Almost in Love #3

Gentleman Caller

Rate this book
Giggle, groan -- change the baby -- pant, moan -- flip the grilled cheese. Twenty minutes on the phone, 8-10 times a day and Maxine Bleckner can pay for rent, groceries and diapers. But then she gets a new client who just wants to talk...whose sexy voice disrupted her whole routine and leads her to anything but ladylike thoughts. An investigative reporter, Harry Watson needs this story to support his three-year-old daughter. But the 1-900 woman he calls captivates him with her sultry voice and innocent laugh until he wants only to expose her bare skin, not her career. The only way off the hook will be to tell the truth and find his real calling -- her love.

Maxine A.K.A. “India McBride” is a single mom with a newborn and a phone sex operator. I loved how she was a mess and changing diapers while she was on the phone with one of her clients. Loved Maxine’s ability to multitask. Phone sex may not be the most glamorous job in the world, but, hey, if you’re good at it and it helps pay the rent/bills, why not?

Harry is a single father of a 3-year old daughter and a freelance writer doing an expose on the phone sex industry. What were these women like? What were their lives like? How did they spend their day? Little did he know that he’d end falling for one of these women, and that woman happens to be India.

He stars calling her more and more, and the two get to know each other, which was nice.

Enjoyable and well-written! Characters are real and endearing. A great blossoming friendship/romance of 2 single, struggling parents, who relate to each other in so many ways.

An A+ story!

I was looking for something that wasn't heavy and more invert

I was looking for something more entertaining than something heavy and dark. And I found Are You Lonesome Tonight? Nicely done. Well written. And a plot that was believable for a summer read. Very pleasant from start to fjnish..

PHONE SEX???

I enjoyed much of the humor in this book, but it’s also sad to think of the condition of the human race today…. The storyline is not so much about “romance” but rather leans mostly toward lust.

Different plot twists in this book.

Maxine gets dumped by her pilot boyfriend when she is four months pregnant, he also takes all her money. Needing a way to support her new son, she gets a 900 number and starts a phone sex business.

Harry is an ad writer who gives it up for freelance writing when his daughter is born and her mother leaves them. He is given the assignment of writing an article about phone sex workers. Of course, he calls Maxine (who uses the name India with her "clients").

The book is funny at times, and at times it is a bit sad. The characters are good people just trying to get by and you'll be routing for a happy ending.

A good romance with a big dose of real life. Maxine and Harry are both single parents and I was pleasantly surprised that they had to deal with real life issues like jobs, money, baby throw up and the juggling to find time for sex. I wasn't a big fan of the side story with Polly but the rest of the story made up for my annoyance when she came in the scene.

Very Easy book to read, one of those you start and think "I can read this as a quick pick me up put me down when you have five minutes to spare" Wrong, I found this to be one of those books that i just couldn't put down.

It was so easy to connect with the characters. I absolutely loved Maxine and Harry but by far my favourite was the Sassy Polly. would definitely recommend this book.

Great

Wow book #2 just as good as the first. I did think this one would be a continuation of the first one but it is not. None of the characters in book 1 are in book 2....disappointed. Overall, another good story by Bobby Hutchinson. Going to read book three now.

Too many lies

This was an ok read. The best parts were the kids and what the phone operators were doing while talking on the phones. The main love interests just seemed lacking somehow.

Are You Lonesome Tonight

This is second book I've read by Bobby Hutchinson. Both books were interesting stories filled with romance, humor, and the trials and tribulations of life.

900 line

Amusing and all about how people can complicate a relationship. Great characters with their own story playing in the background adding lots of color.
