I really wanted to give this 5 stars based on Judy Smith's incredible experience alone! I was fascinated by her dissection of different crises and how to handle them. However, I found myself struggling through the read—not because of the topic, but because the chapters felt very long and heavily saturated with personal reflection prompts.
While I wanted more 'behind-the-scenes' crisis management, I LOVED the P.O.W.E.R. Model. That is a tool I’m definitely keeping in my toolbox. If you’re looking for a deep dive into crisis analysis, there is great info here, but be prepared for a lot of self-reflection along the way.
Would give it a 2.5 (this rating comes a few months after reading so maybe I don’t really remember) but man for a book discussing self reflection and ego, the author can sure talk a lot about herself. I liked the theme of the book and the structure, but didn’t need to be a full book to get the point across. Also talk about the most jumpscare worst people ever who have since come to be worse than the scandals mentioned in the book.
