I almost never recommend things to friends, specially through online systems like this

But this one, I will.
My work life means that I am sometimes seen as someone who had set least some of the answers to the questions that this book answers.
When asked these, I am always non-committal at best, evasive at worst.
If someone acts on my (free, offhand, and casual ..) advice, and then gets themselves in trouble, or have problems instigating the change... I am at least some way responsible for their situation.
And try telling a friend, okay if you are going to be a client, are these rates and retainer fees acceptable, and do you also agree to .. (I hope a straightforward) EULA.
So I change the subject, as it's too complex, not that interesting, and they aren't going to follow it anyway.
This book is perfect!
I will direct them all here, and I might even have a social life again.
Wow!
((Please note; some of the above did contain sarcasm. You need the right attitude to live with this stuff, that helps, and . .) Also explained in Naomi's brilliant book.
Rem acu tetigisti Naomi!

A basic overview of privacy

This is not the book you are looking for if you are looking for a complete privacy system. This gives a very basic overview of some of the considerations for a complete beginner to start them on their journey.

Good information well explained

I am older and have made an effort since my first HP PC, with a massive 520 "Mb" hard drive, to be aware and practice online security. It is harder and harder to stay on top of security. So many great tools are made available, then they are sold to less scrupulous companies or not maintained properly. There are several examples in this book. I have used many that didn't practice even basic IT security (looking' at you LastPass). Naomi is right, it never gets easier. This book was a good refresher that I am on the right track and gave me new issues to consider. Thanks.

There are several reasons to have digital privacy. It may be to gain the freedom away from targeted advertising. Naomi walks through some basic tools one can use to avoid data leakage so often exploited by marketers. The range of solutions range from simple google alternatives (with great UI BTW) to more complex ones for those technically inclined.
