The Imposter Solution

Rate this book
Back Yourself. Believe. Achieve.

Imposter Syndrome doesn’t just affect middle-aged suits in big board rooms. The typical thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are part of the imposter experience - things like overwork, perfectionism and procrastination, hiding out, playing small and holding back – are common for so many of us.

This is not just a different name for self-doubt. It is pervasive and goes directly to your sense of self-worth and belonging. You don’t need a confidence hack. You need to go to the root cause of your feelings of unworthiness and learn to trust that you are enough.

Cultivating genuine self-belief and self-trust, knowing you deserve to be in any room regardless of who you are and where you come from, fully accepting your imperfect self, letting go of all the tricks you use to try to convince people you’re enough - the perfectionism, people pleasing and pretending - this is the key to happiness and personal success.

Psychologist Cassandra Dunn, creator of the popular Crappy to Happy podcast, has created a program with five clear steps – Recognise, Regulate, Reframe, Remember, Respond – so you can understand that you’re not a fraud. You do belong. You deserve success.

As a master’s student with a history of significant trauma, I often struggle with imposter syndrome, especially having spent much of my 20s in more professional roles whilst battling my mental health. This book provided a lot of helpful insights, and I appreciated the guidance. However, while about half of the content was genuinely useful, the other half focused on explaining very basic psychology concepts.

I really enjoyed this. It was practical, and not all about ‘believing’ in yourself.
It validated and explained different reasons you might have the thought patterns you do, and how you might go about handling them.

Yep, recommend.

It was an easy listen, with several valid points that really resonated with me. While it didn't blow me away, it provided some solid insights worth reflecting on.

This audio book was the first self help type book that made me finally understand why physiologists refer to your childhood and how it influences the adult you become .

As a seasoned professional woman in the C-Suite I still experience regular imposter syndrome moments . I’ve finally understood what is driving them , and have some great steps to work towards dispelling them .

This was in the audible Plus catalogue until the end of May, and I read it, then thought I would go back, listen to it again and take notes. That is how useful I found it, but of course my ADHD brain loop was closed; I did not take the notes before it moved OUT of the free service. Sighs.

I yam… what I yam.

This book resonated on so many levels, and has actually given me the confidence to speak at a conference that I have turned away many opportunities in the past for before. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

For someone who's never looked too deeply into the imposter syndrome, the practical examples made me realise I had suffered from it years ago. There are plenty of CBT techniques to identify and work towards overcoming imposter syndrome in this quick and useful audio book

It was useful to read but not as memorable as I needed it to be, so not as impactful. Though I am sure that was more my fault as a reader than had anything to do with the author.
