Can I go to the Kingdom of Sweets with the Nutcracker Prince too? What a perfect little read for the young and old. This is a holiday picture book for smaller children & the artwork alone sold me on this. When I saw the cover of this book, I snatched it off the store shelf and immediately bought it. The illustrations are simple and beautiful with a striking color palette. The story itself is a simple retelling of the Nutcracker story. It takes me back to the holiday season as a small child. I just loved it!

This book was great. It has lovely pictures that are sure to evoke nostalgia. The Nutcracker has always been my favorite ballet and has always been a holiday must to see, so, lacking the ability to attend the ballet this year, it was really awesome to read the actual story of the Nutcracker and see how much is different in the original story from the ballet. Definitely can see the ballet in the story, but there is so so much more! Definitely worth a read!

Pri slovenskej verzii moje deti zaujali hlavne ilustrácie, oproti filmovej adaptácii si však hneď všimli "zjednoduený dej", čo ich mierne sklamalo (vynechanie bojových scén vám moji chlapci tak ľahko neodpustia), takže dúfam, že si čoskoro pozrieme alebo prečítame plnú verziu. Avšak na rozbujnenie snovej fantázie a pre vizuálnu potechu celkom ok.

Ešte mi udrel do očí preklad mena Sugar Plum Fairy s ktorým sa podľa mňa mohli viac pohrať, takže malý mínusový bod za text.

Olipas ihastuttava versio klassikkotarinasta! Erityisesti sydäntä lämmitti suloinen kuvitus, johon kuopus ihastui täysin. Esikoinen tykästyi puolestaan tarinaan, joten uskon meidän palaavan tämän kirjan pariin useasti.
