I have a number of Marvin Kaye’s anthologies and this has been my least favorite so far, but that’s not to say it wasn’t good. I would have rated it a four, but since I didn’t make any notes of specific authors to look up (although I would certainly read more of any of their work), and there was one story that was graphic in its depiction of a parent abusing his child (trigger warning), I’m dropping to a three.

I applaud Kaye for allowing new authors a chance to get their work published and for choosing lesser-known works by more famous authors, but unfortunately that doesn't negate the fact that this anthology is quite poor. Fiction in this anthology generally depends on a plot twist to generate interest. Good fiction depends on writing and characterization to accomplish the same. This anthology is basically a primer in how not to write fiction.

Collection of short stories, some are better than others.

Only a few of the stories really kept my interest and there were some pretty boring ones that I skipped though.
