The Escort #3

The Union

Rate this book
In a matter of one bogus lawsuit I went from “America’s Sweetheart” to “the embattled former TV host who hired an escort and lost her dream job.” The scandal cost me everything–my job, my relationship with my daughter, and Jagger Holiday. Worse, the network demands we do a tell-all interview on live TV. I refuse—Jagger thinks I’m better off without him, and I won’t allow his past as an escort to be destroyed for the sake of ratings. I’m shocked when Jagger goes, and I can’t breathe while I watch. How my sexy, tortured artist talks about me? It makes me fall in love with him all over again. I cannot lose this gorgeous, caring man who turns everything he touches into art. I’m ready to completely start over. I move to Miami and we start building something completely unique and totally us. Everything should be perfect. But something is off. He’s keeping something from me. Then the little plus on the stick throws our world into disarray. A baby. I’m excited and terrified to tell Jagger. He wants a child with me—wants to marry me—but he’s scared, too. Especially when I discover the secret that’s been torturing him for years. Now I might lose everything...this time, for good. This is the conclusion of The Escort Trilogy.

Finding What They Need . . .

Leah Godfrey and Jagger Holiday met when she hired an escort to a class reunion. When everything blew up with the help of mean, vindictive enemies, Leah lost everything: her job, the relationship with her daughter, and the man she had fallen in love with… Jagger. Subsequent lawsuits were threatened and used as a means to get the “inside dirt” as the network demands they give a tell-all interview on live TV. Although Leah refuses, Jagger agrees so that he can perhaps shed a little truth on the twisted lies going around.

Leah moves to Miami to be with Jagger and begin her interior design business. She finally finds a way to let go of the past and face a new life full of possibilities with the man she loves. And Jagger also finds a way to put his past behind him and accept the love Leah is offering him. But there is still a secret Jagger needs to talk about. Will keeping it hold them back from their happiness? Or can they heal each other and move forward with their new life and family?

I really enjoyed this series. There were so many emotions involved, so man horrible enemies who thought nothing of ruining the couple, and their strong love that kept them going and let them put the painful past behind them. This is a series worth reading.

Well, after investing a good many hours in this series, thinking it was finally getting to a real, adult, romantic resolution, I got a big, fat NO. Sorry for the spoiler, but Book 3 of this overly long, repetitive series is a surprise pregnancy. Yes, indeed. The surprise pregnancy trope, the lazy call-out that writers use when they get tired, backed into a writing corner, pressure to finish up, or quickly try to hit another demographic.

This is such a disappointment. Instead of a real romance, where adults work to create their relationship, a baby gets tossed onto the mix like it's just a device for consumption. If I had one wish, I would make female writers stop using this terrible trope. It just reaffirms that women have two functions--sex object, or baby vessel. Could there be anything more patriarchal than that? And of course, that means the true evolution of two people figuring out their love just stops, because now it's just about the baby.

In another review, I said it should be a law that all tropes be displayed directly under the book title in all platforms. That would give readers the option to skip it. This book really reinforces that.

The fantastic conclusion to the trilogy. Wonderfully written characters, and a storyline that kept me hooked. Would recommend.

I really liked this wrap-up for the series and am happy with how the author tied things up. I'm definitely interested in reading the spin-off series!!
