Canto's adventure begins!Enslaved for generations, Canto's people once had hearts. Now they have clocks. When slavers damage a little tin girl's clock beyond repair, Canto must brave his strange and fantastic world to bring back her heart. Can he overcome the dangers that await to save the one he loves? An all-ages fable inspired by The Wizard of Oz and Dante's Inferno.Part fantasy. Part adventure. All heart.
I absolutely love and adore the beginning of this graphic novel.
It's a story of love, heart, servitude, overcoming adversity and persevering in a world filled with weird humanoid animal slavers, alien beasts and post apocalyptic geography.
He wasn't supposed to love, or even have a name, but he does and she gave him one so now to save her damaged clock (which the slavers put in to serve in place of the real heart), he needs to go on a quest by braving the hellish terrain and find where her heart lays hidden...
His name is Canto, and all of this marvelous story was compressed in a bite-sized single issue.
It contains exceptional artwork too and I strongly recommend this to comic book enthusiasts. Can't wait to read more of Canto!
I knew this was going to be GOOD the moment I found this comic on my last hunt It started with the finding of "The city of Giants" and just looking at the main character I felt it in my bones I would've loved the series... So I hunted them all within less than 2 weeks while visiting my bestie. I got all of the IDW issues.... BUT N.2 DAMNIT
It's very odd and new to me to read single issues, I'm used to binded volumes and it was a very quick read, but a very sweet, raw introduction to what has had to come. I'm HOOKED I love how dark it is, how it's an homage to Tin Man from Oz (I love The wizard of Oz), love the art and absolutely love the covers Can't wait for more
This one gets a rare five stars from me. I was worried the all-ages rating would make this too kiddy for me, but the writing and art are done with care and the worldbuilding is creative enough that I'm able to overlook some of the more typical elements of a fantasy world, which usually turn me off (I find a lot of fantasy writers are looking to conform to a genre rather than use it in their own way and add anything new, and it gets boring for me). I'm utterly charmed by Canto and will definitely keep this on my pull-list.
Interesante, primero me llamó la atención el dibujo, colorido y con reminiscencias a aquellas series en stop motion o animatrónics. Y me lancé a leerla.
The art is well done and the story is so poignant and compelling. Parts are a bit repetitive at times, but it's an interesting take on the fairy tale genre.
Canto is compelling and sad and wonderful. Really great story with fascinating characters!
