Author of "Go In and In," "One Soul," and "Prayers to the Infinite," Danna Faulds writes about her latest book of "More and more these days my old orientation is falling away. Rule books and signposts that were helpful in the past don't offer much guidance in this new landscape. The poetry and prose in "From Root to Bloom" is my attempt to describe the unfolding journey of my last two years, both light and shadow."
Some of my yoga teachers have used Danna Faulds’ poetry in their classes, but I’ve never read it on my own. I really enjoyed this collection. It brought me peace, and I will definitely return to it. I can see how many of them emerged as a result of her yoga training, but these poems definitely have value beyond the practice of yoga. They are like little healing elixirs. There were times where they seemed to flow into each other and start to sound a little too alike, but there were still some very distinct poems that stuck out to me. I will come back to this collection again, and will look for other works from this poet.
Beautifully written, I see myself reflected in the words and images. I use Danna's poems in my Yoga classes where they offer nourishment, comfort, encouragement, and peace. Perfect for contemplation and meditation, student and teacher alike connect with who we are in each moment. I have deep gratitude and respect for Danna Faulds, as a poet, a woman, and Yoga teacher.
