good book I've seen pretty much all the Anne of green gable movies and episodes I love them all the book is pretty spot on with everything they just changed a few things in the film. If you like a strong girl with pure imagination and that can talk I definitely recommend reading this there's a bit of romance starting to grow. but Gilbert and Anne end as friends at the end of this book the more romantic side of things happens more in Anne of Avonlea not that I've read it but I've watched part two of the movie.
Anne is an orphan, Mariella and Matthew are brother and sister and they want to adopt a boy to help them with their farm because Matthew is worried about his heart, but instead they get Anne, Mariella doesn't want her but Matthew feels bad the put her on trial to see if they want to keep her in the end the love her as their own.
Anne becomes best friends with Dianna Barry Gilbert teases Anne about her hair colour calling her carrots which makes her lose her temper, and from that point on she had decided never to speak to him.
I won't spoil the whole book but I must warn you, she can talk. after read ing the book I recommend watching the OG Anne of Green gables movies and Anne with an E episodes.

Normally, I take long to finish a classic, but this one was so easy to read. I watched the Show „Anne with an E“ and therefore had to read this book and it didn‘t disappoint me at all. Anne is just a kindred spirit to me and I loved watching her growing up. The dialogues between her and Marilla showed how empathetic Anne really is and how much imagination she truly has. The love for friendship is beautifully captured aswell. I hope my future daughter will like this book as much as me and I will definitely read more of the series!!
some parts brought tears to my eyes. as I read it I imagined the characters from the 1985 movie talking, although the movie doesn't follow the book so closely and is more focused on building the romance, but I love both of them. this is a comfort read.
