About the author

Abby Duran is a narrative strategist and spoken word artist committed to finding value in others while transforming anger into art, recognized by Charleston Scene as one of Charleston’s Most Influential Women in the Arts.

A representative of the Charleston Free Verse Poetry Community. Her words are featured in Mental Health America of South Carolina Anthology and commissioned by HALO for Singers & Stanzas, and by We Coast Studios for Ritual & Release.

In 2025, she was selected to represent the Lowcountry at the Soda City Poetry Festival and the Morris Heritage Center’s Story Fest. She's been featured in SoFar Charleston, Jersey City's WAYE Reading Series, and performed at the internationally acclaimed Philly's Voices in Power and at the legendary Nuyorican Poets Cafe in NYC.

Duran writes with a flowing voice that tells stories weaves images like playing cards, cocoons, and canvas all into one poem. The poems in this collection ask questions, reflect, and wonder.
