Falling in love with my stepbrother wasn’t on my bingo card for this year.

Nicky

My parents lying to me for years isn’t really that shocking. So when they tell me that my actual father is a biker, I decide to track him down. All I’ve ever wanted is a loving family.

The night before I’m meant to meet up with him, I head to a bar to blow off some steam and meet a guy who rocks my world. We agree to one night. No names. No numbers. Perfect.

Except I can’t stop thinking about him.

When I meet my dad’s family and spot a familiar confident smile, I realise that the hot guy from the bar is my stepbrother.

Do I choose the family I’ve always wanted or the man who makes me feel things no one else has?

Booker

My time is taken up with running my tattoo shop and helping vulnerable people as a member of the Fallen Gargoyles MC. I have great friends, and a wonderful family, but I want more. I want a man by my side.

While on a job for the MC, I stop off in a bar and meet a man that captivates me straight away. He says no names, but I decide to get it out of him in the morning.

Except he leaves before I wake.

It may have been one night, but I vow to find him.

When my mom’s husband introduces his son and he turns out to be my mystery man, I’m ecstatic. I will give him time to get used to being a part of a loving family, but make no mistake...

I will be making him mine.

Nicky is book one in a contemporary new motorcycle club series. This is a low angst, steamy, humor filled book, with mentions of domestic abuse, and parental neglect.

let’s see:
-this seems like a “my little pony” episode, not a MC club;
-everyone needs to learn about boundaries, they left me scarred for life;
-nicky complimented his own nipples and i don’t think i will ever recover;
-this needs a serious round of editing. exhibit a: “[bike]” instead of the actual brand name, not once but twice; exhibit b: “with the snort, i just snorted, i’m really glad…” what the actual fuck?

tbh this is on me. i read another atrocious book by this author a while back, but they wrote it in a week for some issues. i’ve realized that the short time isn’t the problem.

It's a quick and somewhat cute read. It's not Willow's best work, it has a lot of typos (mainly at the beginning) but i enjoyed it

“This is Nicky, aka Nipples, aka my future husband. If anyone attempts to flirt with him, ask him out, or just generally steal him from me, I will flood your bedroom with glitter and sand.”

Nicky finds out that the man he thought was his dad isn’t - actually his dad is a biker named Kenny who runs a motorcycle club. On his way to meet his bio-dad, Nicky has a ONS and when he finally meets his dad’s family it turns out his dream guy is his stepbrother!

This was so rushed and unfortunately it showed.

It’s also another case of a book being marketed as ‘stepbrothers’ but not really delivering on that trope. The whole appeal is the slightly taboo nature but that gets missed entirely because the dad had zero contact with Nicky until he was an adult.

I liked Booker a lot - his determination to be with Nicky even when he didn’t know his name but especially after! He was in it to win it 🥰 His unhinged horniness did get to be a bit much but overall I liked his character.

I really just wanted more. More connection with the characters, more seeing them at their jobs or with the motorcycle club, etc. I didn’t care for the half-brother drama and could not believe that either parent didn’t check in with the kid at all during such a massive change. It was just okay for me.

I received an advanced copy for review - all opinions are my own.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️
Tropes: stepbrothers, possessive MC, cum play, biker gang
Review:
I saw the blurb for this and was so ready for possessive MC accidentally falls for his hook-up turned long lost stepbrother, and it did deliver on that. However, I felt this book suffered from being as short as it was. I have read novellas that pack a punch in 100 pages and do it so very well, constantly driving forward but feeling like it is a natural speed. However, this felt like it cheapened the story and feelings by going through it so quickly, and I just couldn't go behind it as much as I wanted to. It was also rather silly at moments, and there were so many peripheral characters that meant it was hard to know who anyone was. I think an extra 50-100 pages would have helped the pacing issues, and quite possibly the vibes of the book too. I did enjoy it, but I was hoping for so much more.

Nicky and Booker

This was a motorcycle club hopped up on sugar and I…didn’t hate it. I pretty much knew I wasn’t getting a dark MC read, but this was even sweeter than I imagined.

I loved Booker’s confidence. He knew what he wanted and made me bones about it. Nicky was the wishy-washy one. In the end, of course Nicky gets to have the best of both worlds. Nicky and Booker had some yummy heat between the sheets and I’ve got zero complaints about that.

I hated the nicknames Dimples and Nipples. Just…no. I also think this book seriously needed another round with an editor. Missing bike descriptions, quotation makes all over the place where they didn’t need to be and one really weird paragraph near the end that was told in first person. Overall, 3.5 generously rounded up to 4.

It is a promising start to a new low angst MC series. The Fallen Gargoyles are a LBGTQA friendly motorcycle club who help and support the community run by Kenny, so it's no surprise when Nicky reaches out he is taken in with open arms to get the family he has always dreamed to have. Booker is Kenny's stepson, an all hands in your mine once I know it. With Nicky, that's not so easy. With his past, he's terrified to rock the boat, so he has to choose Booker or his new family.
A great low angst quick read that definitely looking forward to more books to see how this all plays out.

I felt like this had a lot of potential, but sadly it didn't live up to my expectations. I mean, it started off strong and it was easy to get captivated by the beginning, with Nicky finding out that the man he thought was his father wasn't. Also, the situation of Nicky accidentally hooking up with the guy who turned out to be his stepbrother added a little twist to things, but in the end, it felt a bit rushed and I couldn't help but want a bit more development between the MCs.

I liked the characters though and I really wished that there was a bit more of their story and relationship, the book is only 108 pages and I felt like it was a story that needed more than that. I liked the lighter take on the MC club, and there were some intriguing characters introduced as well, so maybe I'll give the second book a try.

This was a motorcycle club read - I went into this blind as this was a new to me author and it’s definitely a sweeter read for a MC story

I enjoyed it- it was well written and had a interesting story.

Booker’s confidence was great. He knew what he wanted and had a plan to get it. Nicky was a bit more hesitant at first but came round quite quickly.

'It's funny how I can lose and find myself in him.'

This book was that perfect dose of silly, fun and spicy. It's short and sweet, there's lots of humour and heart all. For a quick read it was wonderful, I enjoyed the writing style and fell in love with the characters.

Nicky and Booker are so fitting for one another, they have great chemistry from start to finish and compliment each other. The nicknames, attraction and all of the charm between these two. Nipples & Dimples, can't help but root for and adore them.

I must admit I loved the found family vibes too, Nicky finally finding home and the motorcycle club. Along with the behind the scenes work, Nicky's tech skills able to fit in with everyone and help.

Oh and Reed I wasn't sure of at first, but the explanation for his behaviour made so much sense. They're a teen too, fitting behaviour and he did the right thing in the end.

Honestly I only wish this book had been longer, as it had more potential for like plot and I'd have loved to see their developing relationship.

Still it works for a novella, it's entertaining fast paced and leads Nicky & Booker to their happy ending 💛

Read for a group challenge week 5. Picked for a challenge and pretty much the first one that met requirements with the lowest page count. Stepbrother romance. It was pretty ridiculous, the characters pretty much all light hearted except for Reed. Found family and the softest MC biker gang ever. Insta but the deal not sealed. Easy read and short. Kinda wanted to see the mom and Brian at the dinner table with all the bikers. They got off easy. Felt like a spin off with Max's relationship. Nice start to the week.

On another note, Kindle is getting shitter with the about this book not working and the review screen auto popping up at the end, freezing etc. May have to invest in a kindle. Amazon clearly can't deal with keeping up with newer tech.

Fun

This is a fun and flirty story. Nicky finds out at 23 that he isn't his fathers son. Not that his parents have ever treated him well anyway.
He learns his bio dad is the head of an MC club in Oregon.

Before meeting his dad, he hits up a gay bar to relieve some stress. Meeting a great guy who could be "the one"
Turns out this great guy is his stepbrother. And so the fun begins.

This is a fun and sweet short story with a great hea.

Bizarrely rushed but at the same time so long. Some grammatical errors, especially in the first half, but that did not put me off. Dimples & Nipples almost put me off but not quite. I just did not like the insta-love and I didn't feel the connection between the characters. I guess it was a book to pass time, one that does not need a lot of attention and can be easily forgotten once you're done.

When Nicky’s parents tell him that his dad isn’t his biological dad, it gives Nicky a reason to finally find family that actually care about him. Because the parents that raised him? They couldn’t care less about him. Nicky has always wanted family. So he tracks down his dad who turns out to be the leader of a motorcycle club. Excited and nervous to meet him, he heads out. But the night before he decides to stop at a bar. Meeting “Dimples”. The man who instantly turned his head and vice versa. They spend an unforgettable night together, without exchanging names. And though Nicky feels bad leaving this man in his motel bed in the morning, he doesn’t want to be late to meet his bio dad, Kenny. Meanwhile, Dimples aka Booker believes he just found the man for him. There is no doubt in his mind that he will meet his mystery man again. He just needs to find him first. And lucky for him, he shows up a few days later…as he stepbrother. Not that that stops Booker from kissing him onsite. And with him telling everyone about the man of his dreams, well their shock isn’t much. Torn between wanting to be with Booker and not losing his new family, Nicky isn’t sure what to do. Can he have it all? This was a cute, short story! I definitely laughed at Booker’s antics and determination to make Nicky his. I’m looking forward to checking out these other stories with such a fun group.

Rushed, flat story and filled with errors

I really hate giving anything less than a four star review. Usually three stars is my low point, but occasionally, there comes along a work that just doesn't make it even that far. This is one of those times.
First of all, edit, edit, EDIT! The amount of grammatical errors in this was simply appalling! Half the time there was no punctuation at all and sentences just all ran together. Dialogue bled into regular sentences and the tense was all over the place. Then, there were numerous times where the wrong character's name was used. Any editor worth their salt could have easily fixed these. As far as the story goes - it was pretty bad! Don't get me wrong, the idea was a decent one, but the execution failed miserably. There was no consistency to the character's personalities and they were completely flat! I soldiered through but I was ready to give up by the third chapter. I don't have any previous experience with this author, so I don't know if this is typical of their writing, but I can honestly say that I have no plans to look further. I'm just really disappointed!

Attempting to get to my backlog of favorite authors and their newest releases... Here's Willow Thomas's "Nicky." It's the first novel in her latest series, Fallen Gargoyles.

This novella was relatively angst-free, which was phenomenal (considering I have some dark romances lined up in my future--then again, it's Willow, and she doesn't mess with a lot of angst). Willow does do a lot of sweetness and fluff, though (so much yes there). She also excels at the steam and the spice.

Their chemistry was immediate. Their connection was undeniable. Their situation was...a smidge sticky at first (well, at second), but then they quickly figured it out.

This is actually one of many new series on the horizon (from multiple authors) featuring a biker gang, and I'm all here for it. ;)

You should go read this (and if you're wondering if you remember Nicky from somewhere, you do; he's Max's best friend (the main character is "Knocked For Six," part of Willow's Caught Off Guard series)).

Nicky from Willow Thomas is book one in the Fallen Gargoyles MC and boy is it a sweet and steamy read. The story focuses on Nicky, a young man who finds out that his parents have lied to him for years on who his biological father is. When he finds out, he knows that he wants to find him and decides to track him down. On his way though he has a hot one-night stand with a guy who rocks his world, but due to everything that is going on with him he leaves the next morning, thinking about the guy but not expecting to bump into him again when he meets his father and to also find out that his one night stand was his step-brother, Booker.

Booker is a tattoo artist who knows his place in the world, when he has a one-night stand who he can’t stop thinking about, he is more than surprised when he finds out that it was his stepbrother who he slept with. But Booker knows that Nicky is the one for him and he is going to show Nicky how special he is, even when some roadblocks are thrown in the way.

Overall, this was super sweet and steamy MM book about finding out where you belong. Although there was some drama, these two characters have their tribe. It is a quick read so its fast paced with some insta-love but totally enjoyable and a good way to wile away a few hours!

Omg. This book. THIS BOOK!!! It exceeded all my expectations. I love this author but she set the bar high and she surpassed it. Getting through a game of emotions and all that in 100 pages is quite a roller-coaster. And it is written very fluidly, without forgetting any details. She gave it her all. Everything you want to know is inside the book. No detail has been overlooked. Everything is right on target. All the emotions are here, from anger to love, vulnerability, sadness and more. A wicked array of emotions that tie us to the story, to the characters. From the stereotypical biker club to a deep friendship, family chosen. And extreme scorching hot scenes. And what can we say about the humor between them. Adding a touch of fun and joy.

I simply adored it, and even shed a tear. It's a masterpiece from this author. I stayed up to finish the story. A real page turner. I wanted so badly to know everything there was to know. I wanted to transport myself to that club and meet all those people. The banter sounds amazing and so on point.

Jump in this book!!! And you will enjoye it.

ARC REVIEW
I have been waiting for Nicky’s story ever since meeting him in Knocked for Six - being the best friend of Max. I had absolutely no idea where his story would come from and the waiting was pure hell (Thank you Willow Thomas for always leaving me wanting haha).
I love Nicky - love his independence, his sass, his complete knowledge that he is hot; but I also love that his past has affected him and he is insecure when it comes to belonging. He is determined to find out who his father is, and in a way find out if he could find a family to belong to. Booker is amazing. He never questions that his one night stand is the one for him, that he will do anything possible to find him and make him mine. Finding out he is his new stepbrother doesn’t slow him down at all and watching him try to convince Nicky while also giving him space was enjoyable to read.

I don’t want to give too much away - as usual Willow’s books are short and amazing - but I do encourage anyone wanting hot bikers, found family and choosing happiness and love over everything to first read the rest of her books and then pick up this start to an all new series.
Warning though - it ends on an overall cliffhanger, not for Booker and Nicky.

Two things I love? Stepbrothers and motorcycle clubs in books. When I saw this book was coming out and had both, I immediately added it to my tbr. Because sign me the fuck up for all that. I originally didn't know that this book was going to be a novella. Or well, as short as it was in general. It's a quick 108 pages with a 50/50 ratio of story and spice.

It all started when Nicky found out that his mom has been lying his whole life and his dad isn't really his dad. Immediately making a mission to find him, he does so quickly. The night before Nicky is meant to meet his father he meets a stranger at a club for a hookup that blows his mind. Said stranger ends up to be... You guessed it. His stepbrother. Booker has no intention of letting Nicky go, despite the others slight reluctance.

I enjoyed this book as an easy read. I will say, that I would have loved it was longer so it didn't feel so fast paced. It has potential to be so much longer. However, that doesn't go to say it's not good! If you like stepbrothers and you like motorcycle clubs then this is one you'd likely enjoy. As a 'son's of anarchy' fan myself, I had fun. It was also a bit funny at times.

This spin off from the Caught Off Guard series focusing on Max’s friend Nicky and new characters from the Fallen Gargoyles MC. Nicky learns some things about his family and goes off to meet his biological father. His parents are not the warm and fuzzy kind and Max has been the only real family he’s had for so long. So this feels like something he needs to do and maybe get the family he finally deserves.

It’s a little bit of a different take on a MC club series and I think it’s off to a decent start. It’s not as dark as other MC books I’ve read and the cast of characters are quirky and funny. There are some rom-com moments with funny banter between the characters and I thought the meet the family moment was a good setup. It’s definitely one of the more light-hearted MC series I have read which was a nice change of pace. I’m beyond curious as to which characters will be featured in the series (please say Jet). It’s a fast read and seems like a good point to build the series on and looking forward to Echo’s story and whoever else comes after!

story of Nicky and Booker

This is a stepbrothers to lovers romance, featuring Nicky and Booker, and is the first book in the Fallen Gargoyles MC series. This is a novella sized book.

This is by far my favourite book of Willow Thomas so far. I think it’s partly because I’ve read all of her books now, and they are all interconnected, so I have gotten to know Nicky in previous books. As well as the added bonus of cameos of Max, Bron, Tyler and the others from the Caught Off Guard series. Yay!

This is book is fantastic. I love a good stepbrother book and this is a keeper. It’s full of funny banter, nicknames, obsessed MMC, insta love, found family, dirty talk and some spice to top it off.

There is also great secondary character development that makes me eager for the next book. So glad I found Willow Thomas, I have loved all of her books and can’t wait for more.

Things to expect in this MM romance are:
Stepbrothers, yay!
MC club
Dimples!
MMC Obsessed
Funny AF
Dirty talk and spice
Soulmates

Stepbrother bikers? yes please.

Willow has done it again. Spinning off of her hockey romance series Caught off Guard we find Max’s best friend and nomadic biker, Nicky, heading to Oregon to meet his bio dad. Enter the Fallen Gargoyles MC and a stepbrother to swoon over.

I love these short reads from Willow… they have it all, witty banter, steamy af spice, all the troupes you can handle and a shorter length perfect to escape for an afternoon or evening.

Nicky was no different… no one does insta-love like Willow (Miss Thomas if you’re nasty 😛) and this book was still chalk full of backstory, plot, character and world building, and laugh out loud moments. I guarantee you’ll fall in love with the Fallen Gargoyles MC and be just as excited as I am for the next installment coming: Echo.

Nicky finds out the father who never loved him is not his biological father so he heads out to find his real father. Booker is the owner of a tattoo shop whose mom married Nicky's biological father, a president of a motorcycle club . Booker is his stepbrother through marriage, no relation genetically. They have a one night stand without knowing who each other are and fall for each other. I love that Booker is so open about wanting Nicky from the start, telling everyone. My favorite line in the book is "I think we're all a little bit pregnant after watching that," and there were several funny ones. Nicky holds back on his feelings but finally is all in. They are an adorable couple with lots of PDA and I look forward to more stories about the motorcycle club. I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary opinion.

I would describe this as a happy & sweet Motorcycle Club. It’s a fun take on this genre, where the bikers are on a mission to protect the innocent from abusive husbands and the like. And the president is the nicest man alive!

Nicky and Booker spend a solitary night together that leaves them both feeling like they’ve found the one. Until they discover they are stepbrothers!

Bookers a big golden retriever puppy, who’s made it his mission to keep Nicky, not just as his stepbrother, but as his man too.

This is an insta-love novella that’s intriguing enough to see where the rest of the series goes.

Liked it, but...

The premise is interesting, a guy finds out his 'father' is not his biological father and sets out to find him, accidently hooking up with his stepbrother on the way. Cue confused feelings, an unsure younger brother and all happening in a MC club.
I enjoyed the story and how it is developed, I connected to the characters, but I have two points of contention. A small one, more editing is required because there are mistakes in the writing. A bigger one, because I have an issue with the characters' obsession with cum and doing it in different parts of each other's bodies. For a book that's not that long, it's an ever present topic, which led me to not give it 4 stars. Otherwise, quite an enjoyable story and I'm definitely interested in reading the next one.
