Seventeen-year-old Kole Danvers is plunged into the world of PAAC—the Pacific Acting Authority Council. He must navigate grueling training sessions and rescue missions as he steps into the role of second-in-command in an active unit of five soldiers designed to neutralize threats. Kole must conform and do what is asked of him—failing to do so will result in the members of his unit being cut from the program and left with nowhere to go. But, as he builds new relationships, challenges himself, and navigates the world from inside the PAAC compound, he realizes that there are questions left unanswered. When he begins to receive flashes of his previous life, he realizes that within the white walls of the compound, there is a darkness and not everything is as it seems.

“I have more dreams than flashbacks,” Myrka says. “How long have you guys had them?” I furrow my brow. “Only a few months, maybe. Not very long.” “And you’re always really young in the memories? Like … I don’t know, five, maybe?” “If I had to guess,” Myrka says, keeping her voice low. I bite the inside of my cheek, chewing on thought. I look around, anxiously. “What?” Peter shrugs at me. “I don’t think we should tell anyone else about this.” I lower my voice to just barely a whisper. “I had the same feeling,” Myrka agrees. “What? Why?” Peter demands. “You don’t understand the amount of cred we could get for something like this! Being the only kids with memories inside of PAAC? We’d be freaking legends!” I shake my head. “Peter, listen to me. After the exam results, Ryker was talking to Fallon and they brought me in for questioning. They asked me—“ “If you felt strange or out of place?” Myrka asks the floor. I nod at her, wide eyed. “Yeah. They asked me that, too.” “I think they’re looking for kids like us,” I hiss. “Who?” Peter snorts. “Fallon? Dude wouldn’t hurt a fly.” “Not him. Ryker.”
