All the Blood Spilt is a riveting continuation of the saga

The second installment of A.M. Dunnewin’s All the Dark Souls trilogy, All the Blood Spilt, is a gripping continuation of the story that has me completely captivated. This chapter continues where the last one left off, throwing me into a turbulent adventure where peril looms around every corner and trust is a scarce resource.

All the Blood Spilt | ARC Review

All the Blood Spilt ♦ A.M. Dunnewin | An ARC Review

Opinion
The fearless executioner Joss and her steadfast assistant Henrik are now on the run, their destiny linked to that of the Prince Royal Callan Ronan, whom they heroically saved from the jaws of death. Their escape from danger is a terrifying journey that puts their bravery and commitment to the test. They must navigate a treacherous landscape of foes and unforeseen difficulties, as betrayal is always lurking around every corner.

The characters in All the Blood Spilt have a compelling development that makes it stand out. Joss, Henrik, and their mysterious assassin Aric, who is always on the lookout for trouble, create an unshakable relationship through hardship despite the constant threat that hangs over them. In a world of darkness, when alliances are brittle and trust is a luxury they cannot afford, their friendship serves as a light of hope.

Dunnewin’s masterful storytelling delves even deeper into the psyche of each character, unraveling layers of complexity that add depth and nuance to an already rich tapestry. The growth I witnessed in the first installment blossoms into full bloom here, as each member of this motley crew confronts their demons and grapples with their past.

The mystery surrounding the prince’s real enemy hangs large amid the mayhem and confusion, throwing a dark veil over their pursuit of the truth and atonement. But when alliances are put to the test and secrets are revealed, the group starts to peel back the layers of deceit that trap them, getting closer to the core of the plot that threatens to tear their world apart.

Dunnewin’s world-building is nothing short of extraordinary; it gives the story a tangible sense of hopelessness and dread. Every element, from the gloomy lanes of the towns to the barren stretches of the wilderness, has been painstakingly created to transport the reader to a world that is on the brink of oblivion.

And let us not overlook Dunnewin’s prose in All the Blood Spilt, which is nothing short of magnificent. Her words dance over the page, creating a mesmerizing story that captivates the reader and refuses to let go. With each turn of the page, I was enthralled by her poetic words and rich picture.

In conclusion, All the Blood Spilt is a dark fantasy masterpiece that outperforms its predecessor in every way. With its vividly created characters, sophisticated plot, and haunting atmosphere, it is a must-read for genre enthusiasts. A.M. Dunnewin has excelled herself with this novella.

"She didn’t know him, didn’t know his life or his name. But she could at least bestow the sentiment, human to human. She could at least say goodbye to him for those who didn’t get to."

After saving the lost prince from his execution, Joss Brevyn is on the run. With a price on their heads, the deathsman and her assistant, Henrik, have only one way to clear their find Callan Ronen and get him home to Aselian. But while both assume that finding him would be the hard part, it’s staying alive that becomes the challenge.

This sequel is the ultimate cat and mouse chase! We return to Joss and Henrick, on the run with the Prince, and Aric hot on their heels. I just really love Joss y'all; she's such an epic female protagonist - she's smart, she's brave, she's compassionate but incredibly fierce, she's everything we need in a kick butt fem lead. The plot is perfectly timed and kept me enthralled - I finished this in two days. This isn't a significantly large book and makes for the perfect palate cleanser if you need something shorter and punchy. Honestly, such a fantastic indie read - highly recommend.

Thank you to Brey’s Book Tours and AM Dunnewin for providing me with a digital copy of this book. This is my honest review.

Can we talk about how satisfying it is to finally read a book you’ve been waiting for? 🤌🏽 I had the absolute pleasure of reading book 1 in the All The Dark Souls trilogy late last year and I have been dying to see what happens next! AM Dunnewin did not disappoint! 🙌🏽

All the Blood Spilt picks up right where All The Dark Souls wrapped up and doesn’t stop moving. One of my favorite things in fantasy is The Big Journey. Ya know, the one where our group of heroes gallivants through the woods, gets a little stibbity stabbity while being pursued, and connects on a deeper emotional level? Yeah, that one! That’s pretty much what this book consists of and I ate it up!
-
While I love a good tome of a book, not all books have to be extra long to transport you and, thus far, this trilogy is a perfect example of that. One of Dunnewin’s strong suits is delivering one-sitting reads full of characterization and intrigue. Short, fast paced, high stakes, but still very deliberate.
-
Overall, I really enjoyed All The Blood Spilt! I thought it was a great follow up to All The Dark Souls. And with that cliffhanger, I can’t wait to see where book 3 leads!

Book two in the #allthedarksoulstrilogy, I was very excited to keep this story going in my mind after reading All the Dark Souls. So …. where did we get up to with Joss, Aric, Henrick and Callan? There is no breath between Book 1 and 2; Joss is on the run, and running for her life.

Each of the four give off a certain level of energy that feeds momentum and the drive to continue on for justice (and also mayhem, violence and thwarting enemies). The tension seeping from Callan is intense, and he’s a tough nut to crack for Joss. He is the heir to the throne who has a time sensitive journey at play, yet there is something about hi that seems unsettling, and it has not yet become apparent as to how big that impact will be.

This book is filled with a lot of tension, and that is a driving force of the story and each of the characters in more detail. We are led down the path of knowing each of the main characters a little more, and they are all quite similar in some respects as their lives and histories begin to be unpacked.

AM Dunnewin has certainly created a story in this trilogy that will keep you hooked in, and I cannot wait for the final reveal in Book Three!

I might have said this in my review for the first instalment but I kind of wish this trilogy was all just one big 600-page book because the writing, and particularly the characterisation, are both very very good, but the story for each instalment doesn't have much of a beginning, middle and end. It just feels like what I suspect it is - a single story that got broken up into three small 200-page pieces.

That said. It's very good.

I really like the FMC, Joss, and did so from the first page of the first book. She has this quiet strength that I just adore. And she's so good and so caring of other people. I just don't know how she does her job and it was crazy to read in the author's notes of the first book that this actually happened to certain families!

Her relationship with Henrick, her sort of brother, is very sweet as well. They're constantly saving each other. and they never even have to ask. They just have each other's backs at all times.

As for the other blooming relationship with Aric - again I felt like we were just getting somewhere when it ended so I think I'm going to be picking up the final - and I suspect most action-packed - instalment very soon!

This is the second book in the All The Dark Souls Trilogy and picks up right where we left off in book 1. Joss has saved the lost prince from his execution and now they’re on the run back to Aselian and to reclaim Callan’s throne. Now labeled as criminals makes their journey more difficult than it was already going to be with knowing there are very few they can trust and bounties on the prince’s head that’s makes them all targets. Aric, being one of many, hunting the Prince down is at battle with himself as killing the prince would save him from the Mask and also saving Joss as well. However upon catching up with the trio, he realizes it’s not so straightforward as just killing the Prince and running for the rest of his days. Tensions rise and traitors coming for them from any direction makes their already time sensitive journey all that more pressing as forces behind the scenes are making strides against Prince Callan. I am far too invested now to be left again on another cliffhanger. Tensions ran high for the group and emotions were bursting at the seams as secrets are revealed and the severity of not reaching the kingdom in time can have detrimental effects on everyone. While there were nice moments among the group, it was an interesting dynamic between Callan, Joss and Henrik and then adding Aric into the mix. I need book 3 like now!

And that, my friends, is how you do a sequel.

Did much actually happen in this book? In terms of broad sweeping actions, no, but there was a lot of character growth and depth explored while our rag-tag group trouped around the countryside together.

The writing was glorious to read, and just so easy to devour I read this in two days around work and life and all that fun stuff. It's a testament to how well the story is written that I just kept gravitating back to wanting to find out what happened next.

If I'm honest, I actually liked that this instalment of the trilogy focused on the characters and letting the reader get better acquainted with them. It will, I have no doubt, make the third part that much more engaging.

This one got my romance-ish tag because there was a lovely low level heat brewing and the furtive glances, lowered lashes, and slight smiles shared were a nice warm touch to an otherwise cold, wet and tough journey for our team.

Henrik had a good character arc in this book. It allowed the reader to really get a feel for him as a character and make him become a fully realised 3D being on the page, not just a cookie-cutter side-kick character that follows normal tropes. This only bolstered things between he and Joss which heaped on the feels during some of the tense scenes.

I already have book three in the trilogy, and it'll be at the top of my TBR very soon. Watch This Space!

Warning: this review contains spoilers for book 1 of the All the Dark Souls series - don’t read this review before reading that book. Although that’s rich coming from me.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this e-ARC of All the Blood Spilt by AM Dunnewin. I picked up this book without realising it’s the second book in a series that I haven’t read the first of… but I famously did this with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban so I’m not put off. This is 3⭐️ from me.

It starts off with action, as well as enough of a review of the first book that I could keep up. Joss is an executioner, she saved a lost prince from wrongful execution, and has a thing for a guy who turned out to be an assassin who was prepared to kill her to get the Prince. Now she’s on the run, desperately trying to find Prince Callan with her faithful assistant Henrik by her side.

Firstly, I wish I’d seen how Joss and Aric’s relationship developed in the first book, because I really love how it’s portrayed here. Aric is all about Joss and the way he follows behind, quietly supporting and defending her without her even knowing he’s there is bizarrely sweet. And there’s something really attractive about a man who finds a strong, capable, scary woman sexy! Although in the later parts of the book it does feel a bit like it becomes manufactured angst to keep them apart.

Again maybe I’m missing things from Book 1, but I liked Henrik, and wish we’d seen more of him and his character development. The familial relationship with Joss is more stated than illustrated in this book, but what we see of him is lovely. I would have liked to see more development of him, especially with the happenings that surround him.

Callan is really intriguing - this is no fairytale or conversely villain prince character, and he's got some major issues and some major drama surrounding him. I admit I still struggle to understand why he just goes along with Joss and Henrik joining him, his motivations there are not portrayed well, but I'm definitely intrigued to see where his storyline is going in book 3. I just wish we'd seen more character development.

Also, this book was just pretty short. It's a one-sitting read, which is fine (and to some people that's a draw), but to me it felt like not enough happened and this book didn't really have it's own story in it's own right - it indicates a bit of middle book syndrome or filler episode writing. And since character development is the big thing for me in novels, the short length and focus on action meant character development suffered, and that's just not my cup of tea.

Overall I enjoyed it, not helped by missing out the first book. I did enjoy the fact it was fast-paced and that definitely kept me interested. I wouldn't go seeking the next one, but I'd read it if I came across it. This series is for you if you liked The Furyck Saga by AE Rayne.

☼ 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: 4/5 ⭐️
☼ 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐞: 0/5
☼ 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬: book 2 of 3, multiple POV, medieval-esque fantasy, assassins, war, suspense, long journey, fluff romance, witty banter, found family, political intrigue, betrayal
☼ 𝐓𝐖: grief, mild torture/mutilation, violence

Thank you to NetGalley and Dark Hour Press LLC for letting me read and review this book!

Book 2 begins immediately after the events of the first book. Joss Brevyn and her assistant Henrik are on the run. Not only are they running because of the price on their heads, but also in search of the man they saved — a man claiming to be the long lost prince and heir to the throne. In the hopes of clearing their names, they follow him through the dense forests and treacherous terrain seeking to help him and we learn pretty quickly just how dangerous this journey may turn out to be.

Once again we find ourselves reading from multiple POV’s, only this time with the added view of Callen Ronen. A stubborn and determined man who will stop at nothing to get home. The heir presumptive adds more tension and darkness to the story the more we uncover of him and his backstory and what had happened during his disappearance.

I found myself connected on more of an emotional level with the story and characters than I expected. Joss is so kind hearted but a bit savage, reserved yet unwavering. Henrik and Joss continue to be each others strength, always there to be whatever support the other needs. They’re protective of one another and I love their familial bond. Callen adds unfettered determination that Joss easily understands thanks to her years of being an Executioner. Even despite his initial mistrust and suspicions, he begins to form a rapport with Joss and Henrik that slowly deepens as the story progresses. And while the trio continues their push to Aselian, Aric is hot on their heels. Still determined to complete his assassination mission in order to save his own life, he uncovers some interesting truths along the way and finds himself questioning his motives. Joss, and his growing affection for her, at the heart of that change. There wasn’t much more to show in terms of their romance. It was comprised of longing and inner monologues, though they were finally more earnest with their feelings for one another.

"𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈," 𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅, 𝒑𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒃𝒚 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔. "𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒏'𝒕 𝒂𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆, 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒆. 𝑻𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒆 𝒔𝒐 𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏."

The writing and story feel much more fluid in this volume, with the action rising and falling steadily throughout. A lot happens in the small amount of pages (just under 200) and the connection between the characters continues to build as the journey reveals even more plot twists along the way. We also get a better understanding of the treachery at play and who is behind the masked men that want the prince dead. Overall, it was a fairly exciting and adventurous tale that had me looking forward to the final book.

**** eARC provided by NetGalley and Dark Hours Press, LLC****

Nearly two hundred pages of characters thinking rather than interacting with each other.

I was hoping that this installment would be stronger than the first, but it didn't give me anything new. These characters are on this journey together where I am privy to every single one of their internal monologues, but I still feel like I don't have a grasp of what the plot is because the end goal or end battle is never expressly stated. I feel like we are just floating through the story with just random conflicts being thrown at us.

The romance between Joss and Aric is starting to give me the ick and it takes a lot of something to turn me off. I was hoping that there would be more development of their relationship in this book through more actual interactions, but there really isn't. The first book just felt like puppy love, with each of them feeling connection with the first person who was nice to them, but they barely interacted in that book. It felt like they only said like five sentences to each other and the rest was just in their heads.

It is the same in this book. Aric literally kissed her and pushed her into a river that we were explicitly told people die in all the time and she is barely even conflicted about his motivations. She doesn't make him grovel or feel any linger mistrust of him. Joss just accepts him back with a goofy grin and starry eyes. It bugs the hell out of me.

This book relies heavily on internal character dialogue rather than character interactions which makes me feel really disconnected from the story. There is never a big reveal or secrets kept because we are in all of the character's heads all the time. If it was told in multiple points of view in different chapters it would be easier to connect because you would be able to keep track of who knows what or who is hiding something, but instead its all jumbled and confusing.

I don't think I will be continuing this series. I'm not invested in the story because the characters don't feel invested in their story. I can't anticipate the ending if I'm not sure what the end goal was in the first place. This story structure just isn't for me.

Even better than the first one!

More action, more character development, more world building.

Things move a bit quicker in this one which I really appreciate, since the first book mostly took place in Joss's home, and most the book was just building everyone's back stories. Now that Joss, Henrick, and Callan are wanted and on the road, we get to see so much more of the world around them, with the scenery shifting from inns and taverns, and in and out of forests and towns. Not only does this book move a bit quicker, but there is just constant movement of the characters as well, keeping the suspense alive wondering who will find them next. We also get to see everyone in action in the one. While Joss isn't executing in this book, she's still breaking noses, dragging people along the forest floor by the throat, and bashing men's faces in with canteens (I might be in love with her). Callan kills a man with his bare hands, Aric does what Aric does, killing from the shadows, and Henrick... well Henrick gets the shit kicked out of him but at one point he carries a pistol. Don't remember if he ever actually used it... But we still love and appreciate him all the same.

The slow burn lives on, but so does the swooning. Again, loving the fact that Aric is so into how bad ass and scary Joss is. And how the fluffy side of the romance is all from him, while Joss keeps her distance given the reality of their situations and possible outcomes of their relationship.

Still, my only complaint remains the same, just wish these books were longer.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

I'm so happy I decided to continue with this series. The second book really fleshed out the missing portions that were left out in the first book. Joss and Ariks characters to me no longer seemed one dimensional and had the depth I wanted in the first book. Having more information on Joss and her background added the necessary information for the reader to understand why she behaved the way she does and her reactions to certain situations. I'm still waiting for a bit more background for Arik's character but understand as he's the assassin the mystery is needed. I hope with the third book those questions about him can be answered. With the addition of Callan the plot really came together and had me completely sucked into the story. Callan is an interesting addition to the cast and added the suspense that was lacking from the first book. I enjoyed the appearance of many of the characters from the first book that were included in many of the scenes. It allowed us to have some closure with certain situations and characters. Just like last time Henrik really was the star of the book. His character is what really makes the series, he brings the comedic relief that is needed to balance the darker aspects of the book. I will definitely continue on with the series and recommend it if you're looking for something fast and fun to read.

I am loving this series so much, it keeps getting better. It picks up right where it left off in book 1 - All the Dark Souls. Joss and Henrick are on the run along with royal prince, Callan to get him home to Aselian, whereas Aric is not far behind, targeting to kill the prince.

• I'm loving the female protagonist, Joselyn. She is so brave, strong and equally compassionate. She needs no magic to defend her own, I love how strong she is, always speaks her mind and never acts like a damsel in distress even though traveling with three male.♡

• The story doesn't drag and the plot is well-written with lots of edge of the seat moments. We witness excellent character development and each character becomes more clearer to the reader as their pasts unfold.

• This ends in a teeth-biting cliffhanger, I'm thrilled to see what the last book in this trilogy unfolds, hopefully we'll be able to see more of Muriel, prince's betrothed and his family politics in the next one.

What to expect ~
→Fierce & Brave FMC
→Ulterior Motive // Political Intrigue
→Journey based
→Angst, lots of tension,
→ Survival strategies, Dangers
→Dark Gothic Fantasy

*I received this ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

I really wish this were better, but I was left pretty disappointed. The first instalment definitely wasn't perfect but it was strong start to the trilogy and while there was a lot of character head hopping I could overlook it as the story was being built up.

Nothing really happened in this book? The head hopping reached phenomenal levels, to the point where multiple times, I had to re-read paragraphs to be sure whose perspective we were in, because it flipped aroind constantly even within the same few lines.

The book was also INCREDIBLY overwritten. I reckon about a third of the novel could have been scrapped because it included unnecessary detail that didn't help the story move forward. Do I need to know that one character moved her grip on the handle of her favourite axe, feeling the grain of the wood beneath her calloused fingers, from the end to just under the hilt in order to open the door with her other hand? Not really. Just say she opened the door. It was constant, and added with the lack of forward momentum or action in this book, I ended up doing a lot of skim reading.

I gotta be honest, I probably won't read the last book in this trilogy. Such a shame because there really was some solid potential, but the writing and the lack of storyline realy dragged this book down.

This book was an easy read and It just pulled me deeper into Joss & Aric situationship. I couldn't put it down. I lost track of how many times I held my breath thinking the worst was about to happen.

Joss and Henrick share so much history that it's hard to imagine them not being actual family. It would be normal for him to be a little jealous of the idea of sharing his life with Joss with another person but he was trying.

Callen's story is heart breaking and it was a true struggle for him to believe that the duo had purely good intentions on his behalf after the trials he'd been through. But near the end after Joss put herself in harms way to help him he started to come around to the idea.

Aric has a tough exterior but a warm heart that he tries to jeep hidden due o the nature of his job. He's so in love with Joss that he doesn't see everything as clearly as he should. He has good intentions and I can only hope they are carried out eventually.

You will feel all sorts of emotions on this journey but I most definitely believe that you won't regret giving it a read.

But I must admit I can't even tell you how distraught I am at the cliffhanger in the end... I am emotionally crushed. 😪 But I'll hold out hope for the 3rd book to give me closure.
🤗

✨ book review: All the Blood Spilt (All the Dark Souls Trilogy: Book 2) by A. M. Dunnewin ✨ 3.5/5

Joss Brevyn, a deathsman, and her assistant Henrik must save the lost prince, Callan Ronen, from execution, leading to a perilous journey with a bounty on their heads. Pursued by threats, including the vengeful assassin Aric Kayden, the trio faces moral dilemmas as they navigate a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse. Callan's dark secret adds complexity, forcing Joss and Aric to weigh the importance of doing what's right against self-preservation.

I really like the story of the strong FMC becoming a fugiative and just mainly being bad ass. Dunnewin wrote a nice story about friendship and betrayal. The main characters are all very likable and you can acurally understand the way why they behave like they do. The writing is nice and straightforward.

I liked the frist book but this was better, imo. I am looking forward to book 3 <3

Joss' journey continues as she and Henrick help the Prince Royal escape. Aric is elusive, and Joss can't make sense of their last interaction. Despite challenges along the way, the four are reunited in their journey. Callan must reach Aselian as soon as possible, Joss, Henrick and Aric with him, all helping the group reach their destination. Attempts at their lives are not uncommon, and the trust between the group grows with each life saved. Blood of enemies and assassins sent by the Mask leaves a trail in their wake.

I loved how everyone got to know each others past, how perceptive they all are. And the tension between Joss and Aric needs resolving! I loved that they finally recognized their feelings for each other, and that they keep fighting for each other. The quartet keeps each other alive and moving towards their destination, which is so close at the end here. I need the next book so bad!!

I absolutely LOVED the first book. I could not wait to see what else was in store for this installment! But I was a little disappointed. Writing a book mainly about a group that’s traveling is tough, but it can still be engaging. This second book seemed almost like filler between the first and second books. I was expecting banter between the characters and this is the time to REALLY dive into their personalities. We still only know Callan on the surface level and that makes me extremely wary of him. We see glimpses of him here and there and one scenario of banter when Joss rides her horse into the tavern but that’s about it.
I do still have high hopes for the last book (which I already started of course).
Thanks as always to NetGalley and Dark Hour Press LLC. It has been an honor to be a part of this publishing journey at every book in this trilogy!

We are back with Joss in book 2 of the Dark Souls Trilogy. Some spoilers from book 1 if you read on.

Joss and Henrik are on the run after saving the prince from execution. They now are trying to find him and help him get home. It turns out that they are going to have to fight to stay alive since there's now a price on their heads.

Just like the first book, this one is dark. It's confusing that it's considered a "romance" book since there's actually very little romance.

There is a lot of action and a lot of twists and turns that I didn't see coming. It's a book that really does keep you wanting more, even though it can be dark and graphic at times.

I really would like to read the third book when it comes out to see what happens with everyone.

Cawpile score: 8.00/4.5 stars

Sometimes I really enjoy reading a shorter book, because if done right, they can be quite refreshing and this book was exactly what I needed.

Personally, I really felt immersed in the story in a way I didn't for quite some time. It makes you feel like it's set in a medieval time, but they have fire arms, so it's not that old. However, the plot is simple and easy to follow and the characters are quite normal and relatable.

I can't say that it's a super complex and impressive work, but it's perfect for when you need something to make you relax a little bit, and sometimes (especially after a fantasy book with tons and tons of world building and magic/political systems) that's exactly what I need

All the Blood Spilt is the second book in the All the Dark Souls Trilogy. We continue our journey with Joss and Henrik, and are introduced to Callan who adds more suspense and intrigue to the story. The connection between the characters grows as the journey reveals twists along the way. In the most unexpected of circumstances, Henrik continues to provide comedic relief. In addition, we gain a better understanding of the treachery at play and who is behind the masked men. As a whole, it was an intriguing and adventurous tale that left me eager for the final instalment.

Thank you NetGalley and A.M Dunnewin for a fantastic read for an honest review.

Lots of the journey to the capital city in this book. Some small plot points, but honestly, just a lot of talking about horses and outposts. We team back up with Aric (yay!) and more of Callan's past is revealed; Joss meets an old acquaintance, and Henrik bumps into the girl he loves.

Despite the rollercoaster of book one, this second book was a bit of a letdown in comparison. I'm hoping book three redeems the story and we finally reach the castle!

This is book 2 in this All the Dark Souls Trilogy picking back up right where book 1 left off. Joss and Henrik are now on the run with the lost prince trying to get him home to Aselian while trying to stay alive with hunters and the like all after him for a bounty. I cannot tell you how amazing this book is to read. I love the female deathsman, the hunter turned good, the lost prince with a dark side, and then Henrik is just such an amazing friend. This is a dark fantasy but it isn’t just fantasy, and I highly recommend this to those who are usually turned away from fantasy. I really feel this triology is genre bending and unlike the usual hefty size of fantasy books, this one is a quick read. I literally cannot way for book 3, I need to know how this ends!

My thoughts: YAY for book 2 in the Dark Souls trilogy! It started where it left off and I just couldn't put it down! I'm in love with these characters you guys and all their broken little pieces of them! The world, the setting, the premise! Just all around these are so so good! A WOMAN EXECUTIONER WITH AN AXE? COME ON! THAT'S ALL YOU NEED TO READ THESE!! Thanks always @breysbooktours and the author @amdunnewin for letting me be on this team! Can't freaking wait for book 3!

I give All the blood spilt by A.M. Dunnewin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This series still has a lot of pacing issues in my opinion. And while it was very short it was a drag to get through. The writing improved from the first book, but I can't bring myself to care for the characters or action.
Disclaimer: I've received an ARC through Netgalley, but all opinions are my own.

Joss and Henrik continue their mission to help the lost Prince Callan if for nothing else but to clear their names for not executing him. Will they make it? Will they perish along the way? Will they be in time to deliver the Prince or is it all for nothing? Don’t ask me I’m not giving away the story go read it!
