Miss Mallard is surfing in Hawaii when she and her surf instructor come across a long-lost artifact important to the local culture. They are ready to celebrate its return, but then it goes missing again. Who could have stolen the stone?
A nice little mystery in which Miss Mallard employs some criminal psychology to uncover the thief. The setting is great. Always pay attention to the illustrations in Miss Mallard mysteries. They frequently include extra clues. Hand this to a little arm chair sleuth or mystery fan who also likes Hawaii settings.
As an adult, the stories are simplistic. For a child (mine is 7), they are an amazing introduction to mystery stories. My 7-year old stayed up late in bed every night for a week reading 10 books from this series. We were introduced to Surfboard To Peril through his Literati Book Club subscription and I bought the 10 book box set for him as a Christmas gift. Mysteries are my favorite genre and I can now share that love with my 7-year old.
On vacation in Hawaii, Miss Mallard discovers a lost ancient stone that will end a rivalry between two native villages. But when the stone goes missing, which of the suspects is to blame?
