This was my first introduction to Splat the Cat. I liked him. I thought the story was cute, I loved that he leans towards being mischievous, and I liked his last words. I loved the tiny pumpkin, The peanut shaped pumpkin, and the not orange pumpkin. I really love his eyes when he sees the perfect pumpkin.
I have to admit that Splat the Cat is growing on me, as at first I was not quite a fan. The "Pumpkin=Picking Plan" is a great read for the fall season and pumpkin harvest time. Be it for just the fall overall, or Halloween, or Thanksgiving this is a good one to bring off your shelf for the early easy readers. First Splat experiences the enjoyment of jumping in a pile of raked leaves, until his mother sends him off on an errand to find the perfect front porch pumpkin.
Then off he goes, and the book transforms into the perfect precursor to a pumpkin patch field trip! All sorts of activities are mentioned and then of course in typical Splat style, chaos reins and he's off on a tumbling adventure...
Splat the Cat loves the fall weather! It is his favorite. One day, his mom asks him to help her rake the leaves. He really enjoys raking them but when he's finished, he can't help but jump in them! His mom decides she has the perfect job for him. She sends him to go find them the perfect pumpkin. Scat goes on an adventure! He searches everywhere for the perfect pumpkin. Some are too small, some aren't round, some aren't even orange! Finally, he spots the perfect pumpkin and he is so excited. It is so big, he will have to roll it home. It took a lot of hard work but he finally made it. His mom was so thankful for all of his hard work and loved the pumpkin.
I thought this was very cute.
I would read this book during the fall, especially if we were about to go to the pumpkin patch.
Join Splat and Seymour as they pick the perfect pumpkin and have lots of autumny fun! This is such a fun book for the fall season! The illustrations are so cute - I love all of the character's facial expressions, especially Seymour's when he goes flying through the air 😂 I got this book from the library and there's a sticker on it saying that it's a Halloween book, but I feel like it's more of an autumn book. It could work for either though! Thank you for reading! Follow @bronteandwilder on Instagram for fun book recommendations!

Splat the Cat and the Pumpkin Picking Plan by Rob Scotton: Splat needs to find the very best pumpkin at the pumpkin patch. The best pumpkin is also the biggest, and how does he get it home? We do enjoy Splat the Cat and this one is as cute as the others.
Splat the Cat is a funny series, especially for early-childhood. Me and a few pre-k students read this around halloween so this story fit what they were seeing in their lives. Leaf piles and pumpkin patches, this book was sweet and somewhat relatable.
This is a rare pumpkin-but-not-Halloween picture book that has some light slapstick humor in it. I don't think I have read any other books about Splat the Cat, but I like the raggedy way he is illustrated and I think kids will appreciate the humor perhaps more than adults.
Splat the Cat has a plan to pick the perfect pumpkin, but none of them seem to fit the bill...until he finds a pumpkin so big and perfect that he can't get it home...or can he?
Splat the Cat is always a favorite with either my granddaughter or my grown special needs son. In this one Splat is helping rake leaves but he and his friend Seymour start playing in the leaves so mom sends them to pick the 'perfect' pumpkin to put on their porch. So they set out to find one. They do and the adventure to get it home is great!
This cute book about picking out a HUGE pumpkin at the pumpkin patch is more fun than I expected. My classroom of 6 year olds like it a lot. It has multiple experiences in it that they can connect with. We will use it as a jumping off point for creating our own "perfect pumpkin" art and writing project.
