I don't know what age group this was intended for and it led to it feeling quite disjointed, as a lot of the time we're reading from adult perspectives and dealing with more mature content but then we'll switch to a child perspective and it feels like a middle-grade story. There's some good atmosphere and threat in here but it lacks any real punch. I also wasn't a fan of the writing and the story headed in a direction I just didn't care for (2.5 stars rounded down).
