A series of unexplained events, a truth more insidious than any fiction, and a woman determined to get her life back.

As one of Hollywood’s hottest stars, Ellie Cavanaugh knows the value of managing her schedule. So why is she missing so many meetings and forgetting entire conversations lately? And even worse, what’s triggering the terrifying manic episodes that have her fearing for her safety? Thankfully, she knows just the place to hide away while she figures it out. But when her car ends up in a ditch in the middle of an epic snowstorm, and she’s rescued by Dr. Asher Warwick, Mystery Lake might not be the only safe haven she finds.

Dr. Asher Warwick is the “nice” Warwick cousin. He hates the label, but it’s hard to argue against. He’s a respected physician, a community volunteer, and, to his mind, just a regular guy. It’s his steady presence that Ellie comes to rely on, though, as she seeks refuge in Mystery Lake. Asher is happy to be there for her in whatever way she needs, but he can’t shake the feeling that there’s more to her erratic behavior than just professional burnout. And when he accidentally stumbles across the cause of one of Ellie’s more disturbing symptoms, his suspicions are confirmed.

Unraveling the truth reveals a plot more sinister than any film. And determining who’s behind it—and why—will prove deadly.

Tamsen Schultz is the author of several romantic suspense novels and American Kin (a short story published in Line Zero Magazine). In addition to being a writer, she has a background in the field of international conflict resolution, has co-founded a non-profit, and currently works in corporate America. Like most lawyers, she spends a disproportionate amount of time thinking (and writing) about what it might be like to do something else. She lives in Northern California in a house full of males including her husband, two sons, three cats, a dog, and a gender-neutral, but well-stocked, wine rack.

This one was missing some of the magic. The MMC had the personality of a wet paper bag. I know he hated when his family called him "nice", but dude.... that's kind of all you got going on.

Hidden is the latest instalment in the Mystery Lake Series, involving the lovely and very talented Warwick family. This time we have the story of Dr Asher Warwick, a man who is happy to stand back and as a result has got the reputation of being the nice one. He puts everyone ahead of himself and will do anything for those he cares about. When he meets Hollywood Star Ellie Cavanaugh, he has finally found someone who really sees him and cares for what he wants and needs.
Ellie has been struggling, forgetting things and having panic attacks, she comes to Mystery Creek for a break and to get away from everything. Here Asher helps her, along with the HICC team to get to the bottom of what's going on.
I thought that the way that Ellie was being messed with was quite interesting. I don't know how easy it would be in real life to do that, but I liked the idea and it worked well in the story. I also really like Ellie and Asher as a couple, they were a good match and came across as a true partnership, which I always really enjoy in a romance.
I love this series with its combination of thriller and romance, it makes for a really gripping read and one that I just couldn't put down.

Asher and Ellie

This was a great addition to the Mystery Lake series. The couples in the series are all very interconnected and I love that they all reappear in each new addition to the series. This book felt a little different from the first four. It was a little spicier and less intense while still keeping the found family and mystery/suspense of the other books in the series.

Ellie Cavanaugh is known as America’s Sweetheart, but to Dr. Asher Warwick she becomes something else entirely. After rescuing her from a wreck on the way to Mystery Lake, he finds himself helping her solve the mystery of what is causing her mental health to seemingly deteriorate. Ellie has been suffering from paranoia and memory loss for six months now, and she finally decides to run to her friend Sofia in Mystery Lake to help her figure out what is going on. She never intended her trip to Mystery Lake to include a budding relationship with Asher Warwick.

I loved Asher and Ellie together. They were both so protective of each other and saw through the walls they erected to hide emotions. Ellie supports Asher in a way nobody ever has, she sees his pain in being the “nice” Warwick and is able to vocalize his feelings better than he could. And Asher sees the woman beneath the America’s Sweetheart veneer. The way he protects Ellie and helps her accept the relegations about her condition showed how much he not only loved Ellie, but also respected her.

This was an exciting read. It had mystery and romance and all the Warwick and HICC characters from past books. Asher was definitely a cinnamon roll character and Ellie was his perfect match.

Hidden, book 5 in the Mystery Lake series is another example of Tamsen Schultz at her best. This author is whip smart, always giving the reader a solid, well plotted mystery using some sort of cutting edge technology or a little known scientific face / discovery that most people have never heard of.

I know when I pick up a novel by this author that I'm going to learn something fascinating without feeling like I'm being lectured or talked down to. Several times after reading one of her books I've done further research on what new thing I've learned in her book.

This time it's a story of a popular Hollywood actress coming to know a doctor with a heart of gold. The kind of doctor we'd all want treating ourselves, friends, or family. I loved the characters and at a certain point in the story I was questioning what I thought of several different characters. Ms. Schulz is a master at leading the readers' mind to all sorts of ideas or conclusions that turn out to be incorrect.

The Warwick family and the town of Mystery Lake definitely have found a place in my heart and I'm already looking forward to the next book in this series. If your reading go-to is mysteries or suspense with smart characters, good solid values, and a storyline that pulls you in immediately, Tamsen Schulz's books are calling your name! There isn't a bad Tamsen Schulz book so pick up whichever one catches you eye. You'll be very happy you did.

Thank you to the author and publisher for an ARC at my request. All thoughts are my own and happily shared.

Hidden is another fantastic addition to the Mystery Lake series. While Ellie and Asher's romance can be read and enjoyed on its own, I recommend reading the series in order since most of the Warwicks from the previous novels make appearances. As with all of this author's books, there is something totally unique to the mystery and suspense part of the plot. Very realistically described and therefore totally scary and mind-blowing! I've always liked Ash as a secondary character and he is an awesome hero while Ellie is his perfect match. I loved their connection, their strenght and the wonderful HEA they found. Another one for the keeper shelf and I can't wait for the next book in the series!
I was very fortunate to have received an advanced copy from the author and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.

I totally love this Mystery lake series by Tamsen. While this is book five, it’s a complete standalone but the characters from the previous books are mentioned. This one is regarding Ellie, who is an actress going to visit her friend in Mystery Lake. She is in a car accident and the story takes off from there. It’s a great romantic suspense story with just the right amount of steam. I so loved both characters as they were strong and very likable in their own right. A great read in my opinion. I received an ARC copy.

Movie Star Ellie Cavanaugh heads on impulse to Mystery Lake to visit her friend Sofia and get some help with recent problems. A car accident gets her involved with Dr. Asher Warwick and the two become the focal point of the story in both suspense and romance. Many of the other Warwick family members we know from past Mystery Lake stories are also included in the solving of the mysteries and there is an abundance of intrigue and investigation in the novel. It’s a fast paced novel that you won’t want to put down and I eagerly await the next installment.

Mystery Lake Review

Excellent series. The stories follow a formula but it does not take away anything from the stories. The characters are well developed. The relationships between the Warwick cousins and their parents are funny and also heartwarming. Schultz gives her readers mysteries, excitement, romance and a good story. When you read the books straight thru a reader will pick up on repeated phases, behaviors and more. My only complaint is I have to wait for next book. Well done Tamsen Schultz!

Another winner in Schultz's Mystery Lake Series. Sat down to read and couldn't stop. Hidden tells the story of Asher and Ellie figuring out their relationship while solving the mystery of who, how, and why someone is trying to destroy Elli’s life. I love settling down to read the satisfying and suspenseful words/worlds Schulz creates. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Unexpected!
This is the word to describe Hidden, the 5th story of Tamsen Schultz’s Mystery Lake series. Unexpected problems, unexpected nemesis, unexpected memories…but very well executed story line and wonderfully satisfying ending! Who will be next? I have my suspicions!!
Thank you for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

When Ellie Cavanaugh leaves LA to visit her friends in Mystery Lake, she is rushed and gets in an accident in a bad storm on the way there. Asher Warwick rescues her and helps her get to Sophia's house. Things have been getting progressively worse for Ellie, she feels she's losing her mind.

Is she? Or is it something or someone else?

Great read. Number 5 im the Mystery Lake series!

Ellie might be a Hollywood star, but she was emotionally lost, and trying to reach her friends by driving through an epic snowstorm

Ash was another Warwick cousin.

Timely connections?

Almost made it, saved by the Bell!

Great read. Characters were well placed into the story. But trying to identify who was targeting El was very well hidden. A story you can't put down!

A story that could happen to anyone. Elle is a great star but something is wrong. She can’t seem to remember things. What could possibly be wrong. Binge worthy. Well written.

overbearing

His family was too overbearing, intrusive and rude. They needed to be toned down a little in order for the family dynamics to work and there were way to many of them.
