Angels Watching Over Me by Gabrielle Meyer is a well-plotted mystery about an antique ruby and diamond ring initially given by King Charles II in 1663 to the Earl of Shaftesbury, Sir Anthony Ashley Cooper. This ring is one of eight that the king gave to the Lords Proprietors of Carolina.
This Miracles & Mysteries of Mercy Hospital series revolves around the hospital in Charleston, South Carolina. In Angels Watching Over Me, Jeanne Robertson is in a car accident and loses part of her memory. Evelyn Perry is the head of the records department at Mercy. She is our protagonist in this cozy story. She befriends Jeanne and tries to help her understand what happened to her the day of the accident. Evelyn is also in charge of keeping Jeanne’s antique ruby and diamond ring safely locked away until Jeanne leaves the hospital.
Someone is trying to steal the ring. Clues abound and so do possible perpetrators. Evelyn and her friends at Mercy Hospital need to discover the culprit before Jeanne is cheated out of her inheritance left by her Uncle Tony. But Angels Watching Over Me is also about family and friend relationships and how we can all help each other maintain or repair those relationships by actually listening to each other.
If you’re looking for a feel-good cozy mystery, then Angels Watching Over Me by Gabrielle Meyer is the book for you.
Very enjoyable. This was my first book to read in the series and I felt she did a very good job of connecting me to the characters even though I didn't know them. Definitely can stand on its own. It is engaging and entertaining....exactly the kind of cozy cottage mystery I needed! The news is too filled with horrors, I liked this book because there was mystery and intrigue, but it didn't give me negative feelings.
A nice cozy mystery from talented writer Gabrielle Meyer. Great use of red herrings as I kept switching back and forth who was the culprit. Great twist at the end; though it did stretch disbelief a bit at someone's actions. But overall really enjoyed this story! Will read more cozy mysteries from her for sure.
This was a quick read enjoyable enough I don't find myself reaching for the next book. The 4 main characters are in varying stages of life and of interest is the historical info introduced as part of the mystery.
Not a fan of the Mercy Hospital books,,,this was better than the first one but not believable. Love that they are Christian based but stories just aren’t intriguing.
