SPOILERS
After the death of his parents, Kyr 24, inherited the Greek island of Teleios with it's massive tourist resort.
Unfortunately he also inherited the resort's significant debt and was working tirelessly to turn things around. He was the master of the island and everyone liked and respected him.
He was described as having the looks of a Greek God.

He was in love and in a relationship with his long time girlfriend, Ana. Their first times had been each other in Ana's bedroom when they both were 15. They were together for 9 years.
When Ana upped and left the island to pursue her dreams, Kyr was so hurt that his heart (as he put it) had been destroyed.

Four years went by.
Kyr succeeded in his business and was now a multi Billionaire.
He would have relationships but his heart wasn't there.

Eighteen year old Polly just finished High School in America and was visiting her Godparents on the island of Teleios that summer. A holiday before attending college in the fall.
Polly's Godparents were Ana's parents.
Polly was given Ana's former bedroom to sleep.
She was a pretty, down to earth, naive and impressionable girl.

She met Kyr and was in awe of him. He was instantly physically attracted to her but he was also attracted to her personality and innocence.
He had found himself spending all his free time with her platonically. He wanted to get to know her.
Some time passed and as he knew she was special and did not want to cause her hurt, he tried to end it but at the end they decided to take it day by day.

Some weeks later Ana's mother received a letter from her daughter saying that she was going to get married. Ana became an A list Hollywood actress.
Polly never knew about Kyr's and Ana's former relationship.
Ana's marriage was a big blow to Kyr.
He knew then that he had held himself back from Polly because he hadn't wanted her hurt if Ana came back to him.
He had been waiting for Ana to return and a part of him had been ready to take her back.
But now he knew that wasn't going to happen.

That night Kyr and Polly had sex for the first time in her bedroom. Kyr felt quilt afterwards. He had just used an innocent 18 year old to drive away his demons.

Polly was the most receptive girl, never saying no to him. She was looking at him with stars in her eyes. Every night he would climb into her room. She would welcome him with words of love even though he would never say them back but Polly didn't mind, she knew he loved her.
He was not in love with her, couldn't ever because of the past.

One day he found her packing and he did the only thing he could do to survive, he asked her to marry him.
No one had succeeded in making him feel alive the way she did and he thought he would in return make her the happiest girl on earth so she would never realize he didn't love her.
He knew she was too young, too innocent, too kind for someone like him but he could not let her go.
Polly objected, she wanted to attend college, to fulfil her dreams but Kyr used every trick in the book to seduce her into what he wanted.

Two months after meeting, they got married. They had twins the first year of their marriage and were in awe. They were very happy.
Every time Polly would bring up her desire to study he would find an excuse to stop her.
He had abandonment issues brought up by Ana's desertion.
He was though very good to Polly. Kind, tender, loving, passionate and possessive.

A few years went by and Kyr heard of Ana's upcoming divorce. From that day on Kyr had distance himself from his wife.
He could not help himself entertain different scenarios of seeing Ana again. He wanted to contact her but even if he only wanted to talk to his ex he knew that Polly would not understand and so a part of him started to resent her for it and started to hate the shackles of marriage.

People informed him of his wife's sadness and quiet tears and advised him to tell her the truth about his past before she found out any other way.
Several months went by and Polly might not have known why her husband had changed but she had noticed that he had changed. Something was wrong and she was devastated.

In the end Kyr, fearing he might lose her, he made up with her. That night baby number 3 was conceived followed by baby number 4.
Polly had been organising parties for some time now and was very good at it.

Eight years had passed since their wedding. That night they were to celebrate their 8th wedding anniversary and the whole island was invited to the party.

Some time before the party was due to commence, Kyr was at the resort when suddenly Ana was standing at the other end of the hall, expensively dressed, looking confident and exotically beautiful.
She said she wanted to talk. Apparently he've been ignoring her calls lately. He responded coldly that he was married and his wife knows nothing of their past history.

Ana approach him and this close everything in the past came hurtling back, nostalgia, hatred and love. Ana, his Ana the only girl he had ever loved and she was back. All his dreams from boyhood could they be his again? Could he make them come true?
Ana curling her arms around his neck said she was sorry for leaving him and begged him to take her back and they could have everything back again.
Her lips touched him and that's when Kyr heard his wife's voice.

He heard her moan of pain, he saw her paled face, the unstable sway of her body and terror paralysed him. What the hell had he done?
Polly had run away and when he've found her she was among her children crying. She looked at him with no stars in her eyes and asked him to leave.

In his mind he saw the years they were together. Years that she had devoted herself selflessly to him, that had been happy and beautiful because she had been there every day loving him and loving their children.
Now that it was too late, he realised how he had lost everything because of one mistake of thinking arrogantly that his life would be better if he took Ana back.

He knew now that all those years he had wanted Ana back as much as he wanted revenge because he had not been used to failing and in his entire life Ana had been his only failure.
A moment of pride and he had thrown away everything that meant the most to him. He loved Polly.

In the aftermath, Polly knowing that her marriage was a lie, moved with their children to Athens.
Kyr would visit the weekends and stay on his boat.
Polly started her own event planning firm and was busy working and raising her children.
The last 30% of the book was all about Kyr grovelling. He would do anything to tell and show her how much she meant to him, how much he loved her.
There was a confrontation with Ana who did not give up easily in trying to get him back but Kyr was not interested. In the end she blackmouth them to the press.

After two years apart the couple reunited in a most emotional and beautiful way which included their children and a crowd of audiences.

I'm glad I waited until this book was on KU and didn't pay money for it.

It wasn't "one goddamn moment of pride" or "one goddamn mistake" that had Kyr throwing his marriage away. As soon as he heard that Ana had gotten a divorce, he started fantasizing about ways he could get back in contact with her. He even admitted to himself that he was starting to resent his wife for standing in his way and that he was beginning to "hate the shackles of marriage". He still thought of Ana as "his Ana" and "the only girl he had ever loved".

The author wrote the book like Pollyanna was only upset because she caught Kyr kissing another woman. What about the fact that he lied to her for the entire length of their marriage? What about the fact that he allowed her to believe that he loved her when he didn’t? When, in fact, he was in love with another woman for that whole time? What about her humiliation when she realized that everyone on the island knew about his relationship with Ana except for her? What about the fact that he literally RAPED her without using any birth control and got her pregnant so that she couldn’t get a job??? 🤬🤬🤬

Veeeeery emotional and angsty reading with an asshole hero who’s a mix of a harlequin hero and a modern beta.
He’s a Greek billionaire, sexy and hot and good in bed. But this is it.
He’s been dumped by his gf of 9 years and wouldn’t move on. Yes he has women but is still waiting for her to come back.
When he meets the heroine he toys with her for some time but he doesn’t want to keep her. Then he finds out ow has married and has sex with the heroine for some weeks, then proposes and keeps her pregnant for seven years. Because he suffers from abandonment issues.
He basically has ow in mind whenever he has to make some fundamental decisions with his wife, and when ow divorces he’s angry with his wife because he’s not free for ow.
Don’t misunderstand me, he’s good to his wife and the sex is great and he loves his family but ow is always there in the shadow.
When ow comes back he lets her kiss him and for one moment he dreams of a life with her. Just for one moment. Because the heroine sees him and then it all comes out. She leaves him. He suddenly wakes up and understands the mess he made of his marriage for someone he doesn’t even care anymore.
Because after all it was only a desire for retribution that kept him linked to ow, he was hurt in his pride more than his heart but couldn’t understand it until it was too late.
The last part is the hero crawling and groveling in every way he can and making every kind of efforts to win his wife back.
It was ok, very emotional, very angsty, the heroine is a typical hp old school naive virgin who falls for the older and more experienced man, a man who never tells her ily, but she thinks he does anyway and when after 8 years realizes she was always a placeholder for another woman, his true love.
It was painful but the heroine did the right thing and left him for months. She didn’t give in at once. She grew a backbone.
And the hero was a pathetic fool, because that’s what you are if you wait for a woman that dumped you because she wanted a career and money and even married another man, when you have a wife that adores you and worship you like a god at the altar. Pathetic dumb fool.
He deserved to be dumped and scorned.
Of course he realizes his mistake and that he has loved the heroine since the beginning but actually his idiocy is remarkable for a man his age. No respect for beta men who pine for women that treat them awfully. Have you no pride?

Opinion Breakdown
The Good: The premise, the drama, and the kids.

The Not-So-Good: The h for the first half of the book.

The Bad: The ending scene. Not sexy. At all. 😬

Overall: This was enjoyable for what it was. It definitely had The Unwanted Wife vibes, which I wasn't mad about! The h was super annoying at first in her innocence, but luckily she seemed to have matured through the story. It did tap into my emotions, but not nearly enough, and the ending was so icky to me that it brought my overall opinion down too.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Pollyanna and Kyr's story. Kyr was a grumpy man because he left by his first love while he was struggling with his parents death and the debt they left him in with his Greek island, so when he meets sunshine and innocence Pollyanna, he didn't know what hit him. He is drawn to her adoration of him and they end up in a whirlwind romance that results in marriage and 4 children. When his ex shows up and Pollyanna finally learns the truth, everything he didn't know he wanted was in jeopardy. There are some sweet moments, some OP drama, some sexy times...and they get a HEA ending.

Point Of View (POV): This alternated between focusing on Pollyanna and Kyr in 3rd person narrative.

Overall Pace of Story: Alright. I guess this was a series of a few short books that were put together to make one. It didn't feel necessarily disjointed but I could recognize the climatic rise and falls with those books, because it was kind of a rollercoaster.

Instalove: Yes for the h, No for the H.

H (Hero) rating: 3.5 stars. Kyr. Of course he's an idiot for not recognizing his own feelings most of the time, but I probably liked him more than the h.

h (heroine) rating: 3 stars. Pollyanna. She was super sweet and innocent, like her name. She was almost going to have me quit the book at the beginning because she was crying all the time, but after time I guess she matured and was better.

Sadness level: Low/moderate. I shed some tears but never needed any tissues.

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: Yes

Cheating: Yes

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This ends in an alright place but I honestly thought the last scene was cringey and I skimmed . I would call it a HEA ending.

Safety: This one is probably Not Safe for most safety gang readers

His wife deserved the fucking moon and stars, and here he was, unable to give her his entire heart.
This really hit the spot😍 . . . and kept me from falling into a full-blown slump.

Yes, it had a few stereotypes and cliches, and it was pretty improbable, but I totally enjoyed it. The old-school drama and angst made for the perfect escapist read. I think my favorite part overall was the heroine's tongue-in-cheek name: Pollyanna.😂

Warning: this book contains cheating. If this type of content offends you, you'll want to avoid this one.

A Greek billionaire marry's a sweet girl that loves him and they are married for 8 years, have three kids, a great sex life and she finds out he married her for revenge on the girl that left him. It was all a lie supposedly but I think he loved her and just didn't know it. She finds out about his first love and she is gobsmacked. She never knew. And now she's divorced and back for him. On the night of their 8th wedding anniversary she catches him kissing the ex. Well she kissed him but his lips lingered. But then he saw his wife's face and he felt awful. I felt her pain just reading the book. It made me cry even. So awful! From that moment on he groveled, groveled, groveled and more groveled. I did believe his love then. She took quite a bit longer to be convinced. It kind of was annoying but I get it. She was so hurt. I felt so bad for her. And a little for him too because he really was sorry. It has a good ending and I went through the wringer on this one. Glad they figured it out. It was words of wisdom from their children that sealed the deal though. They said tell dad to say he's sorry so he can come back home. It was quite touching.

The only personality the FMC had was being stupid, crying every goddamn page, and asking “Why?” Repeatedly as if that is her only fuckin vocabulary.

Of course I hated the MMC, he is an ass and he deserved to jump off a cliff but I equally hated how spineless and pathetic the FMC was.

Another book. Another author romanticizing cheating pigs and making them be forgiven after delivering the most blandest apology speech and weaponizing their children to forgive such man. So romantic! 🥺😮‍💨

“What do you say when you hurt someone you love?”

Despite not being interested in the first 30ish% of the book—at all—I looooved the rest. I can’t help myself; I’m putting aside the initial issues I had with this book and rating it 4 Stars. The angst was, for lack of a better word—awesome. It was emotional and drew me in. Like a moth to a fucking flame.

The hero’s grovel was completely satisfying. And the heroine stood her ground for a good chunk of the book. Bravo, Pollyanna 👏🏼 That’s her actual name, not just her personality. But in spite of her living up to her name, she made me proud. She didn’t forgive him easily. I really liked her, honestly.

He was an alpha for most of the book (❤️) but turned beta towards the end. It didn’t bother me, surprisingly. It was part of his redemption arc. Btw, I forgive him for continuously describing her as a blowfish. 🥴 My dude, no. Somehow it grew on me, tho. The things I’m willing to overlook for the sake of angst and grovel. Desperate times.

✔️ The sexy scenes were great.
✔️ I loved all their babies and their HEA.
I will definitely read this again. Maybe next time I’ll have more patience and find the first part engaging.

Cheating: Mostly emotional. Later, there’s a little kiss but that’s all. He immediately regretted it.

I’m grateful for my friends’ reviews. I don’t think I would have read this without their input. A Facebook post recommending this book also influenced my decision.

“What do you say when you hurt someone you love?”

“Zoji.”

😭❤️ I loved this scene.

I don’t know if this is a harlequin book but it definitely had classic harlequin vibes. Yes the MMC cheated emotionally, mentally, and to a small extent physically but even while doing that for years(!), he was still in love and devoted to the FMC. It was an entire book of watching the MMC fall in love but not acknowledging it. It was an entire book of seeing the MMC be stupid while still doing the right things for the FMC. Yes he had a few lapses over the years, and yes he was mentally if not physically unfaithful to the FMC. He literally had the OW on his mind in nearly every aspect of his relationship with the FMC, but he was still one hundred percent devoted to the FMC and the family she created with him. It was absolutely weirdly faithful.

I wasn’t a fan of the writing style. It was so random with the thoughts and filler of other people or places in the book that really weren’t necessary. I mean the book started with the thoughts of a waiter and a random gold digger that never were seen in the book again.

I also didn’t like how the main couple ended up back together. They both didn’t work on the unfaithfulness together or even apart really. They both wanted to ignore it and white wash it back to how the FMC originally perceived everything. They also forgave on the premise of, “if you love it, then let it go”. Which doesn’t work here or really anywhere unless they stay gone and you still end up happy despite the sad choice. Smh. I would have liked it better had they had more bitter fights and counseling and went through the mud together instead of this insipid forgive and forget that the author gave the main couple.

I absolutely loved the epilogue though. That was hot! I would have liked for there to have been another pregnancy though. It was in line with how this couple would have worked. Another baby to seal their happiness. Oh well.

I liked this story. I probably won’t read it again though as I felt unsatisfied with how the author had them resolve their situation. I might give this author another shot though. Good luck.

"It would have been perfect, she thought numbly, if this had happened years ago.

But now, it felt like a little too late."

I haven't read many marriage-in-crisis books- but I absolutely loved this. We saw these characters (mainly the heroine) grow up, and were taken on a journey. This by no means was a perfect book, but I really really liked it.

I went through it all when reading this, it was so entertaining. I hated the H but I liked him too- I found the h endearing, but I wanted her to stand up for herself so badly. Their relationship was so seemingly sweet but so fundamentally messed up at the same time. It's books like these that really make me love reading.

Like I love a good simple novella with an age gap and characters being whisked away- but you never really see it flesh out like this: in this book, we got to see the story of a young naive 18-year-old girl who fell in love with a billionaire, and married him after just 2 months of knowing him- and we saw her let go of herself because of that love.

We got to see secrets being revealed that unraveled a marriage- the h realizing she gave up her dreams to become a young mother, and her determination to protect the kids that she loves so much despite it all. We got to see a husband groveling, and just so much more packed into one story.

I respect the heroine so much- the situation that she was put in was just crazy: she just felt so real. Both the romance and characterization in this one were just so fleshed out- it was my kind of drama.

I felt very similarly to the way that I felt when reading 'Return to Monte Carlo.'

I don't really know what else to say 😭 Polly and Kyr were both really compelling characters- love them or hate them, their relationship was still really entertaining. I just really enjoyed this book: It was a story.

I’m not sure why I thought that this story would be good! I mean the summary itself says that the FMC came to to conclusion that her marriage was a lie, and booooy was it a lie!

I have to start of by saying that I absolutely hated the MMC. He was plain awful!!! He got burned by his ex who left him for an acting career. I can buy that someone is hurt by that, but his actions can’t simply be justified by that! He later on meets an 18 y/o girl who turns out to be his exes parents god daughter. He starts dating her and marries her when he finds out that his ex moved on and is getting married. Fast forward eight years and four children, his wife has basically put the MMCs needs first before her own. She never went through with college because she got married, and every time she approached the subject her husband would stall her. When the FMC approaches her husband and tells him that she wanna start working with party planing, her husband flips out and basically calls her worthless. When she gets pissed off by that he rips her clothes off and forces himself on her even though she keeps saying no, and that ladies and gentlemen is how their fourth child is conceived.

The second the MMC finds out that his ex is getting a divorce he actually entertain the idea of getting back together with her. And every time he thinks about her makes him hate his wife, which is so f***ed up considering she gave up everything to be with her, and now she can’t even find a job, cause who will hire a girl with only a high school diploma? Anyway, the ex shows up, and here’s where shit goes to hell and the story goes from bad till awful, and the MMC let’s her kiss him. The FMC walks in on them and is absolutely heartbroken and runs away with their children. And that’s when the motherf**ker realizes that he is in love with his wife and doesn’t give a flying f**k about his ex. It took him EIGHT YEARS to understand that his wife was his everything! Like that the actual f**k!!!

I was expecting that something like this would happen but I wished for a twist. Anything! I knew that the truth would find its way out but not like this. Not like he and his ex kissing each other! But then, the MMC was plain awful, so I shouldn’t have held my breath!

The only thing about this book was the FMC, cause she made the MMC go through hell. She didn’t forgive him that easily and that made me so happy, cause I feel like authors are so quick with letting the FMC forgiving the MMC every time he f**ks up! I actually wished that she never would, but the story had to have a HEA, sooo…

Anyway, 2/5 stars from me, cause I loved how the FMC found herself and grew up and put herself first after all the chaos. But the story itself was really meeeeeeh and I wanted to kill the MMC cause he was a shitty person, probably a narcissist too!

***TRIGGER/CONTENT WARNING: On-page non-con scene between the Hero and heroine 6-7 years into their marriage. She says no several times but he does it anyway despite her fighting him. Then her body "betrays" her and he takes that as a positive go-ahead. She's visibly upset and crying afterward and all he says is sorry and then it's forgotten about. ***

**Safety: The beginning of the book has an on-page sex scene between Hero and OW ~4 years earlier (before the heroine is introduced). Cheating is when the OW initiates a kiss with the Hero on the night of the MCs' 8-year anniversary party and the heroine sees it happen. The Hero allows the kiss to happen because of "pride" or something, but once the heroine interrupts the moment, he realizes his "mistake". During their separation, the heroine hangs out with another guy and lets him flirt with her; that whole thing was sort of understandable, but overall it just added to the mess.

This took a long time to set up before the betrayal happens, which was good because it established them as a couple, but it was also bad because the grovel/redemption seemed squished into a limited amount of pages. And the fact that the Hero refused to say "I love you" to her for 8 YEARS and only started saying it after the betrayal made me just want to strangle him. Too late, bud. Though the heroine was also frustrating in that area by just accepting that he was just like that as a guy and convincing herself that he showed his love and didn't have to say the words.

Overall, this was entertaining and kept my attention, but it was very unsatisfying. I didn't buy the Hero's love for the heroine (especially because of the non-con scene), the heroine...I don't even know what to say about her, and there wasn't any comeuppance or true closure for the OW situation. And I'm sorry, but that reconciliation at the end was kind of dumb; I think I can understand using the pure "logic" of a child to get the heroine to understand or truly forgive the Hero, but it just felt SO messy and forced.

*Sidenote: Maybe I'm turning into a grandpa before I even hit 30, but I feel like giving your 7-year-old kids their own cell phones is extremely early. Do parents actually do that now, or is this just a rich person thing? Seriously, if anyone has the answer, this grandpa is very curious while still clutching his pearls. (FYI, I feel more like a grouchy grandpa than a grandma.)

I actually loved this cause it kept me hooked up until the end! It’s a story about Kyr and Polly

Kyr was inlove with his childhood sweatheart and thought he would never love again after she leaves him.

In comes polly and she makes him feel A LOT but he’s resigned to the idea he would never love again. Regardless, he asks her to marry him and they spend 8 years happy and her so madly inlove never knowing about the childhood sweatheart.

He’s obsessive possessive but thinks he can never love again and that he doesn’t LOVE polly. Which he totally does

In comes his ex again and he sees her and BOOM his wife sees her kiss them.

Polly leaves distraught, finds out everything and Kyr realises what he’s lost.

The grovel was great. I loved when she was actually mean to him cause he deserved it

I was very confused about the epilogue and that public sex scene. It felt so left wing given they’re respectable people in society and then doing it in front of kids maybe ???

I don’t mind public sex in stories but felt forced for some smut maybe

Triggers: kiss cheating (H with ex) and dubcon sex although they both did it to each

“You won’t want to be with me again,” his wife said darkly beside him. Bending down, he brushed his lips against hers, saying, “See if you can keep me from your side.”

As you might've guessed, this book is filled with angst and grovelling. Kyrillos had a lot to make up for because he not only held back his wife from achieving her dreams but also swindled her into thinking their marriage was based on love. At first, I hated him and his manipulative ways but his character development was immaculate. Pollyanna was young and naive but she grew into a very strong and capable woman and I was glad that she made him work to win her back. Overall, this book was an emotional and angsty read, if you are up to read a book with marriage in crisis and severe grovelling, this book is for you!

Pedo-lite

Her name is literally Pollyanna

He’s obsessed with his ex all 8 years of their marriage plus 4 kids. Controlling and keeps getting her pregnant when she expresses an interest in school/working so she won’t leave him like his ex. Pathetic.

Kisses ex when she comes back which sets off a two year separation and lots of grovelling. And ofc H then realizes he’s been in love with his doormat wife all along and just needed to kiss evil ex to realize it 🙄

I’ve never read this author before but I occasionally get into Harlequin kicks and this one caught my eye. I know this isn’t specifically a harlequin but it’s it’s very Harlequin-esque. I wasn’t really into the style at first and I’m no stranger to third person POV as a Harlequin reader. It just felt stilted in the beginning.

The story is a bit too slow paced in the beginning and I struggled to stay engaged. Then the third act breakup was too drawn out for my taste here. Honestly, I hate third act breakups. I thought this would be more grovel centered. The man does grovel but it’s just kind of subtle and underwhelming. There is an HEA.

Not a particularly safe read. In the beginning we see H have sex on page with the women he pines for throughout his life. Then h comes along and story kicks off. The third act breakup is kicked off when h sees this OW from his past kiss him. It’s a mistake on H’s part and he instantly regrets it realizing how much he loves h but the damage is done. H/h never divorce but are separated for a good bit of time. Several months for sure.

5 stars all the way until the very last scene of the book. I'm not a prude by any means but that scene came out of no where and it kind of ruined the story for me. Otherwise I loved this book soo much

Only found this book because of another GR review! Young love to mature love. I enjoyed just how much the heroine idolised the hero. Although the blurb indicates he married her as revenge I didn’t get that. I got a confused hero who couldn’t see how much he showed his wife he loved her just couldn’t say it. How he misunderstood his own emotions and although through his inner monologue he thinks he can’t love he does. I really liked him. I liked how he retraced his actions with his wife, how well he understood her, how he grovelled in the best way.

The heroine was super sweet, innocent and loving. A great mum to four kids and respectful of the family. Even hurt she put her family first all her motivations were to be better for them. Are there people out there that don’t swear at all? Can’t say I can relate to that! 🙃

Same old angsty storyline (one that actually works for me) but the author has added some complexities and depth to it.
Can be divided into pre and post marriage parts.
The H is an ass but becomes a greater one after marriage to the h - not that she realizes it - as he's still hankering after his first love (the one that got away or walked away) after years of happy marriage and 3 kids!

I liked the setting on a Greek island - it is the H's home as well as his first love's, and now he has a resort there and the h is visiting/working there.

May review properly ...

Not sure about this story

Is it rape if you tell your husband no and he ignores you? Is it love to hold back support for your wife’s dreams? Is it love to humiliate your wife in front of hundreds of guests? If none of this bothers you, than this romance is for you.

From time to time, I do enjoy reading a Harlequin-esque romance. It's a little more open-door than a regular one, but it's fine (though I did not think it furthered the relationship development, save for their initial encounters).

I was dismayed to read about an instance of an "almost" spousal rape scene. It made me uncomfortable, and I hoped that there was at least some recognition of that by the characters. But everything was swept aside (Poor Polly). Polly was not exactly a sympathetic heroine - her "character development" towards the end didn't make sense. She started off a little meek, sweet and naive, but ended up as a Girl Boss™ who refuses to consider the possibility of forgiveness just because it'll be "weak" of her to do so. That whole fiasco annoyed me. If not for her INFANT CHILD babbling to her at the right time, she would have not forgiven the Kyr at all.

That said, the writing's addictive and I enjoyed the hero's grovel quite a bit, hence, my rating. If there was a little more anger on Polly's part upon discovering Kyr's deception (by omission), and not immediate hurt and retreat, I would have enjoyed this more.

2.5 stars, rounded. This wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be. It wasn’t GOOD, but I actually quite liked parts of it—enough to give this an additional half star. Both the characters had flaws, especially the hero, but I was satisfied with how things played out, even if in reality, the hero shouldn’t actually be forgiven.
