What’s worse than waking up from a hibernation cell fifty-two years after being abducted? Nothing. No, wait—a wise-cracking alien hunk with a killer smile who doesn’t let me out of his sight, that’s what.
Wulfrex knows every inch of his massive space cruiser and makes it impossible for me to steal it. When I try to “borrow” one of his shuttles to get home to Earth, I find myself outsmarted by him again and accidentally pulled into a mission with far-reaching implications I could never have foreseen.
The beautiful human female makes my fangs and, eh, other things, ache. I know more about power converters and fusion drives than females, and Dani doesn’t want to be anyone’s mate—especially mine. Worse, she’s an assassin, determined to get off our ship no matter what. Even if it means stealing aboard my shuttle as I embark on a dangerous rescue mission. She’s capable with a blaster and hoards her secrets, but I will claim her heart.
This is book 3 in the Craving the Heveians series. I write what I love to read, so there is always consent and a HEA. Enjoy!

🦸🏼♀️ Heroine Spotlight: Dani
Once a covert assassin navigating post-rift Earth, Dani operated in a world where alien contact had reshaped global dynamics—but not the tools of war. Her weapons were still gritty, analog, and lethal. Scarred by a lifetime of missions and near-death escapes, Dani’s final assignment went sideways when she eliminated her target but was caught by an unexpected witness: a scientist she hadn’t planned to kill. The woman’s shock triggered a blinding flash—and then, nothing. Dani’s memory fractured, her fate sealed in silence.

🦸🏻♂️ Hero Spotlight: Wulfrex
Wulfrex is a banished Heveian, part of a rogue crew of space pirates who hijacked a massive starship and now roam the galaxy with a patchwork crew of alien misfits. He’s the ship’s heartbeat—its mechanic, its keeper, its quiet strategist. When they rescue two human women from cryo-sleep, Dani awakens first, guarded and evasive. She claims not to know the other woman, who remains in stasis. Wulfrex, ever observant, senses more than she lets on. He knows every bolt and shadow of the ship—and now, he’s watching her.

🔥 Plot Snapshot
Dani wakes to a nightmare: fifty years lost in cryo-sleep aboard an alien vessel. She hasn’t aged, but the world she knew is gone. Haunted by her past and terrified of exposure, she lies about her connection to the other woman still sleeping. If that woman wakes and reveals Dani’s violent history, her fragile safety will shatter. Desperate to escape, Dani plots her exit—but her growing attraction to Wulfrex complicates everything. Trust is a luxury she can’t afford, and yet, it’s the one thing she craves.

❤️🔥 What Worked
• This installment outshines the last two—tighter pacing, stronger stakes, and a more emotionally grounded arc. • Dani’s evolution from guarded assassin to vulnerable ally is compelling. Her strength isn’t just physical—it’s in her slow surrender to connection. • The suspense on the mining planet adds grit and urgency, especially as the crew searches for their missing Heveian comrade.
---
🤨 Room for More
• Dani’s constant sneaking around the ship felt repetitive and illogical. Where exactly did she think she’d go? The galaxy isn’t forgiving to lone fugitives, especially ones without allies or currency. • Character backstories needed more depth. Dani’s trauma and Wulfrex’s exile are rich with potential, but we only skim the surface. A few flashbacks or emotional reveals could’ve added weight.
---
🎧 Narration Vibes
Dual POV narration by Dani California and Eric MacArthur.
• Dani California’s voice is deeper than expected for a female lead, but her delivery is grounded and emotionally authentic. • Eric MacArthur’s tone felt mismatched for Wulfrex—too mature, not quite alien enough. His female voices lacked nuance, which broke immersion. • A duet-style narration would’ve elevated the emotional tension and made character interactions more dynamic.

📝 Final Thoughts
A solid entry with a compelling heroine, a morally gray love interest, and a backdrop of cosmic exile. Dani’s journey from assassin to reluctant ally is emotionally satisfying, even if some plot mechanics wobble. With stronger character development and duet narration, this could’ve been stellar—but as it stands, it’s a worthy listen with sparks of brilliance.
Of course it was!! Any organization that calls them selves the United Coalition for Peace is evil. It’s like a man calling himself a “good guy.” Any time someone has to announce how good they are, red flag.
Even though Dani bothered me so much more than the other perfect girls I’m still enjoying this basic series. Wulfrex, or Wulf, surprised me the most so far. Honestly, Wulf rocked!
I’m very glad I continued this basic series too because the new tortured alien dude is so interesting and I need more of him!
Assassin FMC who has been in a deep sleep for the last 52 years. When she awoke aboard a ship with Hevian aliens and human rescues, she is immediately on guard due to the last thing she did before being put into a deep sleep. Wulf is the smart but flirty and easy going alien male who knew the moment he met the sassy and stubborn assassin female that she was his mate.
I enjoyed this story but the FMC was a little frustrating in the beginning but it worked out well in the story. I’m going to continue the series because I need to know how it ends.
This is turning into a really interesting, action packed series. Each story carries on the underlying storyline, so it’s best to start at the start - with the prince Gravox’s story, which lays the foundations for each story to follow
This was better than book 2, which I didn’t bother reviewing. Once again a short and sweet alien romance with an HEA. We learned a lot more about the world (in a natural way) during this one, and I felt like Ella Blake did a great job setting up for the future books. Loved the FMC in this one because she was a badass assassin, and who doesn’t enjoy those? Anyway, a low angst read for those that enjoy this genre.
I wish that the stories were longer. That's my only complaint. The writing is well done. No spelling or grammar mistakes that I can see. There's plenty of adventure and romance.
Spending over fifty years in cryogenic sleep has thrust Dani into the future; and she’s not even on Earth any more! She’s a little leery of the Heveians who have supposedly rescued her, especially the attractive and annoying Wulfrex- who is infuriatingly difficult to avoid…
I was leery about the idea of Dani originally. I wasn’t sure I’d like her very much, or enjoy her tale, but she proved me wrong! Dani has a checquered past, one in which she was an assassin, though perhaps not quite the way you might initially think. It’s given her some unusual skills, which prove to be quite useful, and a suspicious nature- which proves to be a hindrance. Fortunately, the affable Wulfrex is her love interest, and he’s as sharp as they come! To be honest, while Dani starts out rather annoying, Wulfrex keeps the reader interested and engaged. He’s a very likeable character, with a love for life, and a habit of seizing the moment- he’s definitely the star of this book (and that is despite Hoc making a few appearances!)
This is the third book in the series, and fourth story, and you need to have read the others first: because the back story on the ladies is important, as is the story behind these former pirates. It’s not a hardship though, the books are quick, sexy reads, with fun characters and an intriguing premise- the overarching background story will pull you in and keep you guessing. A worthy read for the sci-fi romance enthusiast, and for fans of the author.
Potentially offensive items: alien-human sex, nudity, adult situations, premarital sex, homosexuality, sexually explicit, offensive language/ swearing, alcohol, violence, violence against women, murder (main character was an assassin-so condoned murder, I guess), lying
Dani assassinates a scientist in front of her partner, Claire, and wakes up 52 years later in an alien ship with Claire unconscious next to her and the hot Heveian alien Wulfrex leaning over her. Her goal is primarily to escape, but Wulfrex keeps foiling her plans.
This is along the steamy-spicy lines of romance novels. I like the backstory of Dani, and that she is an assassin along the lines of La Femme Nikita. The sex scene in the middle of the book was off, though, because I think they both would have either alerted guards to where they were or been more concerned about their friends. Aside from that, the story was pretty solid.
This is book 3 in the Craving The Heveian series. The Alien's Blade is Dani and Wulfrex' story. And what a great story it is! In the beginning I wasn't sure I was going to like Dani, assassins really aren't my thing but I found myself loving her. And Wulfrex has been a favorite from the first book. There is so much action in this story! So much plot! The characters are amazing! The world building is impeccable. I honestly can't wait for Jorok and Kiki's book. I've wanted the doc to have someone from the first. I am rooting for Axlos and Arria too. Who am I kidding I can't wait for all of the books..They're that good! Each is better than the last. Ella Blake is an amazing author with the power to take you to her world and keep you there from the first word to the last.
I'm convinced that there are almost no authors who can do MFCs who are assassins/thieves/spies/etc well.
they almost always decide to go the route of making the MFC unwilling/regretful and/or incompetent whenever the MMC is present. the MFC never gets one over on the MMC, can always handle things without any issues when she's by herself but trips over everything + takes naps constantly even during dangerous situations (and the MMC is always seriously injured but for some reason our girl has to sleep for a lil bit), etc if the MMC is there. it's just annoying. I think I trust 2 authors to write these characters w/o falling into that trap and it's a bummer.
I love a sci-fi romance with a strong female lead. And Dani is definitely that. Imagine waking up and finding an alien standing over you and that it’s been over 50 years since you were awake. Oh, and Dani has a huge secret that could cause her some deadly trouble. But then there is Wulfrex. This male is all cinnamon roll with a side of smart a$$. And don’t forget he is an alien.
The author has written a wonderful story filled with characters that are very easy to love. The crew is amazing. The series has some depth too as we get to understand the evil that is lurking in space. She also writes in some heat with this great romance.
The author did a wonderful job on this one. It had me intrigue at the end of the story. It's not a cliffhanger but I am definitely looking forward to what happens next. It's going to be big.
Back to the story. I did not like the FMC at first. It seems like she was hiding a big dark deep secret. She was but it was not that bad like we were made to believe. I liked her when I get to know her and began to understand her reason. Our MMC, it's easy to like our big alien, he was charming even though he is a bit overconfident.
Loved the pairing of the main characters. Especially Dani and her unusual way of thinking and logic and instinct driven decisions. Want to see more of the ship mates and definitely want to see more of other species from other book. Would recommend a second series were they and other allies go to help defeat earth's unknown enemy. One note, wish author had written the other survivors being taken on board ship. They could have helped them or dropped them off at places on way back to their planet.
This series is really good. It has a 4 great stories that are so different, but still very exciting. They showcase the very different strengths of each of the female main characters. Each female is thoughtful and resourceful in spite of their differing backgrounds. Their actions made sense and were perfectly in character, not the women can do anything, over used story line. They were easily read over 2-3 days of waiting for kids lessons. And the steam, though. Ms. Blake is one of my favorite authors.
This book was amazing! Dani and Wulfrex were perfect for each other. They complimented each other in every way and it is always awesome to see characters being able to rescue and save each other when everything blows up. The background plot is moving along nicely and this book had some great twists and secrets. The banter was amazing, the spice was delicious and it's always fun to see the heveians hang out together. Such a great read. Can't wait for the next one.
Reading the first chapter, I thought to myself (jaded and over-read as I am) that this was going to be formulaic and just kind of “meh”. Um, nope. I got this as a recommend from another author I like and I can see why. So good. Surprises every couple of chapters, and you just gotta love Dani and Wilfred. So yeah, I recommend it for a good time.
Dani and Wulf were perfection together! I loved everything about this book. From Dani's past to Wulf's big ego, everything about this book just flowed so well! I loved that we got to see Dani in action and that we got to see how her mind works. Wulf was such a big teddy bear too and loved that he was always a step ahead of Dani. Overall, this was a great read, 4.5 stars in rating.
This is the third in the series, Wulfrux and Dani's story. The only issue that I had with this was IMO they should have been looking for the others instead of playing around in a cart. Other than that, the world building and character building was great, the story was good and I really liked the humor. I'm definitely going to read the next in the series.
This is a story about a woman who wakes up and finds out she has been is a cryogenic state for 52 yrs. She is not happy, but feels like she needs to get away before anyone finds out she was an assassin. She is struggling with what is the right thing to do. While trying to get away, she finds out her training can help. Well worth reading.
The engineer (alien Wulf) and the assassin (human Dani) are the good/bada$$ stars of this enemies-to-lovers romance. And that ain't all, folks. There's some fierce action (of the ZAP, BLAM variety) and some absolutely Smokin' Hot action (of the up-close-and-personal variety). So much action this book will leave you breathless.
Excellent sci-fi romance!! I loved it! Full of action and danger, steam and secrets. Dani and Wulfrex are a super couple.. Dani is a tough woman with a conscience, and wants to leave her past behind. Wulfrex wants to keep her in his life... if she'll give him a chance..
The Alien’s Blade is an exciting read of an alien ship’s engineer and a human assassin kept in a cyropod for fifty-two years. Action, heat, and adventure! Can’t wait for the next book in the series!
I loved it! I could just keep repeating it! The plot was intriguing and deepened the overall plot of the series. The characters were evolved and relatable. Highly recommend. Worth the read.
Ive always loved Wulfrex. His attitude, confidence, cockiness all make for a very special character. Dani was the perfect choice for him. The over arcing storyline is great and looks to be heating up. I am so ready for the next chapter!!!
I'm enjoying this series. I liked the characters and story but it felt rushed, seems the author wanted to get to the sex part and left what could have been more meat of the story out. Still a good read.
I’ve read this series from book one, and it’s always an exciting read, the bigger series arc is slowly coming together, but it’s the characters like Dani that carry this into five star reads, she’s so unbelievably strong and feisty. I love that.
This series is turning out to be absolutely fantastic 😃. Everything is intense, from action to insane bad people and wonderful characters that make reading this worth the time 😉. Thanks again Ella, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next 🤓.
Wulfrex and Dani made a crazy match together. His dry humor and her sarcastic remarks to each other were hilarious. The action, intrigue, drama, and tension were exciting. I can’t wait to read more of this series.
