This review is for the 2017 edition. Jesus tells his disciples to become like little children. Mr. Miller applies this to prayer and helps us to understand we do not need to first get all cleaned up to come to him, but come to him without pretense, uncensored, weary, heavy laden, empty-handed. It is hard to do this because we are allergic to helpless, but we have a Father ready to give us His rest. We are cynical. It is so pervasive in our culture, we can't get away from it and in turn we question the active goodness of God on our behalf. Mr. Miller writes on 6 cures that Jesus gives for our cynicism. This is just the first half of the book. In the last half, Mr. Miller helps us to understand what it means to live in His story and a section on practical tools for an active prayer life. But it isn't just an active prayer life, it is so much more. I feel hope again and purpose to my prayer life, becoming aware of the divine story my soverign God is weaving, concentrating on knowing God, the person of God, not the prayer itself. The focus is Him. He is the center, not my converstions with him. Highly recommend this book to fellow believers who desire to get to know their Father better, not just talk about Him, but have a relationship with him.

This was such a good read! There were pages I read with tears in my eyes. It’s so beautiful that we have access to God to all times. I’m encouraged to pray with childlike faith and honesty. One of the things I enjoyed the most about this book is how Miller weaves in stories from his personal life. I loved this book and would highly recommend it!
