Allergy is generally misunderstood. Left untreated it can lead to serious degenerative disease. Asthma, migraines, arthritis, ulcers and obesity have all been linked to allergy. Fatigue, irritability, body aching, digestive problems, and other vague ailments are typical of allergy. Dr. Bateson-Koch provides insight into why allergy is becoming more common, how it relates to environmental factors, food additives, diet, digestion, body chemistry, addiction, yeast, molds, parasites and childhood illnesses-and why enzymes are the key to healing. Following her program, you won't have to give up your pet, get allergy shots, rotate foods, keep diet diaries or cook allergy-free recipes for the rest of your life. You will not only recover and enjoy an allergy-free life, you will gain invaluable understanding of health and well-being.
Many interesting things and thoughts, all aspects of allergies are covered in the book. Might give hope to people with no knowledge of natural treatments, but not such a great resource for a practioner. Still some good pointers and reminders.
This was a pretty big mind shift for me in how to look at allergies. I never really understood the cause, and kind of was under impression, if you had them, that sucks, learn how to deal with it. This book however talks about how you get allergies, and how to get rid of them. The key that I've been missing in all my previous readings has been plant enzymes. It changes how I see allergies completely. Great book!
Impressive read. Could be considered a must read whether you think you have allergies or not. Pretty comprehensive and detailed. This is aimed at getting to the root of the problem, addressing it there and healing it rather than band-aid approaches or avoidance of foods that interrupt quality of life and cause stress. Having already researched allergies a lot, this one connected a couple of dots for me. There were some minor things I disagreed with, but largely the principles are sound. There is more than one way to skin a cat and while her methods work for many people, I think that there are some easier/other ways to address some of the problems once you understand what is behind the allergies or disease you are dealing with. The best part is, there is hope!
An ok book. Starts off a little over the top with a dramatic example but the information inside is interesting and helpful. The book could use a refresh.
After reading this I realize I have been eating wrong for my whole life. I plan to take the plunge and change my eating habits. Hopefully when I change what I eat, my allergies will go away. I just hope I don't have to give up dark chocolate.
This was a great book about allergies. Only read when you are ready to make a major change to your diet. The author makes making the change seem easy. But give up wheat, dairy, sugar. That's a huge step. I'll update later when I succeed in becomming allergy free!
Great book for anyone that is dealing with allergies or knows someone that is. Gives a much different perspective of where allergies originate from and how the symptoms can be lessened with diet. A great deal of focus on being well, rather than symptom free.
Excellent read on allergies, their causes and their treatment. Includes all types of allergies, but specifically focuses on the 90% of allergies that are missed by rast and traditional tests. Covers causes, related conditions, leaky gut, natural treatments and more. Highly recommend.
