CVBF author for 2009. Bukoski is a grandson of Polish immigrants who currently (in 1993) teaches literature, writing, and composition at UW-Superior. The Poles, Asians, and Native Americans polulation Bukoski's stories are all "children of strangers" caught between two cultures-straining to fit into the larger alien community on the one hand and to maintain their ethinic identity in the face of its impending moral, psychologicalo, and spiritual decline on the other. I am interested to hear Bukoski's take on the further decline/development of the racial divide in Superior. It was easy to "enter" each short story and become part of the community. Brutal, at times.
