In a way, this is actually two books. It is spiral bound. The top 2/3 of the book contains different knitting patterns. The lower 1/3 provides knitting tips.

The two sections are independent of one another. If you are working on a pattern, and you need some help, you can go to the lower section.

Ultimate? No. But the designs are classic, if a bit oversized by current standards. It's a clever layout, having the lower third as a mini-reference. This is suitable for any adventurous beginner.
