“It’s like Harry Potter for women who like their books spicy!”
My third year at Grimm Academy was supposed to be simple. Get engaged, nail The Games, finally earn some respect. But now there’s this other academy, with their annoying alpha. Why can’t everyone just stop messing with my plans?
Nyx is determined to live a different life.
No frilly dresses, no standing in the background smiling - Anastasya Konstantinova Romanova is going to be a new kind of vampire Princess. Deadly and smart, with her boyfriend Max at her side, nothing can stand in her way.
But her plans get derailed when the Fain Academy visits to participate in an ancient tradition that has not happened ever since the deadly Umbrage, 156 years ago. To make things worse, that hot shifter alpha leading the visiting academy just won’t stop annoying her. And Max is not happy.
And if that weren’t enough, it seems that the Obscura - the mysterious duskenwood box holding the magic of The Games - is being tampered with.
Against her family’s wishes, Nyx starts investigating the Umbrage, The Games, and her own lineage. When people start ending up dead, Nyx realizes this is more than she ever bargained for.
Is Grimm Academy safe? Does her boyfriend, the Prince, relly see their future the way she does? Will she ever be able to gain her family’s respect?
And to make it even harder for Nyx, that shifter guy is starting to mess with her head. His Hotness thinks he's all that.
If you enjoyed Shannon Mayer and Sarah J. Maas, you will find this book unputdownable.

It sounded interesting when I read about it but it was even better than interesting. It was good. The story reminds me a little of Harry Potter when they have the games. There are two schools competing to win. A school of grimms and a school of shifters. The grimms have vampires and such and the shifters aren’t just wolves but all kinds of animals which I loved that little difference. They compete but each game is spaced out so they are there for a year of school. They are supposed to use this time to come closer and keep the peace but as you expect that isn’t at all going to happen. The trials they go through are decided by this box and no one knows what will happen until that box is opened up. No one is allowed to die in the games and gets removed from the game when it becomes too much for them. I find the trials super interesting and the process of individuals making their way through them is fascinating. The characters are also greatly written. The FMC has to figure things out and grow to truly find what she deserves and who she is and what she wants. The love interest is fun and yet so perfect for her especially after everything she deals with before he comes along. I love them. The side characters are good as well and the twist that happens near the end was surprising yet satisfying when everything works out as it should. The plot is great and I feel like you can connect with the two main characters.
I didn’t feel emotionally connected or so drawn in I couldn’t stop reading it. That’s why it’s only a solid 4 star. I really enjoyed this book. Can’t wait to read her other books!
This books has spice, a great story, and a badass FMC. If you have read some of the previous Grimm Academy books this is right up your alley, but with added length! The characters have depth, the world building is wonderful. The story isn't too long, nothing drags on. I didn't want to put this book down because I NEEDED to know how it was going to end(Curse the life of an adult). The story has twists and surprises that I didn't predict. Absolutely love Lyra Forgers Grimm Academy world.
This was a fast-paced book that had so many things I love: School setting ✔ Potentially deadly games ✔ No BS heroine ✔ Who can you trust? ✔ Mystery ✔ Political undercurrents ✔ Fairytale elements ✔
This is about two schools coming together for games, with Nyx's school Grimm Academy hosting. Nyx is in her third year and ready to dominate the games and get engaged to her long-term boyfriend Max. She keeps finding herself drawn to a shifter from the other school, Dahrian, who also can't stay away from her.
I enjoyed both POVs, and Nyx and Dahrian had such distinct voices that I never lost track. The pieces of fairytales woven into the story made it even more interesting, and I loved learning about the world. The school setting made the perfect environment for forced proximity.
Nyx is more than just a vampire princess. She's strong in her own right. Her family dynamics were complex and she just wants HER voice to be heard, not her thoughts filtered through the mouths of the men in her life. She did frustrate me a bit with a certain decision she kept waffling on.
Dahrian is the kind of person I'd hate if he was real. He has a certain arrogance that only works for me with fictional characters. His internal monologue was hilarious, and he cared fiercely for his friends.
The writing was overall good, though it felt repetitive at times. There were certain phrases I noticed that kept popping up ("my eyebrows pulled down," for example) that I couldn't stop noticing after realizing how many times they were used. Other than some repetition, I think that the writing itself was solid.
While obviously the steam and romance were there, House of Lilith was so much more. I'd recommend this for people who want a paranormal romance (obviously), but also for readers who enjoy a "wtf is going wrong and who is responsible" plot, heroines becoming stronger and letting their voice get louder, intrigue and the backroom politics of the wealthy, or just a fun story in general. I think this book has something for everyone, and I intend to go back and read more by this author.
Thank you so much to the author for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.
What a fun installment to the adventures happening at Grimm Academy. This book has been my favorite so far and I found myself going through a full range of emotions.
This entire series is great for someone who is ready to start dipping their toes into dark fantasy romance. I cannot wait to see what is to come in the future.
First time I have liked the prologue! And let’s get this out of the way: this story rocks. Ultimately, it’s a love story between two vastly different people: Nyx and Dahrian. ⁃ Nix is an old-blood duchess from a long line of vampires, attending the academy for the Game of a Century (literally; this game hasn’t occurred in a century!). At first she is the fiancé of a prince, but she is too talented for him. Matter of fact, she is too talented for her brother, who is trying to change his slack-gamer ways. ⁃ Dahrian is the leader of the shifter pack that arrives from their academy, and he finds her slicing-and-dicing sexy. He just cannot seem to keep away:
“And I can’t help thinking, especially considering that “enormous rock on her finger, how the hell did I manage to forget about the fucking fiance?”
---and my other favorite passage: “That’s how it goes. Makes you start wanting. And before you know it, you want even more, a lot more than you could ever get. And that’s when real trouble starts.” Now, that makes him frown. “You sure you’re okay, Boss?”
What elevates this story is a balanced mix of magic, world-building, and characters. I love that Nyx has the overshadowed brother Nickolay who seems competent but gives up competing when she is in the equation. He decides to “save the family” by engaging in a real estate deal, when she is entitled to the land.
Her cousin is the kind of girl who belittles herself and fails to notice anyone interested in her. I know how that feels. I want to know more about her, a sign of a great side character.
Ricky is Dahrian’s fast friend, and he is the sweet bestie you could want, yet he is mysteriously plotting like a fairy godfather.
Her fiancé Max, one of the princes, is a manipulative, controlling master. Nyx constantly second-guesses her decisions with him, and it is horrifying. He seems so nice up front, until I realize just how contrived his words are! He and Nyx’s mom tell her “good girl” like they are training a puppy.
The magic system is not described in detail, but there are magical objects that define the game parameters, and supposedly the students won’t die, but harm is on the table. Plus, there are built-in powers like mind control, mind reading, blood bonding.
The world is centered around an academy, but the pack is from another realm, if I read this correctly. It’s very familiar and yet fantastical. The castle of Lilith has a mind of its own, and intruders become lost. It’s the castle of in-between and never-here.

***ARC REVIEW*** Name: House of Lilith Author: Lyra Forger Rate: 4.25/5🌟
~This is the first time I've ARC reviewed for Lyra Forger and let me say that this book was good. I enjoyed reading about vampires, fae, shape shifters and magical runes. So if you enjoy Sarah J Mass and Shannon Mayer you will find this book interesting. Also for my Harry Potter fans out there…this book has the vibes just with a bit of spice for us adults! Now unfortunately for me this book took me a bit to understand what was going on, but once I continued to read I understood where the storyline was going. I was a bit worried that this was due to me not reading the other two books so I had stopped and went to read the other two to realize that they are all standalone novels, but they are all connected since they are houses from the Grimm Academy. ~House of Lilith is focusing on Nyx FMC, she is ready to knock out this New Year after attending three years at the Grimm Academy! But things take a turn on her simple wonderful world that she has built. She then later becomes a bit rebelled... What will make her do this after everything was perfect for her?? A new house has joined the Grimm Academy ground with a new Alpha. Once the games started between the houses, weird things started to happen with the magic that they started to question the new house and its students. But who is the real corporate here??? Got to read it to find out!!!! The plot itself is very good that once you read the book and understand what is going on you will not want to put the book down till you are done!!!!
I highly enjoyed this book! It is a stand-alone within the series, so dont panic like I did!
So this book is about two schools competing in games for a whole year. This hasn't happened in over 100 years as the last game was tampered with. Now, hopes are up that the two schools can get along and that this game will go with no issues. But things start to happen, and questions start to pop up.
We follow Nyx, our FMC, who is a vampire from the Grimm school. We also follow Dahrian, our MMC, who is a shifter from the other school. These two have a lot of banter between each other. We have some other people constantly within the book like Max, Nikolay, Hilde, and Ricky, which we get to see their character development and relationships with everyone else.
This book was interesting with the concept of the shifters. As well as the magic the vampires even have. The trials these kids go through are interesting and change, so no one knows what to expect. The one thing they do know is that no one can die. You get removed from the game before to serious of injuries happens.
I enjoyed the plot twists we got within the book and how everything felt so well written! Even though we dont see the world outside of the school, we still get good descriptions of what's happening and the areas they are in. We also get some history on both our main characters, which made it so interesting! I loved the ending and just how satifying it all was to read!
This is my honest opinion. Thank you so much for this ARC!
"My third year at Grimm Academy was supposed to be simple. Get engaged, nail The Games, finally earn some respect. But now there's this other academy, with their annoying alpha. Why can't everyone just stop messing with my plans?"
We join Nyx at Grimm Academy for her third year along with her brother, Nikolay, and her cousin, Hilde. Nyx is working through identifying herself, her future, and her worth. One hundred and fifty-six years after The Games of 1860, Grimm Academy and Fiain Academy join their two academic families for a year of strengthening their magic through cooperation and reviving The Games. Will history repeat itself? Nyx works to solve a murder, avoid the Fiain Academy Alpha (His Hotness), and make a future for herself, all the while participating in The Games herself.
Lyra really brought her game on this one. I honestly loved this book. It felt very genuine in the portrayal of emotional manipulations and the mind f*ck that they can be. I experienced all of Nyx's emotions right alongside her and couldn't help but become immersed in the story. I finished this book in less than 24 hours purely out of obsession and need.
I loved this book! As I was reading I was going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. Sometimes the writing was amazing, but other times there were gaps that left me confused. The time jumps are confusing and even though you are getting 2 POVs you miss some detail in those jumps that leave you confused. Also the blocking in the scenes is confusing, and no matter how many times I read the scene I have no idea who is saying what to who or where they are in the room. But the story itself is great. The characters are great and well thought out. I was kinda on team great great grandmother, anti boys go live ur life girl, so I was kinda disappointed when she immediately got back together with Dahrian. Plus i am still mad that he said mean things to her and was easily forgiven. Like why she have to choose between two guys that suck? But alas my book boyfriend standards might be too high. Great book! I am just worried that if I read the other books in the series it will be the same story and plot but different names.

Review
This is book 3 in The Originals of Grimm Academy series. I will absolutely be going back and reading the rest of the series.
I really enjoyed the Grimm Academy world, and the idea behind the three different houses.
I would say that for those that liked Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire and Hunger Games, you might also like this one as it has similarities with the games.
*I received this as an ARC, and I am leaving an honest and voluntary review*
I absolutely loved House of Lycan so I was absolutely excited to read this book. The world building was amazing. It wasn’t too much but it wasn’t too little either. The plot kept me reeled in and wanting to know more as I was unable to put the book down. I loved getting to know the characters and seeing the dynamic between Nyx and Dahrian. It was unusual to see the woman in the book being the grumpy one and the guy being the sunshine one. I personally haven’t read that many Grumpy x Sunshine books like that. Lyra wrote the characters so beautifully and accurately. I love how she doesn’t make her characters ‘perfect’ by giving them flaws and perfectly demonstrates how these characters feel about them throughout the book without being too repetitive.
Some tropes involved: - Grumpy x sunshine - Enemies with Benefits - Dual POV
Received as an ARC, I am leaving my honest review. This story really spoke to my heart. A princess that is not cut from the same characters as the others. Strong, determined, witty, with a dash of tomboy, she is a force to be reckoned with when her mind is set. A top player at the Games, a detective behind closed doors, she has all the characteristics of being an outstanding Queen. But romantic thoughts send her sideways, when an Alpha from the opposing team catches her eye. The stakes are high as she takes on a personal battle that ends up being an incredible journey. Action packed with emotional turmoil and nail biting scenarios will keep your attention from the first page to the last. Magic is in the air, while mystery keeps you turning the pages. The more you read, the harder it becomes to leave the story.
This is the first book I have ever stopped reading and decided to just quit instead of forcing myself to finish it… I really wanted to like this book and had high hopes.. I signed up to be an Arc reader and received the book as soon as it came out and started reading it asap.
I’m so sorry to the author but I just could not continue and finish it. First , the enemies to lovers… felt really forced in the beginning and one sided… the world building wasn’t the best , Nyx was not the strong female lead I thought she’d be , the spice was barely there(which is fine but I’ve seen a lot of ppl saying there’s a lot and there really isn’t) , and it felt like this tried to be too many things at once… Maybe it’s because this was the first , and only book , I’ve read by Lyra but I didn’t like the writing style at all.
Ok this book was good. So much better than the first two! Honestly, loved most of everything about this book. The writing did get repetitive and it made the book drag big time. But, the characters and the romance made up for it. I absolutely love love love Nyx. She may be a vampire princess but she's so much more. She has such strength. Her family dynamic was so complex. I was so tired of her voice being drowned out. She eventually stood up and made sure she was heard. She's a princess after all. Dharian was so arrogant, but his pov is the reason I fell for him. He's witty and truly cares about those closest to him. The plot was easy to follow along with but it still had the mystery and tension behind it. I wanted to keep reading to figure out who was responsible and how it was all going to work out. Step up from the other two by far!
This book is what great fairy tales are made of. Reminiscent of Harry Potter featuring young adults from two schools attending a magical Grimm Academy with a strong and smart MMC and FMC who must choose between two loves. Anastasya (aka Nyx) finds her strength in a man’s world along the way and learns to stand up for herself and demand respect, especially with Max, a royal prince, and her fiancé. However, there is a new alpha shifter Dahrian attending the academy and the electricity between them is off the charts. There is something in the book for everyone to include shifters, fae, vampires and royalty with a political undercurrent all in an ancient magical setting.
I received a free advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
We are introduced to Anystasia/Nyx and her intended, Max. And the excitement of The Games being reinstituted.
And then we see the whole story through Dahrian's, the alpha of the opposition, eyes as well.
Is all as it appears to be? Or is someone or something out to destroy the contests? And, if so, who?
It's hard to tell the story without spoilers so I'll tell you to read the book yourself. I read this book in a few sittings but I would not say it's like JK Rowling's or Suzanna Collins's work. It stands on it's own as a dark fantasy. In my opinion, it's too long and somewhat hard to follow at times. And the main characters are walking around with a lot of anger. 3/5
[ Disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily read and reviewed it]
House of Lilith, although a paranormal romance, has our heroine dealing with some very real issues and subjects. As a woman who has finally taken back my power, this story was at times hard to read. I so desperately wanted Nyx to kick Max to the curb but she kept making herself small to please him and everyone around her. Although Dahrian sees through all this, and the attraction between him and Nyx is electric, he keeps himself closed off and shares nothing of himself; making for a very rough road ahead. A well written story with an intriguing plot and interesting characters, this novel kept me totally engrossed from beginning to end. I hope there are more stories to come in this world!
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I love Grimm Academy. It never seems to disappoint on action, reveals, love and, especially in this one, hate for the characters involved! The installment follows a less than confident FMC through her year at Grimm Academy. She is dating a Prince, on the path to being engaged, and has all she could ask for. Then, students from another academy show up, and everything changes. For better and worse!
Spice: 🌶🌶🌶 Perfect amount of spice with an FMC that is not your typical book girl. I liked seeing something so common represented. (Won't spoil.)
The story is great in the way it makes you actually root for and curse characters. It is duel POV so you catch the story from both angles which leaves a lot of room for second string character building as well. The only gripe I would have is the over use of a couple phrases in the writing. Otherwise, solid 4 star book!
🌶🌶🌶 The story starts on the eve of the Games, a tournament held between two rival Academies: Grimm and Fiáin. While Fiáin seems to house exclusively shifters of any kind, Grimm is home to shifters, fae, and vampires.
This is a magical academia rivals to lovers' story, with the tournament as a backdrop. Their are people dying- which is not supposed to happen, and Nyx seems to be the only one who's a little bit curious who might be behind all this. I enjoyed the challenges that the characters had to go through in this story while participating in the tournament. Those felt original.
I couldn’t get enough of this book!! And this series 😍 Reminds me of Harry Potter and the goblet of fire and I soaked up every detail. Highly highly recommend this! This is favorite of the series!! It had mystery, twists, spice 🌶️, and humor! I felt so immersed in the story and the characters!! The FMC is an admirable young woman who lives her life under the emotional abuse and scrutiny of not only her family but of her boyfriend! yet she’s so strong in many of her own ways and the journey of her growth through this story is empowering! I love the everything about the MMC as well!😍🙈👏🏼 Every character has their own unique qualities which makes you love or hate them but in an amazing way!😍
Really fun read. Fabulous world building and interesting storyline. The spicy was spicy but it also fit so well with story and inhanced the character development. The main character Nyx is my favorite type of main character. Strong female who hasn’t yet fully recognized her strength. She is so relatable. Her struggle and growth are believable and you really root for her to become who she wants to be NOT what everyone else tells her to be. I can’t wait for another chance to explore the world of the Grimm Academy and the Originals. Highly recommend to readers who enjoy a strong female character with personal growth, adventure and excitement with the perfect amount of Spice mixed in!
I already read the first two books of Grimm Academie and liked them so much, but this one… it was even better than I was expecting. And boy did I loved the first one !
So Lyra did it again, another amazing story, with incredible characters. What’s even better is that it’s a thicker book. So the world building is so great and the characters development is so good !
I loved Nyx and Dahrian so much !
It’s a just perfectly spicy book.
I highly recommend it if you like: 🔸 Shifters, vampires & faes 🔸 Academies rivals 🔸 Steamy books with a good plot 🔸 Protective MMC
Nyx in her third year at Grimm Academy gets her world spun. Max the prince has his future mapped out. Fir the first time in over 150 year the games are on. What happens when Nyx and Max meet Alpha Dahrian? Well I will tell you this you have no idea! This story is insane, it flips on its on axis so many times you won't put it down! I couldn't get enough and the final twist is so crazy I didn't see it coming, the ending is beyond fantastic. It's definitely a book worth your time!
WOW this was a great book. Loved it! House of Lilith is a mind blowing page turner and suspense was dark but a paranormal thriller. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t even imagine put it down. It has twists and turns with these characters at the Academy. Nyx was from Grimm Academy this was her third year at this school. Will Nyx and Max might have a thing going on. It was totally wild and crazy. I received ARC of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion. Trina Jones
Third book from the Grimm Academy series from @lyra.forger
☆ Strong female protagonist ☆Enemies with benefits ☆🔥❤️🔥🔥 MMC ☆ Dual POV ☆ Touch her and d!e ☆ Dark fairytale world ☆ Spice 🌶🔥
Reading both House of Ydril and House of Lycan before this book would definitely enhance the enjoyment of the narrative and plot. Honestly this is my favourite book of the series so far, exemplary writing and growth from the author. Fully immersed in the story, both main characters and the world building - especially the games!
A huge thank you to Lyra Forger for an e-ARC! I absolutely LOVED this book! I need my paranormal and fantasy books to really immerse me in the storyline and that's exactly what the House of Lilith did. When I first initially started reading, I thought it was like a more mature version of the triwizard tournament in Harry Potter - but it evolved into so much more! I couldn't get enough of Dahrian and Nyx. The plot twist at the end was so unsuspecting - you will be on the edge of your seat at its reveal!
I was lucky enough to get this as a ARC, I’ve loved the other grim academy books and this one did not disappoint! The characters were very well done and the FMC is a badass that realises she doesn’t need to take any crap. Thank god! lol
Liked the fact that Nyx wasn’t that perfect female character who all the men love. She was very relatable and the guys were very well fleshed out. The games were interesting and the twists and turns kept me hooked. If your a fan of will they won’t they, spice and a hunger games vibe this is the book for you!
Intriguing, fun and mysterious dark paranormal romance with 2 opposing houses competing in a goblet of fire style tournament with the shifters Vs the vampires. There's also a forbidden romance/ love triangle scenario, as Nyx is betrothed to a Prince, but a certain Alpha throws a spanner in the works. There's great worldbuilding, fairytale aspects, action, adventure, romance, spice, and lots of drama, mystery and twists. A great read with high stakes and a little bit of everything. Can be read as part of the series or as a standalone.
4.75⭐ I enjoyed the pacing, plot, and characters in this story. Dahrian and Nyx had really good chemistry, and their story was very likable. I appreciated the pronunciation guide at the very beginning too, it helped me figure out how some of the words/names (for example Ydril, I really REALLY appreciated knowing how to actually pronounce that word!) I liked that we also knew whose POV we were reading because it is clearly stated at the beginning of each chapter.
All in all, this was a very enjoyable book! Also like the hardcover edition is gorgeous!!
