust. The only complaint I have is that her career talks disappear in the second half, and we dont explore her fear of pregnancy much but overall a great read.

this was a very different storyline from the ones i've read from ms. graham. this time around the mc, andreo fell in love w/pippa upon first site. throughout the story he showered her w/gifts & followed her to france to woo her again. pippa was also different than the usual female character ms. graham writes. pippa was a strong career driven woman who kept her emotions in check. the reason why i gave this 4 stars is that i felt no emotion towards pippa. andreo i absolutely loved ... what a catch! however i didn't think they matched. i still love the classic alpha male lynne graham novels where the men grovel towards the end.
