Say Goodbye To Illness

Rate this book
In this 3rd edition of Say Good-bye to Illness, Dr. Nambudripad, the developer of Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques (NAET®), exposes the truth behind the many health problems plaguing people today. In her book, Dr. Nambudripad gives a new definition for allergies and a deeper understanding of how our bodies relate to or retreat from the millions of natural and artificial substances around us.

Patients are encouraged to read "Say good-bye To Illness” prior to starting NAET® treatments with their practitioner. This book will give you some understanding about allergies, allergy related diseases, and how a non-invasive, easy to follow, holistic treatment can give you freedom to live comfortably again. Many case histories of managing various health problems are given in this book. Young infants from day five to older patients as old as 94 have been treated with NAET® with excellent results. Many so-called incurable problems have been traced to food or environmental allergies and treated with great success.

She shares the amazing story of her personal struggle to free herself from lifelong allergies and also explains the theoretical basis for her technique. The book provides hundreds of true testimonials and fascinating case histories of patients who have been treated successfully with NAET® for various allergy-based health disorders and living normally now.

Say Good-bye to illness is recommended reading for anyone who gets frequent acute health problems as well as who suffer from chronic health disorders. Dr. Nambudripad has helped thousands of people with multiple health problems by tracking down and reversing their allergies using NAET® techniques. She has trained over 9,000 practitioners all over the world so that people who suffer from allergies can find help in their local area. Her book is thoroughly researched and supported by many double blind studies

(JNECM, 2005, 2006, 2007). It is also supported by testimonials from practitioners, as well as success stories from hundreds of patients who have suffered and now live allergy free.

I do not know where to begin ... My wife suffered for years from degenerative neuropathy of her feet that was slowly crippling her. Visits to neurologists only led to medication upon medication, none of which seemed to help. A co-worker noticed her difficulty and suggested NAET (Nambudripad Allergies Elimination Technique)that she herself was undergoing at a local chiropractor. After one year of weekly treatment, the pain and paralysis are actually "retreating"! At weddings and parties, she has become a regular "dancing fool," which was impossible before because she could barely walk across a room. My wife suggested I try in, and skeptical as I was, I did. Well, within one month I was "cleared" of the lactose intolerance and wheat sensitivity that had messed up my digestion who decades.

Dr. Nambudripad developed this unorthodox protocol for "clearing" a body of sensitivities using her knowledge of Indian ayurvedic medicine, Chinese acupuncture, and alopathic medicine. Reading her book, one reads of "cures" for many unlikely conditions, and if I personally had not experienced it myself, I would remain a disbeliever.

This protocol does not promise overnight instantaneous results, so patience is required. But I have seen it work. My own personal physician agrees that the disappearance of my lactose intolerance is something he cannot explained, saying further it cannot be as simple as mind over matter.

If you want more info, send me a message. I'll reply.

Oh, there are many "practitioners" out there claiming to do what Dr. N. does. But I would only use one who was trained and certified by Dr. N.

This book could be a lot more concise and accessible to those without health or medical knowledge. I can’t rate this too poorly, although it could use some improvements, purely because of the subject matter. I can say without a doubt that NAET has saved my life, but I feel obligated to include that it is not without a lot of sacrifice. It requires you to sacrifice your lifestyle, your likely misguided view of health, your time, your energy, and your money. And no, you can’t adequately receive the benefits just from reading this book. You need to get treatment. QUALITY treatment. At least for me, nothing about this process has been easy, but I was also quite literally on the verge of complete physical and mental collapse when this came into my life. If you’re willing to do anything and everything for your health, this is for you. It works, it’s real. It will give you a life you never thought was possible, but full commitment is a requirement.

As for my criticisms, this is a real slog to get through. The essential information is woven in between an unnecessary amount of testimonials and examples that become redundant. There are also some typos and repeated information. A book like this already inspires a lot of doubt and the way it’s presented doesn’t help despite the almost excessive amount of scientific explanation. And as much as I can vouch for its validity, I’d argue the book’s general attitude that “most problems are actually allergies” would be better reframed as “many problems CAN be allergies”. This distinction would be most helpful when discussing how people can be allergic to other people. Yes, I’m sure people are having allergic reactions to each other, but as the book touches on, allergies can be caused by traumatic or negative experiences, so why not give ample room for the reality that negative reactions can predate allergies and even be independent of them? Even though the first edition of this book was published in the 90s, this is still a very radical concept that I believe a majority of the population won’t accept for a long time, if ever, so pushing the concepts of physical and mental illness even further just feels… overly ambitious and unwise, even if there’s truth to it.

Overall, my gratitude for Dr. Nambudripad’s revolutionary treatment methods is beyond words, but this book is still poorly constructed and that’s pretty frustrating, especially for readers that will be referring back it frequently.

I can see from the testimonials preceding the text that the book deals with an “amazingly effective treatment technique”, NAET, which can be used to eliminate allergies. There are innumerable testimonials to the treatment’s efficacy.

So, if you live in the USA and have access to, and can afford, a practitioner who uses this technique, I would think it advisable to consult that person. (And there may be other countries, of course, where one can find NAET practitioners.)

I live in Denmark and cannot find anyone offering the technique in question.

I had hoped and for some reason understood that the ordinary person/patient/sufferer would be able to use the technique him- or herself, but can now understand that this is not the case.

I just couldn’t get far enough in the book to find out what it really was all about and whether one could do anything oneself.

It was not at all an easy read.

When glancing through the book, I found mention of “muscle response testing”, and this is something that I have previously attempted to do with no success; at least, I could do it, but I could not trust the results – sometimes they were correct, sometimes incorrect. So this was apparently one part of the treatment that I couldn’t do. And then there was also acupuncture, which requires training.

I do understand that, if I had been able to learn how to do the treatment, there would have been a large number of symptoms and diseases caused by allergies that I could have treated. These included emotional allergies, such as thoughts or feelings such as “I can never get healthy” or “I can never lose weight”. (Not that I need to lose weight, since I have the opposite problem, if any.)

The treatment seems to be exceedingly complicated.

I would recommend the book if you have access to, and can afford, an NAET practitioner, and wish to learn more about the treatment.

The reason I read this book is that in 1997 or '98, I think, I took the Veterinary NAET course, which is supposedly based on Dr. Nambudripad's work with people. I got the book but hadn't read it until now. The class was poorly taught and I never use the technique, because I never figured it out.
Apparently there's a lot more to this technique than was presented in the Veterinary NAET class, which is but a pale shadow of what Dr. Nambudripad intended.
The parts that I wonder about (besides the incomplete sentences, lack of spellcheck or proofreading, and general wordiness) are the proud annoucements that now, after treatment, Patient X can consume as much artificial sweetener as he wants, and is no longer allergic to it! And Patient Y can now drink soda all day and is no longer allergic to it! Yay! Is that really the intended outcome, that now you can poison yourself with impugnity?

I was introduced to this book by my chiropractor. She wanted me to consider the Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET) to help with some symptoms I have been dealing with. The book does a great job of explaining how this technique works and it's filled with plenty of anecdotal evidence of the efficacy of the treatment. I couldn't find much on clinical trials in the university library database, however. I skimmed through much of the book as many of the sections didn't apply to me (e.g. skin problems, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis). I found a few typos and formatting errors which should have been caught as this was the third edition. It certainly made me curious about the NAET to help with some of my problems. A bit repetitive but overall a good overview of the technique to eliminate allergies naturally. It almost has me convinced.

Say Goodbye to Illness by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad explains the process of how she came up with the NAET (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Treatment) method to heal the body from allergies of all kinds. This includes allergies to nature, food, chemicals, the environment and more. Dr. Nampudripad is an M.D., a Chiropractor, a Naturopath, and an Acupuncturist.

This book has been highly impactful in my life as I have many of the above-mentioned allergies and this method has worked for me. The writing style is easy to read although it definitely needed one more edit and another proofread for grammatical errors. The point of the book still comes across and the information you get is priceless.

The amount of research she has done before writing this book and since then as this book came out in 1993 and I read it in 2024, the information still holds true. I found that I was allergic to Vitamin B Complex which explains why I am allergic to foods high in that vitamin. After being treated for it, I can now eat many of these foods again. I cannot recommend this book and NAET enough!

Very good information but very cyclic and repetitive. The examples/stories are AMAZING and give so much hope for chronic illness and emotional imbalances.

Lots of information, I literally marked this book up with my pen! Hoping to find a local practitioner with reasonable fees to see if it works for me like the incredible testimonials in the book.

The concepts make sense, but it is hard to accept credibility due to the many grammatical and spelling errors throughout. Also, almost half of the book is testimonials.

What's eating you, or better yet what is eating at you. We are all dealing with emotional, physical and environmental forces working a number on our sensitive biological systems. We jam so much down our throats on a daily basis, racking up years of toxins and stress, we stuff it down into the darkest depths of our inaccessible beings and then we either implode or explode, whichever comes first. Either way, sickness sets up in a weakened immune system, one plagued by years of abuse. Abuse coming in many forms, shapes, sizes and colors. Most of the time we can deal with these emotional overloads, but there are times when it can become all to much for us to handle and our system shuts down. Allergies set up, chronic and left alone, they become lethal and sickness, disease, disorder and other maladies set in. This book teaches us to look beyond the obvious, take a deeper look at where our discomfort stems from; it is not always what or where you think. I love the idea that our past hurts, traumas, tragedies, accidents and betrayals, can become our emotional breakdown and then break through to healing. We are what we eat, for sure. But we are also what we endure, take on and stuff down. Healing comes when we open up the channels for our natural energies to surge through, unimpeded, unencumbered. We learn to open meridians, chakras and channels, to release pent up negative energy, which becomes its own forcefield and can even attack us when we are not looking. This special ancient technique of channeling energy is as old as the hills, we must get back to Eastern Modalities of treatment. I am surging ahead with healing and have had a wonderful experience with just one NAET treatment and will continue to seek this form of therapy. Life is wonderful and this book gave me just a little bit more hope for a very healthy and bright future. Thank you, Dr. Devi. I recommend this book to anyone suffering from allergies and emotional, and physical blockages, it gives real pause and eye-opening insight for all.

Rating this book is difficult. If it really works it would be a five, if not and it really is voodoo--clearly it may get at least a one for entertainment value.

It is an interesting theory and Dr. Devi backs up all of her research with case studies and medical knowledge. I like that she is and M.D., a chiropractor, a naturepath, and an acupuncturist, it gives a little more credit to her theory. It makes a lot of sense but then there is the too good to be true aspect. In a desperate attempt to get rid of eczema I developed after my 2nd baby I am going to give it a go. I guess time will only tell if it is really allergy elimination or "voodoo" from someone trying to make money.

In the meantime, suffer from:
headaches...could be a food allergy
addictions/cravings...could be a b vitamin allergy
atherosclerosis...could be a vitamin E or calcium allergy
skin problems...could be a food, environmental, or vitamin allergy
infertility...could be an allergy (I'll leave out what it is)
behavior problems...could be a food allergy
and on and on...

Dr. Devi always treats for the basic 15 including (among other things): calcium, egg mix, vitamin C, minerals, sugar, B complex, grasses, iron, etc. The amazing thing is that she claims to not only identify the allergen, but also claims to eliminate it.

A friend of my sister actually went through this therapy for his terrible allergies and today he is completely allergy free. This book starts out a little technical at first as it was first written as her thesis, but this is the fastest I have ever read through a medical book.

Dr. Nambudripad has done a lot of research to support her theory that over 90% of today's illnesses arise from some form of allergy. Autism to arthritis to nausea to migraines, etc have been eliminated or reduced from this therapy which includes kinesiology and acupressure.

I have not been a great supporter of "alternative medicine", and if I hadn't talked to someone who went through it, I might feel the same way. We have an appointment for a very sick boy in a week with an NAET practitioner and we are very hopeful that things may turn around.

Another good reference book for health issues. Based on expanded healing and acupunture and Chinese medicine techniques.

If you have allergies to anything known, and even for unknown issues yet identified, finding an acuputurist who uses the NAET technique would be helpful. I had no idea one could be allergic to nylon or cotton, for instance. I wish there was a practicioner in my area.

A complete description of the NAET method, which in itself I have found to be a great alternative treatment for allergies and illnesses. The book itself focuses a lot on patient experiences so it tends to get rather boring really fast, but since those accounts can help oneself with our illnesses I wouldn't hold this too much against the book.

In all I got great insight from this book into my illnesses and helped me regain my health.

I didn't have time to read every word of this, since I had to turn it back in to the library before we moved, but it was definitely educational. If you read my kitchen blog, you know that I've posted about the topic of NAET and some things I learned from this book. It's definitely on my to-do list to try when I can.

Kind of hard to believe in places, but it was recommended by a friend and I have had acupuncture and that worked. There are so many things that Western medicine has no answer to and even if only half the book is true, Western medicine has no reason to promote it because they would lose to much money.

Reading this definitely helped me understand the NAET treatments I'm receiving more fully. I really like that it includes case studies from real patients to help you see all the possibilities of treatment. However, there is a lot of dull, scientific talk and I found the book extremely difficult to get through.

My former relief society president is doing NAET. It's very interesting. Many health problems (headaches, stomach stuff, skin problems, etc...) are cause by allergies. Apparently this sounds a little kooky at first but works wonders.

I feel kind of like I've been to a practicum class after reading that many cases of NAET helping people. I am very intrigued by the concept and I feel like she does a pretty good job of explaining how allergies can be caused by energy blockages.

Not a book to sit and read through. I just read bits and pieces for what I thought was relevant to me. It really is more of a work in progress and more of a reference book than a reading book.
