She soon discovers that she’s not actually qualified for anything and is forced to take a job that’s her very worst nightmare.

Will she ever find true love?

Fourth in the series and as good as ever
If you’ve read books 1 – 3 then you know what Alison is like (if not, go and download them). Picking up where we left her at the end of book three we now find Alison at a crossroads in her life. Even though she hated Mother and is afraid of becoming her we do see elements of Mother in Alison, although she uses them for good rather than bad. All the characters are fantastic, even little Bonnie has a big personality. I loved this book! There were situations which I couldn’t imagine Alison turning to her advantage and yet… I loved the ending and thoroughly recommend this 5 star book. Fat Girl Slim IS forever!

The perfect finale to a fabulously dark and hysterical series.

I'm so sad that this series has ended but completely happy with how Marina brought everything to a satisfying close. The character growth for Alison throughout the 4 books has been monumental, she's really tackled some demons and learnt to make peace with her past but not in the way you would expect. She still tells the odd lie, but lets face it, that's why we love her. As always the conversations between Alison and Doris had me in fits throughout and Alison's courage at the not so sunny days care home was both inspiring and commendable. Albert was an especially superb character and instrumental in the feel good vibes of this fantastic final conclusion. Highly recommend this series.

The protagonist Alison has painted herself as the bad girl in this series but in this fourth book, she makes peace with the world, even her upbringing. This book really made me smile through some serious situations. How Alison's journey was shown through her job at a care home was brilliant, she came out the hero - even though she didn't want to work there at first. I'm a fan of the other three books in the series and had forgotten how good Doris (the sidekick character) is - it's all in the dialogue. Genuinely recommending this book especially if you need a main character you can applaud. Great stuff.
