Out of the Cage: While doing a favor for the leader of a wolf shifter pack, a spec ops soldier makes the discovery of a lifetime. After having been illegally experimented on by a shadow branch of the military bent on creating the perfect super soldier, Ulrick Lanston needed a place to relearn himself. Not only did they bond him with a massive jaguar, allowing him to turn into the cat at will, they’d messed with his brain, taking away his free will. After losing his handler and ending up at loose ends, Ulrick tracked down an old army acquaintance he could trust. That led him to Alpha Declan’s wolf shifter pack, and he’s been hiding out with them for over a year. They’ve helped him come to grips with the changes made to him, teaching him how to become one with the animal now living within him.
When Alpha Declan asks Ulrick to sneak into the territory of a coyote shifter pack to look for a missing pack member, he can’t say no. While doing reconnaissance, Ulrick runs across the prettiest coyote he’s ever seen. His jaguar wants to rub all over the wonderful-smelling shifter, marking him as his own. Ulrick knows what that means. His cat has decided the coyote is his mate.
Can Ulrick win the affections of the skittish coyote shifter and bring him home with him while still fulfilling his mission for Declan?
Whew - I have been a Charlie Richards fan for years, but after her last few books - which had little development, boring plots, and were just plain blah - I had almost decided to not buy any more - but Charlie is back in the groove! Although at 84 pages it is a short story, not a novel, it is 84 pages packed with action. Not only is the action back, but it comes with an interesting plot and a satisfying ending. Charlie's strength seems to be short, action-filled stories and I am okay with that.
2024-On the last 10 or so books in my obsessive re-re-read of the series that make up the Stone Ridge world - all 187 of them - whew! While I have re-read the individual series, this is the first time I have read all the series in order for the world.
While trying to find a pack mate that had gone missing in coyote territory Ulrick found his mate Taylor. Ulrick rescued Taylor and Jocomo the wolf he was looking for. When they returned with council members, it hit the fan. Jocomo his brother and the council stayed to choose new leaders for coyotes. Ulrick and his mate set out on starting a life together.
Seriously I always pick a Charlie Richard's book over any other on my list. I remember when the Stone bridge series was first starting out and I still can't get enough.
I love this series actually o love all the series by this author!!! I love all the couples & how others are incorporated with the stories - I just wish each story was longer!!!!!!
