A stinkbomb becomes a deadly weapon in Horrid Henry's long-running war with Moody Margaret; he uses all his guile to win the school reading competition, only to find the longed-for prize is not what he expected; he goes for a sleepover and retreats in horror when he finds that other people's houses aren't always as nice as his own; and he has the joy of seeing Miss Battle-Axe ticked off by the Head when he knows it was all his fault. In short, another vintage HORRID HENRY title!
Francesca Simon grew up in California and attended both Yale and Oxford Universities, where she specialised in Medieval Studies. How this prepared her to write children’s books she cannot imagine, but it did give her a thorough grounding in alliteration.
She then threw away a lucrative career as a medievalist and worked as a freelance journalist, writing for the Sunday Times, Guardian, Mail on Sunday, Telegraph, and Vogue (US). After her son Joshua was born in 1989, she started writing children’s books full time. One of the UK’s best-selling children’s writers, Francesca has published over 50 books, including the immensely popular HORRID HENRY series, which has now sold over twelve million copies.
Francesca won the Children’s Book of the Year in 2008 at the British Book Awards for Horrid Henry and the Abominable Snowman. HORRID HENRY is published in 24 countries and is also an animated CITV series. She lives in London with her husband, son, and Tibetan Spaniel, Shanti.
Jedna z pierwszych wypożyczonych książek z biblioteki szkolnej, więc mam do niej dość wielki sentyment, choć mówiąc szczerze, nawet wtedy nie cierpiałam postaci Karolka. Wiem też jednak, że wówczas podobały mi się jego przygody i pokazany humor, stąd zostawiam ocenę, jaką też wcześniej postawiłam ów książce na innym portalu (lcz).

I chose this book because my mom recommend this book to me and i like the cover and the word stink bomb.I did not see the movie because i don't know if there is one and if there was i would go see it.I loved the setting a lot.It was described very well you could picture it in your head. But you don't feel like you are in the book though.I like other books that have the same setting as this one.I loved the characters and loved Horrid Henry the most he is funny and dumb sometimes.I did not like Moody Margret she is a brat right?Henry and Margret did not like each other.I loved the book so much i rated it 5 STARS!I would recommend this book to a friend in a hart beat!My favorite part of the book was when Henry set off a stink bomb in Margret's tent it was funny.
Dead fish and Rotten eggs stinkbomb? Dreadful! And then having their victory drinks Dungeon drink spiked? Awful. New Nick's family is noiser than Henry. And Lispy Lily was Henry's personal nightmare. It was fun seeing Henry out of depth for once.

hhaha these books are great and I will continue to read them again and again because they are simply fantastic and I love them so much because they make me laugh so much
Lively writing, and boisterous boys will be eager to find out just to what extent Horrid Henry can get away with abominable behaviour. Unfortunately, I found the stories forgettable. Aside from him creating fake book reviews to emerge tops in a reading competition, I forgot the stories as soon as I finished reading the book.
(Still, I teach third graders English, and it was a pleasure to come across some of their vocabulary words: rumble, snarl, scream)
I didn’t read the last story because I already read it and I liked all the other three chapters because they were utterly wicked and it was very cool because on the third story, they were practicing and studying about the Egyptians and it was very good.
I'd give this book 0 stars if I could. It was the worst book I've ever read and I actually regret reading it to my 6yo. The book says that it has laugh-out-loud stories. I didn't laugh once. In fact, I was appalled that anyone would think it was funny. The only thing the author got right is that Henry truly is horrid. Children don't need to be reading books about this kind of behavior....and worst, to think it's funny.
Although the Horrid Henry series is not a personal recommendation but my daughter is a huge fan. Here is one from the collection we recently read together. Key stage one children seem to be addicted to these books but if it gets them to enjoy reading then it is fine by me.

Once again, I find myself reading Horrid Henry. I have loved some of these, and hated others. This one falls right in the middle. I really like the first and third stories (especially the silly slapping incident, heehee) but the second one was just annoying instead of funny, and the final story was just weird (not in a good way). This series has been frustrating to read -- some have been wonderful, some have been terrible, and some -- like this one -- are just okay. *sigh*
this is the 4th or 5th book that i have read in this series.
sorry to say that the stories getting to be repetitious. Henry being horrid /naughty. he uses his brain to achieve what he wanted but he always end up being the loser.
for those who read this book as 1st or 2nd book of this series , i would say it worth 3 or 4 stars but after reading few similar plot.....i hope subsequent book will have some changes
