Basically, a novel about two writers listening to a screen-writer tell the story of his script about a painter. There's quite a bit of esoteric art-talk, some definitely language experimenting, and lots of alcohol abuse. The script has a very sappy Hollywood ending. The novel, however, has a fairly fun ending that plays with its own form a little.
