Wow. Hard to believe the same person wrote 419. Really incredible. Quirky, crazy book which reminded me at times of A Confederacy of Dunces. Thoroughly enjoyed. 4.5 stars.

This book actually had a lot of emotion and meaning in it. At first I thought it was gonna be like that radio drama thing in Canadian Pie where the entire book would consist of only humor, but no, it had a lot of heart. The characters felt very real and I really liked the ending.

The humor is enjoyable, just not laugh out loud funny for me. However there are times that I did laugh. I feel like the humor here is similar to how people would react to the humor in Nacho Libre. You either find the humor funny or a little off putting.
I find it's good to enjoy humor even if you don't find it funny, and maybe a joke might get you here and there.

This book was incredibly wordy and at times difficult to follow. In general it was ok but there were also times I felt like the author was trying to use as many big, fancy words as possible. It was also mildly annoying that the book took place in the US but used the “ou” spellings of words such as “colour”.

Hated the main character, yet I laughed, I scoffed, I loved other characters & had moments of weakness with the main one, and I couldn’t put the book down. Takes a lot of talent to do that as a writer.

Really liked it, except the end. So much anticipation on how all of it will go and end and then it’s all concluded in a few pages in a way that felt rushed and not well thought through. But until then I really enjoyed the book 👌

So very funny with a protagonist you despise and come to root for at the same time. Definitely some My Search for Warren Harding vibes.

Great funny fiction. Satire about self-help books
