Listen to the Green

Rate this book
Ruth Harms Calkin shares her own hard-earned, authentic experiences with her Lord. In prayer-poems tinged with wonder, joy, humanness, failure, questioning, introspection, celebration, and affirmation she speaks for all of us, groping and learning together what it means to be His.

God's answers are not always welcome, nor His commands easy to follow, but in all these pages the joy of relationship sings through.

I don't read much of this kind of devotional poetry these days, but when I came across Luci's first book at a used bookstore, I had to pick it up. My favorite image (from "Of consolation"):

After silence
each sound
sings
dull clay
shines the
bright coin
in the pot
lemon
honeys its
sweet sequel

Purchased this volume of Luci Shaw’s poetry after hearing a sweet interview with her a couple of months ago. The book is wonderful- I am a new fan of her poetry and will definitely buy more of her work.
