Destiny Junction: Behind Every Door is a Life, and Behind Every Life is a Destiny

Rate this book
Behind every door is a life, and behind every life is a destiny. Destiny Junction could be your own town. It could be my town. Like any town, behind its doors and storefronts and stained glass windows live and work men, women, and young people—all of whom thirst for the same thing, though most do not realize it. Personal stirrings are at work within hearts that no one can see. This is their story...a story about life and what it means...or what it ought to mean. Perhaps it's your story?

I hardly know how to rate it, since in some ways it was a disappointment and in others it touched me. Let's just say for a Calvinist this is probably not a book you will call a favorite. It's all about different characters' lives and how they are changed by one girl's life and death and a sermon given by the girl's father. One thing I especially didn't like was the way that the Catholic faith is made out to be a true Christian church. (Many may disagree with me, but I believe they are a works-based religion, not one founded solely on Christ's work, and therefore not truly Christian. I'm not saying there aren't any true Christians among Catholic churches, however.) One good thing about it is that it shows that everyone is a sinner, though it didn't go far enough in the totally depraved department. It was fairly well written, though it jumped around a lot from character to character, and it was kind of simply written, with not much description--but there was something that kept me reading, anyway.

An okay read.

The book was okay. I see the author's purpose for the book is salvation. Also showing how our lives can affect the lives of others even after we are gone. I also see Him showing the power of forgiveness, and how reaching out to the ones we consider outcasts can change their lives and ours. the book had a positive ending though probably not realistic. I dont agree with the authors doctrine. Jesus came to show us His Father not necessarily to model obedience. He came so that we could see How much the father loves us. That is what we need to understand. Salvation in the original language is sozo means wholeness, healing, deliverance, etc. we all have eternal life now the question is were we spend it. We are forgiven by the father now it is a question of do we want to allow that forgiveness to be a factor in our lives. I did finish the book. I like that the minister asks the people to ask God to show them basically their need for Him. To much emphases on obedience not enough emphases on God,s love . when we understand that obedience will be the natural outpouring as a result.

While the writing wasn't bad; it was too simplistic. I've read other Michael Phillips and enjoyed it much more than this. What his characters were saying wasn't wrong, it was just too pat. He writes how the unpopular kids who are bullied by the popular are suddenly accepted, etc. I'm sorry, after watching my own kids be rejected by kids at our church, I know that just doesn't happen. I would say it was the exception. He addressed a lot of different questions and his answers were good, but.... It looks as if there are more books in this series I'm not sure I'll try them out; but if everything was tied up in a pretty box with a bow in this book, I'm wondering what will happen in the next.

If you are looking for fast-paced, action packed, this book may not be for you. If you are looking for inspiring, uplifting, and spiritual, this is definitely for you.
Destiny Junction is like any town in America, with lots of great characters whose lives intersect because of one girl! She was bold in her faith. Because of her boldness, lives were changed, relationships were restored, families brought back together, and questions were answered about faith.
This book does have a lot of characters to follow. I loved it!

This book is about how the life on one Christian can impact many others, especially when that person dies. However, this book has way, way too many characters to the point where it is almost impossible to keep them all straight. I would suggest to anyone who is planning on reading this book to have a pen and paper handy to write down the names of all the characters and who they are. I didn't do that, so I lost track pretty quickly of the cast of characters. Because of that, about a third of the way through the book I started to just skim the pages and speed-read my way to the end.

The life witness of one young woman, her tragic death, the the funeral sermon given by her father transformed one individual after another in the town of Destiny Junction. The story is overtly evangelistic with results that are unrealistic. But I ask myself why unrealistic? If everyone who names the name of Jesus would deeply care and love even the "unlovable" in the name of Jesus, could there not be a change in destiny for the people of our neighborhoods and communities?

Good book

I usually choose non-fiction books to read yet I'm glad I was able to read this one. The author showed me what I think is just a little thing really is great to the Lord Jesus. For that I'm thankful

I like how the chapters had the days and times at the top to make it easier to follow the timeline but it seemed kind of scattered in my opinion. However, I still enjoyed reading this book! I have read many books by Michael Phillips and I always love his work!

Captivating, heartbreaking and heartwarming - this book shows how the death of one young woman affects the lives and attitudes of quite a few people in a small town, and makes them think, and re-think their relationship to God.
I do not doubt that one single person can touch so many lives, and - as the author says himself at the end - the book does not reflect real life (oh but what if!?). For me, it was like a fairytale, narrating a miracle happening - and who can make miracles happen better than the Lord?
I liked reading this story, and I can hope that what happens in there, might come to pass one day.

This story was thought provoking in the "what ifs". As the life of one person impacts so many in this town the story is probably unrealistic and yet we don't understand how God moves and works so I know all things are possible. It caused me to consider that I need to be bolder in my faith and that I have probably missed many opportunities to make a difference in someone's life that could be significant. Definitely one I will continue to think about.

Excellent

God’s redeeming love. How His love is so fulfilling, forgiving and freely given. He does love us so much! Can you imagine sacrificing your own son so that His life would save someone else? Abraham was told to take his son up the mountain and sacrifice him but then just before he was going to God told him to stop. God said that He would provide a sacrifice. Later,He did, His own Son, Jesus Christ.

Life changing , life enriching

Interesting and, more importantly, inspiring. Whether you are a skeptic, a new or long term Christian, this book has something for everyone to reflect on which can enrich lives. Worth the time and it reads quickly. However, consider taking time to reflect on what you read and what it means in your own life.

BELONGING
I have read many hundreds of books, from Azimov to Zelazney, but Michael Phillips, after T Davis Bunn, is my favorite author. And this book is now my new favorite book. It is absolutely the best and most relevant exposition of the process of salvation I have found in fourth years

What a wonderful example of a life lived in such a way that a legacy of many people were examining their lives. People were seeking a relationship with God according to their faith or lack of faith. No Matter how long you have been a Christian, this book will touch you deeply and cause you to think about where you are n your Penrith walk.

A lot of Thank you

I just have to say, this is the first book I have read by this author. It moved me in such a way. I didn't wanna lay it down, I didn't want it to end. The walk with our Heavenly Father is sacred and different for all. This one town pulls together after tragedy and realizes how thirsty they are.
Thank you thank you for this wonderful read.

The best Christian fiction book I have read. What a clear and amazing way to explain what it means to be a Christian and why every life matters to God. Not only is this book informative, it is a real page-turner as well. You will find yourself somewhere in this book and I pray that it helps you. Thank you Michael R. Phillips for speaking truth through story-telling.

I approach this book with the view of it being another sappy Christian novel. It is a bit farfetched in the sense that so many individuals are brought to Christ because of the death of a young woman, but I found the book to have a solid Christian message and to be worth reading. The pastor's sermon on salvation following his daughter's death really lays out the core of the Christian message.

An amazing book full of so much! It’s definitely the kind of book one can read again and again. I loved it and the book should be one that everyone should read! A review can’t do it justice, because it needs to be experienced.
