Limited 1 for 10 Retailer Incentive Variant Cover by Kris Anka. Three brand new Spiders get their start here! A not-so-mild mannered fashion designer at Van Dyne gets spider-powers and shows us a very different kind of Spider-Slayer. Imagine a world where Sergei Kravinoff got Spider-Powers. You are not ready for the most hardcore Spider yet! Both of these and Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, the filmmakers behind the Spider-Verse movies, create a new Spider just in time for the END OF THE SPIDER-VERSE!
Honestly, I'm ready to be done with these idiotic side character stories and just get into an actual story.
This gay rep is the most ridiculously stereotyped crap I've ever read, but maybe people looking for that rep will appreciate it? I found it a bit over the top but I'm a cis female so I got no clue if this is what the people want.
Artwork was easy enough to follow but these three stories reminded me why I'm kinda over this series. I'll give the follow-up Spider-Man a go, but I'm going in with serious expectations for it to justify the ridiculousness of this five-issue prequel. If it doesn't, I'm done.
Lotta hate right here considering some of the stories across the series weren't bad. But this was possibly the worst of the bunch.
It always upset me that there never has been a queer spider-man. There is literally everything else, Miles Morales, Spider-woman, Peni Parker, – even a spider-pig. I have to say this isn’t exactly what I have always imagined but Web-Weaver really works for me. Love that he is a fashion designer. Can't wait to see more of him.
A decent issue to finish off the Edge of Spider-Verse series.
Hunter-Spider is very powerful. He seems to be one of the strongest Spidey characters that I have seen so far. Able to beat and enemy with ease. He will be a huge asset to the team.
Web-Weaver had such a unique story. With the premise based around fashion. It is cool to see a hero that could potentially give the other Spider-Verse characters a new look.
Syllie Spider was an interesting story. It was cool to see the art in a black and white newspaperish style.
Overall I think it was great. The underlying story is still to be completed. This series was mainly about origin stories more so than an actual main plot. The actual story will continue in the new Spider-man ongoing series.
The whole point of this was what exactly? Oh yeah, to sell you five issues of nonsense BEFORE you have to buy (yet another) renumbered Spider-Man title to actually get the real story this mini-series was teasing.
The last one was really weird? As for Web-Weaver, it's like someone researched gay slang on the internet and used as many as they could. Still better than no representation at all.
The first two stories were pretty enjoyable and fun. The last story did nothing for me. I'm ready to see all this take a more concrete form and narrative.
