*audiobook- narrated by the author* I cannot recommend this book enough. If you would like an insight into my career, or just a heads up about how you can contribute to the life of your family and friends then give this a listen. His stories are accurate, mesmerising, emotional and informative. I loved the delve back into the past when the first ventilator was effective and much more. It will be a hard listen and you do not need any medical knowledge to understand it. I will certainly listen to it again. Great work Matt Morgan.
*audiobook* Wow. From qualifying as a nurse until very recently 10 years on, I have been a critical care nurse. It’s the most wonderful job in the world. This book sums up that world perfectly. Perfectly written so anyone even without a medical background can understand it, touching personal patient stories, and a deep personal take on what it is to be a critical care professional. Just loved this book. I loved learning more about the history of critical care and inventions of things we use daily now. Highly recommend to anyone! Especially to my loved ones who want a glimpse into my life as a critical care nurse!
I like looking at life from different lens. The medical details described by the author are probably more relevant to practitioners in the healthcare sector, but the life lessons and reflections are priceless. Indeed, good health is one of life blessings that tend to be taken for granted.
Dr Matt Morgan has managed to write a captivating and interesting book about the stories from intensive care units. This book highlights the highs and the lows of working in intensive care, whilst also discussing cases of patients who have been treated within the unit. I found the book was well written, and the patient stories were told in relation to different systems within the body, which meant that they were clear and easy to understand and follow. The stories of the patients have touched my heart, and you are able to feel Dr Matt Morgan’s passion for his job as you read further into this book.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is considering a career in medicine, or to those who are interested in learning more about the ins and outs of an intensive care unit. I would also recommend this for anyone who is simply interested in the life of doctors or the workings of the NHS/hospitals.
