32 pp. Pub: 9/95. *****In a dark, dark house, up the dark, dark stairs, in a dark, dark chest lurks--a great big monster! Silly, spooky fun abounds in this delightful story for children just learning how to read on their own. Full-color.
A great book for teaching English as second language, it has words missing and pictures instead where the kids can shout out the words. There are also some nice materials online to make it into a lesson plan, I did a kind of escape room with clues and picture round the classroom with a dark dark box at the end.
I found this to be a delightful rebus reader that would really appeal to kids because it has a fun storyline that they can really read without being too advanced.
My son read this book to me, and it was very enjoyable. I especially like that it has flash cards in the back of the book for him to work on new words.
