You would only read this book if someone you knew was attached to this unit. Such is my case. My father, PFC Charles Burton Heffner, served honorably with the 77th Infantry Division with the 233rd Combat Engineers. He fought on Leyte, Ie Shima, and the Ryukus. This book tells the very detailed accomplishments of this remarkable unit in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Along the way, it tells of some famous individuals such as Ernie Pyle, who died on Ie Shima and Desmond Doss of Hacksaw Ridge fame. A great read, thorough, and engaging for military readers.
