Getting pregnant then realising your baby daddy is a cheating, lying, scumbag? That happened.
But then Abel James walks into my life. One hot look from the broad-shouldered cowboy and I’m ready for all the sexy fun I won’t be having once I start showing.
Only one problem. He’s my father’s best friend and almost twenty years older than me.
He’s off limits. I’m completely forbidden. Even if the spark between us is undeniable.
So I get on a plane to Australia. One last trip to visit friends and work on their cattle station before I come home and face my future as a single mom.
But when I get on the plane, Abel is sitting next to me, running away for reasons of his own.
So now we have three months. Three months of sharing a bathroom. Three months of seeing each other every day, while trying to pretend there’s nothing between us but friendship.
Three months of falling in love with him, while keeping the biggest secret of my life.
Mother Bucker is a forced-proximity, father’s best friend, age gap romance. It has all the small-town cowboy vibes you love, with all the spice and a happily ever after. It can be read as a standalone.
USA Today Bestselling author Elle Thorpe is the author of over thirty romance titles, including Amazon top ten books, Start a War and Locked Up Liars. She is best known for her dark reverse harems, and sexy small town romances.
When she's not writing, she's probably out on her family's alpaca farm in rural Australia.
Let’s just get this out of the way, everything has been irritating me lately, and this book decided to join the party. 😑
From the very first page, it was more telling than showing. I felt like I was being read a summary of events, not experiencing a story. Like babe, please show me something, anything I’m begging. Every scene felt like someone giving me a half-hearted recap while scrolling their phone.
The time jumps? Absolutely criminal. Weeks would pass in the blink of a paragraph, and I never knew how long we were anywhere. Suddenly we’re in Australia, and… for how long? No clue. All vibes, no timestamps.
And don’t get me started on the plot twist that felt like a fever dream. SHE HID A WHOLE PREGNANCY. A pregnancy, as in a child, a tiny human, from the man she was SLEEPING WITH. He finds out by accident, and this man was convinced she was his forever. Does she give him time to process? Of course not. The very next morning she hops on a plane and LEAVES THE COUNTRY 💀
They do not speak for weeks. Literal radio silence. And then he returns and proposes. PROPOSES. And I’m supposed to believe this is true love? A happily ever after? Be serious.
Sorry if this reads like a rant, but no one in this book was using logic and I suffered for it. They irritated me so bad I feel like I need a recovery period.
Final thoughts: nothing made sense, emotions were rushed, and honestly? Even the drama was boring. Do not recommend. Oh and don’t even get me started on the crochet thing it was useless 😒
⋆. 𐙚 ˚ Pre Read ⋆. 𐙚 ˚ This sounds cute, I’m really hoping it helps me focus on crocheting because my show is not doing the trick 😔
Mother Bucker is a stand alone in the Dirty Cowboy series by Elle Thorpe. Each can be read as a stand alone, but I suggest if you enjoy this one to go back and read all Thorpe's other cowboys because I love them all! "I can't. If I kiss you , I won't be able to stop." I swallowed thickly."Is that a promise?" The fire in his eyes said it very much was.
Callie Hunt finds herself pregnant, and the baby's father wants nothing to do with it or her. She's used to being treated as an object, but she had hoped for different when she found herself with child. On the day of her sister's wedding, she meets older handsome Abel. The two have lust at first sight that get the brakes put on quickly when Abel realizes the woman he's lusting after is his good friend's daughter. He decides to accept a job offer in Australia to escape his attraction, that plan fails the moment she sits down next to him on the airplane. Callie and Abel are bedroom neighbors with an a connected bathroom making the sexual tension hard to ignore. Yet no matter how much Callie confirms his feelings are reciprocated, Abel knows they have to consider including their age gap and their families. Eventually he decides to give in and show Callie that she is worthy of being treated with respect and her body worshiped. But will the baby secret she's been keeping from him destroy any chance of a future between them.
Ahhh where to start, where to start. I don't think y'all realize I have been waiting FOREVER for this book ( insert the Titanic old lady meme of it's been 84 years) Thorpe has been successfully writing RH and that's not my jam, so I've been patiently waiting for her to show her cowboys some love and Mother Bucker did not disappoint. "Don't you know I'd do anything for you, Callie?"
Callie is fierce and headstrong. She's not afraid to go after what she wants when it comes to her mind and body. Abel is a handsome panty melting cowboy with a gentle heart. I absolutely loved them together. The way he tries to ignore her flirting, but the sexual tension and chemistry between them is palatable. Even while he's refusing to give into the urge to physically touch her, he finds ways to help her with her pleasure and this book delivers high steam. Abel brings Callie intimacy but also sweet moments that show her how worthy of love and respect she is. I couldn't get enough of these two and the ending was absolutely perfect, it made my heart happy. 🥰 Because kissing Callie, holding her against my chest, touching her curves and her skin...Nothing had felt like that in a very long time. If ever.
Overall, Mother Bucker is a fantastic cowboy romance with a hefty age gap, family, a secret, an impromptu muster, start gazing, wildflowers, stolen kisses, self pleasure, all the steam , and a warm and fuzzy happy ending. Fingers crossed, Elle Thorpe doesn't wait too long to give me more of her wonderful cowboy romances.
Loved the age gap. Loved the characters. Loved it ! It was cool to see Abel again if you've read the Dirty Cowboy series, he is Rems brother. I felt so much more chemistry in this than the previous one and read this faster than Buck You because I was so invested in knowing what was going to happen.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about an age gap for Abel and Callie, but dang! It was yummy. Abel was such a dedicated partner and truly showed up for Callie in all ways. I also loved how Callie’s family accepted and honored the relationship and the couples happiness, this could’ve been more of a blow up then it was!
The story is Callie is pregnant (from Jeremy) and he’s not interested in Callie or the baby. She goes to Australia to work with her cousins farm, to get some time away and figure out what she wants. What she didn’t expect was that to be her dad’s friend Abel. She thought she was getting away from Abel, but shocker - he was coming too!
They tried to stay away from one another, but the draw was too strong. Eventually they gave in and a good thing was going. Until Abel discovered Callie was pregnant … and she didn’t tell him. He was of course mad, and Callie fled back to the states away from Abel. He chased her down, and they got a wonderful HAE.
Not going to lie, when we got a preview of who Callie was going to wind up with, I was skeptical. I wasn't sure how it could work out, but I needn't have worried. Elle took that mother bucking issue and turned it into a positive point. Making their reunion that much easier.
Abel was everything and more than Callie expected—what she thought she deserved, and I loved every moment that he proved her wrong. He was patient, kind, caring, and everything else she had been missing with her previous partners.
I enjoyed seeing Callie finally feel that she was enough—would be enough, and ultimately, accept that Abel would be there for not only her, but her baby.
I really enjoyed getting to see all of our past MCs and catching up on their lives, it was a lovely end to the series. I just wish there were more stories to come!
Well, this was rather unexpected. I was skeptical about the couple—like, undeniably unbelievable—but the story turned out slightly better than book three (though still not touching the supremacy of book two, because duh, Summer and Dominic are my forever fav fr0m this series). I think I’m finally warming up to Elle Thorpe’s writing style: a bit draggy and unsure at first, fun and enjoyable in the middle, and surprisingly quite satisfying by the end.
Motherbucker surprised me in the best way. It took a pairing I was skeptical about and turned it into something tender, steamy, and emotionally satisfying. Callie, still reeling from past heartbreak and struggling with self-worth, finds herself face-to-face with Abel, a man who’s older, grounded, and exactly the kind of partner she never thought she deserved. Their age gap had me side-eyeing at first, but Abel’s patience, care, and quiet devotion made every moment between them feel earned. 💙
Their journey is layered with vulnerability, healing, and a slow unraveling of Callie’s walls. Abel doesn’t just show up—he stays, proving again and again that Callie is enough, not just for him, but for the future they’re building together. The spice was deliciously drawn out. Their chemistry builds from tension to tenderness, and the emotional payoff lands with full force. Bonus points for the family dynamics—supportive, warm, and drama-free in all the right ways. I didn’t expect to love this one as much as I did, but Elle Thorpe had made amend to her previous slightly trash book.
Sure, Callie's stubbornness still throwing me over the edge and I expect her character arc to be better tho in this was clearly not, or yeah, maybe just a tiny teensy bit. I want to scream in frustration and furious to her for keeping her pregnancy to Abel and also want to weep and sob for her bcs she had to do this alone (both when her jackass ex Jeremy rejected her and when Abel was disappointed in her). At last, I was glad when she finally comes to her senses. The sudden problem when that dipshit ex was showed up and asked her the second chance had me grimacing so hard and the abrupt conclusion got me side-eyeing Elle Thorpe writing style so bad. But I guess it was all pay off by reaching the epilogue of this story. Abel, Callie, and Winter would’ve made the perfect little family my heart could burst. And the lack of bonus content for them had me mourning and wanting to cursing Elle Thorpe for not to had the bonus content for them.
Massive appreciation to Stella Hunter and JF Harding for narrating this entire chaotic, emotional, swoon-filled series. Their duet performance was smooth, immersive, and packed with voice chemistry that made every couple feel real. They didn’t just read the story, they breathed life into it. Without them, some scenes might’ve fallen flat, but instead? Every beat landed, every emotion hit, and the whole experience was elevated. I’m genuinely grateful for how much they brought to the table. 🎧🫶🔥
Overall, this series had the enjoyable vibes for me. The found family energy was flawless. Loyalty, comfort, and unhinged antics wrapped in cozy small-town vibes. Each book will give the reader whiplash of various emotions. And this series is perfect for those who seek a small-town cowboy romance!!!🐎🐂🏘️❤️💛💜💙
And I forget to mention another thing that happen in that epilogue. It had me side-eyeing Henry and the mystery woman he might be circling. I need answers. Catching up with past couples only fueled my curiosity more than I was emotionally prepared for. So yes, I’m officially on a mission to binge the Dirty Cowboy series next. Because if Elle Thorpe’s gonna keep feeding me cowboy chaos, I’m not tapping out anytime soon. 💥🏃🏻♀️
Elle Thorpe’s Buck Cowboys series was such a fun ride! While all four books work as standalones, they’re best read in order, especially as a follow-on from her Dirty Cowboys series—this time focusing on the daughters and staff of Addie and Frost’s ranch.
Each book had its own tropes (second chance, friends-to-lovers, found family, Virgin, Pregnancy, age gap) and I loved how realistic and heartfelt the storylines felt. The spice was tastefully done and well-balanced with emotion. Thorpe’s writing style is so easy to get into—once I started, I didn’t want to stop!
I also really prefer the updated covers. Books with models on the front give me the ick—I like imagining what the characters look like as I read, without the cover influencing me. So this was a great call changing them up. :)
Only minor downsides for me were not revisiting Felix, the occasional word error and honestly, I could’ve happily read more had there been more. All in all, I had a bucking good time.

Callie and Abel were the pairing I never saw coming! I really liked them together - they had great chemistry and I loved the sense of tension. This story is emotional and heartfelt and some really sweet moments.
I thought the audio for this was great! I am huge fan of the two narrators and they did such a good job voicing Callie and Abel. You could feel the tension and chemistry and emotions. This was a great ending to the series!!!

This book- just like the others in the series, was a great cowboy/yellowstone’ish read…. But this one didn’t hit the same spot.
Not sure if it was the age gap, or the fact that there was a secret pregnancy (I don’t like this trope at all) but it didn’t hit the same mark for me as the others.
Elle Thorpe is still one of my automatics from KU, so this is by no means going to turn me off from her other series!
Mother Bucker (Buck Cowboys #4) by Elle Thorpe is a contemporary forbidden age-gap cowboy romance told in first person dual POV. Although it's the fourth book in the Buck Cowboys series, it can be read as a standalone, but for the fullest experience, I’d recommend reading the previous two books about Callie’s sisters first. Also, if you've read any of Thorpe's Dirty Cowboy series, you'll recognize some characters in this one as it follows the next generation. Abel James is Rem’s brother from Sexy Dirty Cowboy, and Callie Hunt is the daughter of Kai and Addie from Ride Dirty, Cowboy.
Callie and Abel meet at a wedding and instantly hit it off, sharing an immediate attraction. Sparks are flying, and both are looking forward to leaving together and satisfying their physical desire for each other. But plans change when they find out that Abel’s good friend, Kai, is Callie’s father. Whoops! Furthermore, both are shocked when they’re seated next to each other on an airplane and learn that they’ll be working together at the Barclay’s ranch in Australia for the next few months.
Will they be able to resist each other? Will they both even try? What will happen if they give in to their attraction? How will their friends and family react? Also, Callie’s literally carrying a very big secret—the kind of secret that won’t be able to remain hidden as the months pass. What will happen when Abel finds out the truth?
I loved Abel and Callie’s story! After having met them both in earlier books, I was really looking forward to it. I wasn’t disappointed at all. I enjoyed the sexual tension as Callie relentlessly pursued Abel and he tried to resist her. It was also great to see how much Callie grew up and matured. In the previous book, she came across as selfish and spoiled, and in this one, she made a real effort to change, determined to be better for the daughter she’d soon have.
I loved how Abel took his time with Callie, determined to make her understand her worth and show her how she deserved to be treated. It was also great to catch up with so many characters from previous books, and there was a fun little Easter egg for fans of Jolie Vines's Wild Scots in there too. Mother Bucker was steamy, sweet, sexy, and so much fun. Highly recommended!
I have loved this series- it's just so much fun! Sexy, super sweet, drama is quickly resolved, and they are fast and enjoyable reads.
I adore age gaps, and while cowboy isn't usually my favorite, Elle does it just right. I loved how all the characters interconnect, and this book in particularly was brimming with past characters (but dont worry if you don't know them, this is 100% standalone friendly). I ravenously gobled up the first part of this one as the tension and sexual chemistry lit up between Abel and Callie. Not only do we have a very significant age gap (YUM) but it's also extra forbidden since Abel is her father's friend, and Abel's brother is practically her uncle. Elle does a good job of relocating them so they can explore their romance is a less risky setting, and I loved the more intensive ranch setting and sneaking around with these two. And the OMG add in the other twist- a secret pregnancy that is most decidedly NOT Abel's. These tropes are my catnip.
The sexual chemistry is fantastic, these two are HOT. Abel is pretty dreamy most of the time- protective and encouraging and SO delicious. And I loved how he validated and believed in Callie. Callie we met in prior stories, and she wasn't always likable in them because of her past with a certain hero (her sister's man)...BUT I loved her redemption in this. I loved how Elle shows us a new side of her, her vulnerability, her growing up inspired by her. We saw her as selfish and bratty, and now we get to see her as vivacious and hurting, drowning in the sparkle of others. I felt for her so much, and I loved her sass (and how she was the aggressor in the relationship), but I loved the most her heart. Elle made us love her.
This was a quick and enjoyable read overall, though I wish we'd had a bit more emotional development between these two, especially with the heavy weight Callie is carrying. The relationship is a bit insta, which I'm fine with, but it never really evolves beyond the physical ON PAGE- I wish we'd spent more time with them at their secret escape to see them get to know each other well. And, if you've read the other books, there are some minor inconsistencies. (Like Callie's age) This didn't impact my fun, but I know some folks are sticklers for that.
🤠 Mother Bucker by Elle Thorpe. Buck Cowboys book 4.
💭 “I’m already halfway gone with you. I let you touch me, and it’s a slippery, downhill slope into me never letting you go.”
Review ➡️ I must say, it felt like forever that I was waiting for this book, I adore all Elle’s Saint View stories, but her cowboys… has a special place in my heart, since they were the ones that made me start reading her books. And Abel and Callie’s story was everything and more, take a look to what it had: age gap, her dad’s best friend, cowboys, small town and she got pregnant right before meeting him. It had everything yummy, emotional, low key drama, friendships, family and plenty of sexy scenes.
I loved that both Callie and Abel were looking for a change in their lives, trying to find their footing in the world and they suddenly opportunity arose in Australia! What a ride… literally! At first they felt this incredible connection and they knew that once they gave in to their attraction, it’d be a no return way. However they resist (a little), afraid of the unknown, of the forbidden and to mess up a good thing they had in Australia.
I mean, with that much fire they had just for being close to each other, it was obviously it wouldn’t take long to combust and it did. They were so good together, so good. Even though she was much younger than him, they both gave strength to each other and a love they missed their whole life. Obviously not everything would be sunshine and flowers, my heart broke and I felt so emotional. Being the black sheep of the family, Callie overcame so much and she has my heart.
Now see, my number 1 cowboy is still Johnny, the OG cowboy, but wow Abel comes second close, he’s the whole package, just gonna say that. I don’t know if Elle is going to write more cowboys in the future, I really hope so though. And she left a GREAT open for a new series there in the end. I’m crossing my fingers!
"I can't. If i kiss you, I won't be able to stop."
"Is that a promise?"
This book had me in my feelings, i was laughing, smiling, and full blowen, bawling my eyes out 😭
This was by far my absolute favorite of the Buck Cowboy series. It's such an amazing story. The spice was absolute perfection 👌
This book had me in a choke hold Callie an Ables story is so geniune, so heart felt so emotional it took you for one hell of a ride. These two found each other at the perfect but worst time.
Callie is a head strong woman who got pregnant and the guy wants nothing to do with her or the baby, so she takes off to australia for 3months to work of her cousins station ranch, to clear her mind an give her self some time to figure out what to do.
Abel, who is a long-time family friend of her dad's from back in the WBRC days, also happens to be going to Australia. He didn't expect to see callie again. Now there, both on a plane headed to the same place. The chemistry between them is undeniable.
They try to fight it, but you can't hide from fate.
"If i let you, there's no turning back for me, callie. Because i know how good you're going to feel.
"I'm already halfway gone with you. I let you touch me, and it's a slippery, downhill slope into me, never letting you go."
Callie deserved her happily ever after. She finally found her a man who treated her so kindly and loved her and her baby so fiercely. Abel is honestly amazing, such a dedicated partner, showing up for callie in always possible, proving to her that she is so much more than she sees herself, showing her what true love and kindest are.
This book was absolutely beautiful, and im so sad to see it end 😢. Again, elle thorpe has written an amazing book and series 👏 ❤️
This is one of my favorite books in this series. This book will tear at your heart and leave your faith restored that love will conquer all. Abel & Callie are not the ideal couple on the outside but when they are together there is so much love, devotion, and passion for each other that their love explodes off the page. Abel is an absolute perfect man and his love and commitment to Callie is so powerful and beautiful. He is worried because of their age gap but when he is around her she is all he sees, she is the air he needs to breathe, and without her nothing feels right. He never felt this way about anyone before but she is his old dear friend's daughter Kai and he won't jeopardize their relationship by pushing to be with Callie. Callie is beyond smitten by Abel. He is everything she never knew she needed and now that she has had a taste she can't get enough. He is more than undeniably handsome, he is kind, devoted, a hard worker, and cares for his friends like family. He is the perfect man and she doesn't know if the secret she is keeping is going to push him away. She wants to tell him everything but she doesn't know how to do it and she can't imagine not being with him. Her world is turned upside down but with the guidance of her amazing friends and the man she is slowly falling in love with she is beginning to figure it all out. This story is going to sweep you off your feet and make your heart happy. This is a perfect ending to this amazing series. Elle Thorpe is the queen of cowboy romances and she hit it out of the park with Abel & Callie's story. Happy Reading!!

Ah, Callie’s story… oh, and Abel of course! Callie holds a special place in my heart because she always felt she didn’t stack up to either of her sisters. Not that she’d ever been made to feel inferior as such, but words can hurt so much even when they aren’t meant in a negative way.
The age gap was a tad worrying for me in the beginning, I am always honest, but as the story unfolds it faded into the background more and more. The chemistry between Abel and Callie was incredibly intense and through Abel, Callie learns so much about life and herself. He is such a gentleman and holy moly what a gorgeous man, inside and out.
I don’t want to give too much away but will say that this story has all the ‘feels’, it burrows under your skin and heads straight to your heart, where it stays lodged. It is a fabulous way to end a series and I totally recommend it to anyone who enjoys strong, virile men, sassy females, great humor, a sensitive romance, and country living.
I really enjoyed this - it’s actually the last book in the second generation of this cowboy series, so I’ve started from the end 😂 BUT it’s not my fault, I was seduced by the age gap/ fathers best friend trope. Sue me.
I loved Callie and Abel’s story a lot; Callie was so so grown up for a woman in her early 20’s super refreshing to read about her maturity with her pregnancy situation and eventually dealing with it whilst having a relationship with Abel.
We had a little insta-lust but then it turned into such a good slow burn and I loved the setting of a ranch in Australia. I really liked the secret looks and the flirty banter and the back and forth they had.
This is my first foray into the cowboy world and I’m actually really glad I have entered it. I will certainly go back to the beginning of the first generation cowboys do read the parents stories as I really liked the glimpses we get in this book of them and their grown up children.
Elle never really disappoints me - like at all. She’s a one click purchase for me all the time and I’ll never stop enjoying her books and I’m just sorry it took me FOREVER to read her cowboy series. I’m gonna go ahead and go back to the beginning now and read Bowen and Paisley’s story.
I have been waiting for Callie and Abel’s story and it was worth the wait!
I adored both Callie and Abel. Callie is pregnant, but her family doesn’t know. It is something she is keeping to herself. She doesn’t feel like she is good enough to raise a child and she wants her child to have the best life possible. She doesn’t feel like she deserves a lot of things. Abel is divorced, he has been hurt in the past when it comes a relationship. Abel is so much more than expected, the man has many different sides to him and I loved seeing those sides come out. Despite their age difference and that he is her fathers best friend, Abel is perfect for Callie. It isn’t all smooth sailing for these two and there are some bumps along the way.
The chemistry between Callie and Abel from the start is off the charts. They are drawn to each other from the moment they meet, however, they don’t cross the line right away and it is filled with addictive tension. When the line is crossed….the spice, the passion, the heat. I was here for it all.
It is bittersweet that this is the end of this series, however, I hope there are still more cowboys in the future cause I love them.
If you’re looking for an age gap, cowboy, forced proximity, fathers best friend romance check this one out.
I'm in love with Abel. Callie was such a breath of fresh air too.. As a woman that is known as the 'wild child' of her family, it's beautiful seeing her grow throughout the book. Abel is just.... YUM. He has a somewhat sad backstory and you feel for him throughout.
I admit, I cried a handful of times while reading this. AND I THOUGHT ADDIE AND KAI'S STORY GOT TO ME. Callie and Abel had a tough go of it. Abel, being Callie's fathers (Kai) friend, it makes it difficult for them to be open about their feeling and spend a lot of time fighting it. Afraid of being judged, losing friends and family and just straight up fighting their own feelings along the way.
The climax got me though. I mean the book, not Callie and Abels.... Although..... hahaha. When Elle mentioned that she cried while writing this, I now know why. I loved these characters and loved this story. Seeing old characters from both the Buck Cowboys series and Dirty Cowboy series makes this that much better.
Elle Thorpe will forever be an instant read/buy for me. She could write anything and I know I'll love it to bits, but this is easily one of my favourites. I'd love to be able to rate this higher than 5 stars.

Mother Bucker is part of the Dirty Cowboy series and while it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the other books in the series. Mother Bucker features Callie and Abel. Callie is described as a wild child who finds herself pregnant and the father wants nothing to do with it. At her sister's wedding she meets Abel and there is instant attraction. The only trouble is not only is he older than her, he is friends with her father. They both end up in Australia together where their bedrooms are next door to each other with a shared connecting bathroom. Abel tries his hardest to resist Callie but in the end fails, but Callie hides her pregnancy from him and chaos occurs.
I love these cowboy books. In fact I have loved everything Elle has written and this one didn't disappoint. I loved Callie and Abel, Callie is strong-willed and Abel is a kind and caring cowboy. The chemistry between them is so strong. I really enjoyed getting to see all of the other past main characters and catching up on their lives. If you enjoy a cowboy age-gap romance then this is the book for you.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Cowboy Romance / Age Gap / Fathers Best Friend / HEA
Buck Cowboys #4 - Abel James is a guest at a friend’s wedding when he notices one of the bridesmaids looks as though she’ll pass out. She disappears after the vows wrap up, and he finds her sitting in the shade trying to catch her breath. Callie Hunt is pregnant and just finished her first trimester and finally feels human again, but the heat of the day was too much. She and Abel share a conversation that looks like it will develop into something more when Callie’s dad interrupts them. Callie and Abel are both shocked to learn who each other is, having not seen each other in many years. Abel was offered a job in Australia to work for a friend and now accepts the offer so he can distance himself from Callie. When Callie decides to also go to Australia for three months, who is she seated next to on the long flight? These two were so much fun as they tried so hard to resist each other. I have loved all the cowboy books, but this one may be my favorite.
Callie Frost and Abel James meet at a wedding and have an instant interest in each other, until Abel discovers that she is the daughter of a good friend. Suddenly, the age gap seems too large. Callie is pregnant from a prior relationship, and the baby daddy wants nothing to do with her, and basically assumes the baby is someone else’s. It’s not a happy time for Callie. Her aunt invites her to Australia for a few months to get her mind off of things, and she accepts. However, Abel has also accepted a job there, in part to keep him from thinking about Callie. Oops!!
This is a fun story with some interactions with protagonists from prior stories in this series. It’s fascinating to see the kids all grown up and marrying, and the older adults still together and happy. There are challenges to overcome for Abel and Callie, but they do face them fully and are better for it. There’s an interesting twist near the end that suggests that there may be more stories in the future for this group!
Elle Thorpe saved the best for last in the Dirty Cowboys series. They've all been great, but Abel and Callie take it up a notch. Part of that could be the age-gap trope, which is one of my favorite romance tropes (maybe because I had my own age-gap romance for close to 20 years). Then again, it could just be that Abel is an absolute swoony sweetheart and everything the feisty Callie needed in her life. Whatever the reason, I couldn't get enough of this couple. It's not hard to figure out where the relationship angst is gonna come from., and to be honest, I felt like the response was justified. Of course, that bit of angst makes for a big makeup gesture, and I'll just say that it was pretty darn perfect. I hated to see this series come to a close, but I feel like this was a good way to finish it up. It was nice to get to visit with so many past couples. So, if you like age-gap romance or cowboys, I'd suggest giving this one a read. Even if you don't care for the trope, I'd say check it out anyway. I'm betting you'll not be disappointed.
MOTHER BUCKER (Dirty Cowboy) by Elle Thorpe is a father's best-friend, age-gap romance. It can be read as a standalone but sad to hear it is the last book in the Dirty Cowboy Series. Lucky for me I own them all and can read them again if I'm so inclined.
Abel James was at a wedding that his brother & wife had dragged him to attend. It was a bridesmaid that caught his attention. Her name is Callie Hunt and he seemed to see that she was not feeling well. No one else seemed to notice. When she left & slipped away from the wedding. He couldn't help but follow. Abel found a wave of pure attraction to his angel in distress. But when he found out she was his friend's daughter, then he had to let her go. When they found themselves on a plane bound for Australia, fate would place them closer together than even they might have had thought. They ended up sharing one bathroom and two bedrooms. This was for a 3-month period of time. Three months of falling in love but keeping the baby she carried a secret.
I can’t believe I read the last book of this series. I’m sad to say I’m done, I want so much more. I’d love to read all the remaining kid’s stories, especially Aiden, Lily and Henry- and I’m curious to know what that was all about with Henry and Ava! And I’d give anything for Creed’s story. Abel and Callie’s story was just as good as all the others. I had tears in my eyes when Abel was proposing to Callie and he said “Someday, you and I? We’re gonna watch some young cowboy sweep in and claim her heart, but I’ll know I was the one who loved her first. Because I already do, Callie. I love the two of you so f****** much. So please, because this is torture. Say you’ll marry me”. Oh my god, my heart at that! Elle definitely knows how to write amazing stories and her characters are perfect! This entire was beyond amazing, it was beautiful, it was emotional and heartbreaking at times, exciting and funny, and one of the best I’ve read! I definitely recommend this book, but definitely start from book 1- Bowen and Paisley’s story.
Damn Elle, she just keep knocking them out of the ring. I absolutely loved this book and getting more of Elles Cowboys.
This is an age gap love story featuring one of the OG cowboys daughter Callie and the gorgeous bullfighter Abel. These have an instant connection when they meet up it’s before they realise who each other is. Once they find that out it’s a little messy and almost heart breaker as their HEA’s are within touching distance but so much is stopping it from going ahead.
But Callie’s love life has a bit of a timeframe with the impending birth of her baby so if they even stand a chance that is another hurdle they must get over on top of all the rest.
This book is brilliant, like all the other work by Elle so if you haven’t read any of her book I HIGHLY recommend it.
I was lucky enough to receive and ARC copy of Motherbucker and for that I am very grateful.
