Personal Response:
I thought this was a great book because it tells you about how Michael Jordan became famous and became an inspiration to people. This book tells you about how he had gotten scoring records, how many MVP awards he was given. The book also tells you about his individual and team accomplishments when he was with the Chicago Bulls and the Washington Wizards. This book also goes back to when he quit basketball and player baseball for a couple of years. Then rejoining basketball with the Wizards.

Plot Summary:
This book gave many details about Michael Jordan being literally one of the best athletes ever. He had a 3-peat with the Chicago Bulls, and had won the finals 3 years in a row with the Bulls. He had had a lot of buzzer-beater shots throughout his college and NBA career. He later then went off to play baseball. I don't remember what team he played for, but he was an inspiration to those who love baseball. He later then went back to the NBA, and played with the Washington Wizards. He led the Wizards to a 3-peat also, he had also gotten defensive player awards, and 3 more MVP finals awards, then that was the end of his NBA career.

Recommendation:
I will recommend this book for any age group of kids who love reading about sports. Someone who loves stories about how someone became an inspiration to those who love the games of baseball and basketball. If someone wants to learn stats and records about Jordan, I strongly suggest this book.

An excellent biography about one of the greatest athletes of the 20th Century. An enjoyable journey in the life of Michael Jeffery Jordan. The pictures and narrative take you on a journey of his life from his childhood until he retired from the NBA.

'I've failed and that is why I suceed.' This is the line from page 43 of the book that i constantly preach to my son ,and is a good lesson for all kids, regardless if they are playing sports or not. When a child sees how even the greatest basketball player in the world was cut from his high school basketball team, played minor league baseball, that he was not that good at,and yet still had the most incredible career of any player in the game of basketball, they can be inspired to dare to dream. This is why I really like this book.

My classroom connection is for the students to list the goals or things in life they want to do and tell why they want to do them. Then I will have them list the things in life they are afraid to do and we will discuss why.

The interest level grade for this book in Grade 3. Grade equivalent is 3.2. I would give it a Lexile 790 because 790 is the end of the range for Lexile Ranges aligned to CCR expectations.
