Christmas season in Alixandria is magical, the snowy air is festive with twinkling lights, holiday parties and mistletoe. Kindergarten teacher Dani Campbell is still settling into her new town. She just needs a break from the chaos of her old life. Finally she can breath, focus on herself and spend quality time with her dog, Sage. One morning she accidentally picks up a café mocha meant for Danny. Born and raised in Alixandria, fire fighter Danny Stewart is tired of being the hot topic of small town gossip. Focused on fixing up his grandparents' home, he’s taking a long pause from dating. One morning he receives a plain black coffee meant for Dani. Will sparks fly between Dani and Danny or will they go up in flames?
She’s a kindergarten teacher, he’s a firefighter for the small town of Alixandria. When their coffees get mixed up at the local coffee shop, sparks fly.
Alixandria Fire: Dani and Danny is a fun, cozy romance with everything you need: a meet cute, falling fast, tension, and a happy ending!
I loved Dani and Danny. They were both likeable, well-rounded, flushed out characters. They both had depth and real feelings, and as a reader I genuinely cared about them.
I also loved the Christmas vibes, but that it’s not all about Christmas. Sometimes you read or watch something that takes place during Christmastime and it's really a Christmas story with a side of romance (or whatever the genre), but this is clearly a romance story that happens to take place at Christmas time.
Plus, SWOON. Danny can save me from a fire any day.
Dani is new to the small town of Alixandria. Shes originally from Toronto and was looking for a change of pace after her short lived marriage ended. She is the new kindergarten teacher and is settling into her new life very well. She has a dog, a cute and cozy apartment, and has sworn off dating. Danny is a firefighter and has been in Alixandria his whole life. His family is close and he loves his little town but is tired of being the base of some small town gossip after his last relationship went up in flames. He has taken a long pause from dating and is focusing on his career and fixing up his late grandparents house. Dani and Danny have a chance meeting when their coffees get mixed up at the local café. From there they cant stop thinking about each other and a relationship eventually blooms. This was a very cozy, festive, and cute read. A closed door contemporary romance with all the small town feels, perfect for a cozy snowy night in!
This was such a sweet story that made me feel incredibly home sick! Set in Alixandria, a rural town outside Ottawa Dani and Danny meet accidentally when their coffee orders get mixed up. Dani is a kindergarten teacher, Danny is a firefighter. I absolutely loved all the characters, they were well thought out and worked really well for the story.
I absolutely loved that Danny brought Dani to the family farm so early.. which my husband did too.. and helped birth baby animals haha so many parts matched my own relationship it was fun!
I'm so excited to read more by this author, she is Canadian! I'm loving reading Canadian romances set in rural Canadian towns, they feel so cozy and make me feel at home.
The story flowed well, the writing was beautiful, and I enjoyed the romance between Dani—a caring, strong teacher, and Danny, a swoon-worthy firefighter. I loved all the music references and Sage, Dani’s adorable dog. Sprinkle in Christmastime and second chances and this novel is five stars!
Dani and Danny, an Alixandria Fire novel by Canadian author, Emily Murray was a light, enjoyable closed-door romance. I loved the name of the café; The Grumpy Sheep, where this story begins with the black coffee vs. café mocha mix-up. A café that serves flocks of grumpy sheep in need of their daily caffeine fix. And after reading this story I may have to try heating my Ginger Cookies before eating them. If you like small-town happily ever after Christmas stories, with a flannel-plaid-wearing firefighter hero, then this is a story for you.
Alixandria Fire: Dani and Danny is a wonderfully wholesome, cozy read. It reads like a small-town hallmark romance. There is a great balance of fun mixed with tension. The story is believable and in some ways I found myself relating to pieces of Dani and Danny.
This is a book I would absolutely recommend if you are looking for something light, warm, and fuzzy. It is incredibly sweet with a beautiful amount of charm.
I really wish I could give this book 5 stars, but I will settle for 4.
If you are looking for a cozy romance that is PG in nature and focuses on the emotions over doing the deed, this is the book for you! While the novel alludes to sex, it always fades to black, so if your preference for a book about falling in love is in line with that style, you are absolutely going to love this book.
The author has a GREAT voice. She's super easy to read and I found it hard to put the book down. The characters are all unique and I found myself enjoying each and every one of them. This is a feel good cozy romance with some emotional ups and downs, and at the end of the day you'll be smiling when you finally finish this book.
The only reason I can't feel right in giving 5 stars is that this book really needed an editor to come in and tighten it up before it was published. There are plenty of formatting issues and typos that distracted me from enjoying the story to its fullest. I understand that self publishing is hard, though! And even though the distractions were apparent, it didn't even remotely stop me from finishing this book in days. I easily could read a hundred pages a day, eating up the story as fast as I could while also having a full-time job.
I definitely recommend to those looking for a truly COZY romance read.
Emily Murray wrote this book and published it just before Christmas last year. I'm about six months late but I just finished it!
Danny and Dani meet over coffee in the sweet, snowy town of Alixandria. Dani is a kindergarten teacher and Danny is a firefighter. There's romance, a bit of drama, and of course 🔥
🎄 What I liked: I don't read a ton of romance books (obvs) but I loved the Christmas-y atmosphere of this book. It made it sweet and all the snow made it feel magical, somehow. I also loved reading a book set in Canada, and it made me wish it wasn't so dang hot here.
The characters were well rounded and I couldn't help but love them.
🎄 What didn't work for me: For the genre, I don't have a lot of complaints. It is a sweet, easy-to-read book. I prefer more action, but that's not on the book.
If you're looking for a sweet romance, add this one to your list – now or at Christmas time. So proud of you, Emily!
The story 0f Dani and Danny is a sweet meet-cute that grows into a burning hot romance, in just the right ways. I loved the cute, and slightly serendipitous way the two characters "meet" without meet, with the coffee mix up. And love the way Emily really showed us who the characters were. This is a great debut from Murray, and I look forward to reading the other stories in this series when they come out!
Alixandria Fire is a cozy romance which takes place in a small town during the Christmas season. Although Emily’s characters are fictional, she breathes life into them, and makes them relatable. Besides Dani and Danny’s attraction, the story included their relationship with friends and family. Although I found some repetition as the story unfolded, overall, I enjoyed Emily Murray’s first novel and would recommend it. I’m looking forward to her second novel.
Alixandria Fire: Dani and Danny was such a delightful read! I savored every page, taking my time to fully enjoy it during the holiday season. It had all the charm of a Hallmark Christmas movie, but with much more depth. I quickly became attached to the characters and found myself eager to discover what happened to them next. I also love that it was set in a small, Canadian town. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
This cozy holiday romance gives you all the feels.
Dani and Danny have a chance meeting after accidentally picking up the other's coffees. From there, the two go on their first date, and then their second, and then...
The kisses, the sparks, the second chances were enough to warm the heart. A feel-good read set in the most delightful town will have you wishing it were Christmas all year-round.
Absolutely loved Alixandria Fire Dani and Danny's story by Emily Murray. This book made me giggle a lot, made me cry, and gave me all the feels. It's such a beautiful story of the strength to start over and be open to love again told in the duel point of view of Dani and Danny. I absolutely loved how the author included many country songs into her story, such a unique touch.
I bought Emily's book about 2 months ago and so far all my friend have borrowed it to read. I finally got it back yesterday and cracked it open last night. Only 25 pages in and I'm already hooked. Can't wait for her second book to come out. Well written. Wonderful characters. A pleasure to read about while envisioning our local area. A definite MUST READ.
A light, easy to read escape novel. Emily crafts a realistic scenario of the developing relationship between Danny and Dani. Filled with descriptions to place you in the small Ontario town, you can easily get transported to the laid back community.
If you love small town romance stories, this is a good bet.
This was the sweetest, romantic, and most heartwarming book I have read in a while. I just loved everything about it and was sad when I finished reading it, I wish it could have been a longer book, just so I could stay lost between the pages just a while longer. I highly recommend you run and buy a copy from the author directly, she is the sweetest person ever.
I thoroughly enjoyed this breezy and light fun read. The author knows the romance genre well. Dani and Danny were relatable characters and though I quickly anticipated a happy ending, I was in no rush to get there, enjoying the story.
This is the first book in series and I look forward to reading the next one!
If you're looking for a well-written Christmas romance that has well-developed characters, this is the book for you! I really liked all the little details about the town the author added and the variety of realistic characters.
Aw this books has all the feels!! I love it, couldn’t put it down. Put me right in the holiday mood. The beauty of small town charm with romance, drama and everything in between is amazing! I loved it!
I really enjoyed this fun romance! I loved the pets in the book and the characters were amazing! I was home with a virus and finished it in 3 days! I am looking forward to the next book about Dani and Danny! I would read anything that this lovely author writes!
3.5! This was a sweet holiday romance with some complex topics and older main characters. While it could have used more editing, the story was warm, cozy and made me want it to be snowing out so I could enjoy a warm cup of coffee!
If you are looking for a sweet romance book to make you feel good this is the story you will need to read. Small town love story with firefighters, navigating new love after difficult relationships and learning to trust and love again.
Cute, corny romcom! I enjoyed the batter between Dani and Danny. I could picture them drinking coffee, walking the dog, or hanging out at his farmhouse. Light hearted, easy read.
What a sweet, feel good read! I love how there was a twist within a twist; I had to stay up WAY TOO LATE, to get to the end of the book 😍 I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
2.5 stars Well written but incredibly mundane and I had to force myself to finish it (only because I have a signed copy). I guess this is my cue to give up on contemporary romance…
