Well now I will have to admit that this latest book in the series had me surprised especially with the twist and turns at the end and how it turned out. Looks like the Panthers are in better shape than they were before with their new king and ally on the throne. Will have to admit Pedro Urvi is a great author and his books are worth taking the time to read. I'll be looking forward to the next one in the series and have already pre-ordered it.

The war with Erenal is eminent taking away time, interest and belief in fighting the dragon Derga-Sho-Blaska. So, the Snow Leopards take it upon themselves to gather magical weapons and information to fight him. Each member of the team heads off on a mission to find one of dragon-killing weapons. Thus, they’re seven different quests going on spread-out all-over Tremia and Nocea.

The missions are intermingled, but this is the general order we read in the book. Egil: Golden Spear of Rogdon. Gerd: Gim’s Double Death. Nilsa: Antior’s Beam. Ingrid: Neil’s Dragon Killer. Astrid: Liriana Luna’s Gauntlet. Lasgol already has Aodh’s Bow, but he needs a magic container for the Silver Pearls. Viggo: Sansen’s Knives. All of the journeys are interesting and dangerous.

But Egil’s task is confusing. He tells the others that he’s going a personal family mission, but then he goes searching for the Golden Spear.

I scanned through a lot of the big battle, just looking mostly for what was happening with the Western League and the Snow Leopards. But I loved the surprise, wonderful twist at the end. Very leery about how it’s going to go in the next book.

Footnote: 1) It’s better for Viggo have the knives to kill the dragon, than for Haakon just have them sitting around to study.

2) Why can’t kingdoms (countries) just leave each other in peace? Unless there doing something horrendous to their people or something, just enjoy the trade of goods, knowledge and tourism. We’re all different which is a good thing. Keep greed for power and money out of normal people’s lives. I’m all for letting the leaders fight it out in a private arena. That’ll make them think twice about things.

Fave scenes: Egil visiting the old fisherman, Lasgol fighting the mage, the archery contest and Engil’s reaction to the Queen’s order.

The first 75% was pretty much as predictable as the sun rising in the east. Loads of fluff and wasted pages. Everyone has an ancient weapon they have to find, that have never been found before, and they all find the weapons without any major trouble. The last 25% ended a little less predictably. A massive battle between several countries in Northern Tremia consists of betrayal, more betrayal, and Egil finally reaching the throne in a way only he can with very little bloodshed.

I want to stop reading this series because the writing style is odious but I'll keep reading because I want to see what happens to the team, especially now that Egil is King and Lasgol is figuring out how to use his magic better.

I'm going to be honest. This book was a bore for most of the book. I give credit to the author for trying to make each Snow Panther side quest epic but it was really repetitive just different scenarios and i just had to skim a lot of it to get to the outcome everything was leading too. I think its fair to have guessed they would all get the important weapons. They did. The saving grace for this book was the ending battle and what occurred in that battle and what happened at the end. One Major plot is complete, and boy was it worth the wait. I was very happy with the ending. Now only leaves one threat left and then happy endings???????? Can't wait for book 19.

Getting beyond the editing issues, we have a good story. These stories are always like comimg back to old friends. That aspect did not disappoint. Some of the story could have been condensed, while other parts could have had more depth, but it is what it is. Read the series. The characters are all grown up now. We know who they are and they act within character.

Emocionante, inesperado y sorpresivo.

Book 18

Book 18 was a fun read and had a few errors. The plot and characters developed well. The plot has a few good twists and unexpected outcomes. The characters are interesting and are split in story telling, then merge together again. The storyline gets confusing towards the end, but resolves itself for the big reveal. I look forward to the next book.

🥺🥺🥺

Chaotic, but a good story.

A group of warrior women that are all experts with the bow, but most of them don't use the bow. That's the type of contradictory details that run rampant through the book and the series. As well as details being repeated multiple times as if they were new details. These books need better organization and a native English speaker to proofread them... The saving grace is the storyline is very good.

While I’m willing to recommend this book I must disclose to you that I’ve read all 20 in the series. The last book is an unmitigated disaster. The author was clearly tired of the work and just gave up. You can enjoy the journey if you want but trust me when I tell you that you will be utterly devastated. I can’t get over it. I’ll never read another one of his books again. You have been warned

Better with each book!

Id easily describe this book as one of the best in the series. There are many build ups with the Panthers on their missions and a very dramatic and great ending. With this books ending I am dying for the next one!

This book was better than some of the recent books in the series. Although most of it was predictable, a few twists and interesting things happened. I was also happy that the story was moved forward at least a little.

Excellent story to continue this series!

A large spectrum of interwoven tales that come together at the end to provide an epic conclusion to the book. So many hopes and betrayals leading to this finale. The finish is so clever and very satisfying!

OMG!

This book was loaded with intrigue and triumph. Finally, the great battle ensued, but the battle within the battle was what was so riveting. How this author comes up with these plots twists and turns is beyond me...he writes an absorbing book.

The Throne of the North

For the 18th book. this book was fantastic. The plots, twists, and turns had me on my toes. The Panthers had many missions and were able to complete the biggest coup of all time. A new king will be crowned.
