Haha, not my first f/f dark romance, and probably not the darkest I've read, but definitely the most bonkers/divorced from reality? Labelling this as a sports romance was optimism on my part; there's not a lot of actual volleyball. There is a lot of obsession and stalking and very dubious behaviour. Tia is a brat with abandonment issues; Laura is the world's worst coach and obsessed with her, which is only made palatable by the fact that Tia is obsessed right back. The drama with the teammates was silly. The dean gave me hives. There was a chance for some emotional depth with Tia's past but we skipped right over it. This was pretty much just smut, and I can't be mad at it because it's what I expected when I picked it up.

I was willing to overlook the obviously predatory behavior of the coach regarding Tia. I was willing to overlook the fact that coach is an older adult and Tia is like 18. I am not willing to overlook when one character clearly says, "No." And the other character continues because, "Her body said something different." That is not kink in any way. That is SA, plain and simple and I had to DNF right there. I'm so tired of people thinking that forcing themselves on someone is kinky. It's gross. No thank you.

Unfortunately, this book wasn’t for me. While I love dark romances and have no problem with an unhinged character, Laura was a bit extreme and it kind of felt a little unrealistic at times.
Within saying that though I’ve not yet found a FF dynamic that I have enjoyed.

An addictive, very dark and very forbidden romance, although seduction may be a better word for these two. Absolutely hot as hell yet also really cute at the same time somehow, Tia is just adorable. Definitely check the trigger warnings and be more than okay with a strong Mommy-kink and Bdsm.
It starts off with a bang and keeps a fast, gripping pace, I inhaled this in a day.
The cover and particularly the promo posters are so gorgeous, I would have loved one of the promo photos on the cover instead, but I do see how that could be a little much!
Well written but quite direct with telling you the background and any necessary information throughout. It makes for an easy read but would be nicer to have some thoughts and feelings left for the reader to infer rather than told outright.
They are a little toxic as a couple, but in the usual dark-romance way, they do both very much want it and get off on the slightly cringe/taking it too far situations, just don’t actually check that with each other first.
It is a little creepy that the teacher has ‘had tia in her dreams since she saw her in high school’, and was the one to choose her for a scholarship… You can see the cause for concern from the college faculty.
Very toxic and forceful, not one mention of consent or safe words in this entire book. If it weren’t fiction it would not be legal and I would be running for the hills… But since it is, I still ate it up.
Too much in the best way, taking everything just on the edge of too far, lots of possessive/controlling, dom-sub moments. Also Coach is a little bit of a stalker, and almost scary at times, but only to protect her little Princess. So it’s a little hot, I have to admit.
Tia was adorable, vulnerable, yet still by no means weak or incapable, an easy character to love. Mommy- I mean- Laura was a little more rough around the edges, slightly unhinged but still protective and caring. They fit together perfectly.
We don’t get too much detail on Laura as a person, but lots of history and deeper trauma/story on Tias childhood/life.
Some of the dialogue is a bit stiff and formal, with a few minor mistakes, however this is an ARC copy and as such these parts may yet to be edited and it is actually surprisingly polished.
Overall a dark and dirty book, spicey and WLW, I really enjoyed reading it.

Coach's Pet by S.J. Ransom is a forbidden lesbian romance. This is the second book in the Groveton College series and each book can be read as a standalone.
I was pulled in from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. The relationship between Tia and Laura is messy and unconventional. But I couldn't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of views throughout the book.
I can't wait for the next book in the series that S.J. wrote Dirty Dean to be released on December 15, 2023, so I can get Chris and Jasmine's story.
I would recommend this book if you like forbidden romances, age gap romances, lesbian romances, BDSM romances, or college romances.

There is a bit of co-dependency between the MCs. Laura is slightly unhinged in her desire to own and control Tia. On the surface, Tia is a strong, independent woman, but she is hiding some deep wounds that can only be healed by someone who can take control of her life and never leave.
Each is obsessed with the other, even before they enter a relationship. Aside from the more toxic elements of their relationship, Laura and Tia’s bond is based on a mutual need for love. There are sweet moments where they show their true feelings outside a sexual need.
I would have loved a deeper dive into Laura’s life pre-Tia. She was an enigmatic character who could have used some background information to explain her intense obsession with Tia. What made her this way?

Okay, this book was my first from S.J. Ransom. I don’t know if it truly deserves a fully rounded 3 star rating, but props to the sex scenes. They were hot.
This story is very dark and goes under the dark romance tag. There are multiple dubious consent scenes. Also the BDSM is a bit more on the extreme side. The main characters are involved in a mommy/daughter dynamic of a relationship. If any of this concerns you, do not read it.
The writing did not blow me away, but I enjoy dark romances and I liked the effort. I also thought the dub-con scenes were a bit concerning, but I have read worse. I’m really not into the mommy/daughter dynamic, but it is what it is. That was definitely something I wished I knew going into the reading. It was an okay read overall.

Oh this author is notorious for bringing psychotic characters to life and having you completely consumed by their craziness, and this one is just one more to add to the growing list now. It's forbidden at its best.
Coach Laura is dark, possessive, and obsessed with Tia her new volleyball player/student. She goes to the extremes to get her little princess. This character has a few unhinged moments and is a complete Dommy so yes there are definite mommy kinks here.
Tia has some past trauma that makes her act out at times, so when her new coach/professor becomes overbearing and strict it causes her to seek out any type of attention from her. With her online persona being the one in charge she quickly finds herself submitting to coach Laura quickly. This leads to a new realization for Tia that she craves a mommy and Laura is all too happy to become her new mommy.
This story is fast paced with tons of twisted debauchery happening in a short amount of time. These two bring a lot of spicy moments in this one so be ready for a wild ride here!! I'm seriously loving this multi-author series and can't wait for more!

This one took the unique turn of, for me at least, mommy and little dynamic. We know that littles like to just feel they can be little, forget responsibilities, be taken care of. Sometimes they search this dynamic out due to past trauma, and that for sure describes Tia.
I can not say I agree with some of the things Laura did to get her end result, not at all, but this is fiction, and I applaud the author for taking big chances on showing the obsession that consumed the coach.
I enjoyed this one a lot, along with the lead up to the author's second book in this series later where we see the Dean and Jazz's dynamic play out for us. Must read, it's early in the series, but I think it's going to be a great one!!!

This book was my first FF read. I have decided it’s not necessarily my thing but the book was well written. This book dives into a lot of kinks and is more along the BDSM lines then the dark romance ones in my opinion. Degrading, discipline, mommy, and mild regression. Check your trigger warnings first. Overall good story, some of the spicy scenes were a little too much and that made them unrealistic but overall good.

This was such a hotttt read. I should not have read this at work but once I started I couldn't stop. The characters were exactly what each other needed. They had really good chemistry and I'm shocked the entire university didn't know about them with how hot and heavy they were getting.
Definitely gonna check out the other book in this series bc I NEED to know more about the Dean and his step niece.

I didn’t like how many times Tia used the word ‘Mommy’, I mean each to their own, but it’s a no from me. If I never hear it again, it’ll be too 🔜.
This book has the whole Dom/Sub vibe but I don’t feel like they did it right! I didn’t enjoy it, and I certainly did not enjoy when she compared ‘aftercare’ with her sub to caring for an actual daughter ikkk it just crossed a line for me. So I DNF’d it right there.

Would you risk your career for the love of your life? How about your education? This sapphic, fast paced with explicit smut scenes is absolutely delicious!!! Both main characters are extremely jealous, unhinged and co-dependent on one another. I love the Bd$m and Mommy Dom, Laura loves Tia but will make her take her punishment how she see fits 😈!! Once they are caught will the punishment sever their relationship? I can not wait until Dirty Dean comes out, and Jazz’s story is told!!

But their journey is an wicked one and they will have to fight for love. If you have read from the author before you know she likes to do dark psycho and the one might be her best.

I was tempted to DNF at 5%. I should've. Laura (coach) locks the door and tells Tia (student) to strip before laying on the massage table. 🚩
^ Now I'm not sure if that's a normal thing in American schools for sports and stuff as I've seen in American movies they have massage tables, but this didn't set well with me. But I pushes through.
A few chapters later, Laura breaks into Tia's apartment after stalking Tia and following her home. 🚩 They had also had a phone call on the cam girl website.
Laura licks one of Tia's vibrators and shoves it in her vagina, while she's sleeping. 🚩 Then she steals a thong and leaves the apartment. 🚩 Red flag but thought surely this couldn't get worse? Right?
Tia doesn't take it out as she "doesn't know it's there" - girl do you not use the toilet like ever? She only found out around mid-day that it was there because Laura had taken the remote with her and was using it on high settings. Every time she "tried to remove it" it would increase the settings? Not once did Tia think - where's the remote?
The coach calls her (not sure why they have each others phone numbers) as Tia is coming and asks why she's not at practice. Tia just goes "it wasn't on my calendar" - you only do practice on certain days of the week, you would remember if you had extra practice especially as the coach is lying to you?! 🚩 Instead she calls the coach "mommy" over the phone and says she's on her way.🚩
After "practice" they then go out to their cars together. Laura shoves her fingers inside Tia "up to her wrist". Not sure how this was an easy fit with no prep or anything?
BUT Laura then says:
Page 60 - "Mommy enjoys when you lose control. If you keep it up, I may have to kidnap you and take you home with me." 🚩
If your coach says this to you, do you:
a) Tell the dean (best friend's uncle)
b) Call the police
c) Tell her to go ahead
... It's C. Because Tia has really bad "mommy issues" and this is brang up so many times!
Tia and her best friend (Jazz) decide to go to a party that the basketball boys are hosting.
• First of all, the way Tia describes Jazz doesn't sound like she's a good friend at all. She talks about how Jazz wasn't popular in highschool and they're only interested now for sex.
• Second, Laura follows them in and comforts Jazz. Tia is then spiked. The Dean walks in. Where the fuck did he come from? How did he find out about the party?
• Third, the Dean takes Jazz (again they're family so that's fine). Laura goes "if you take Jazz I'll take Tia." - The dean doesn't even think to question, he just walks out?? Just because she's a female teacher doesn't mean she should be trusted with taking students home.
ANYWAY. Laura takes Tia to her house instead of Tia's apartment. She tells Tia to take a bath on her own despite her barely being able to stand so she's just crying in the bathtub. If being spiked is anything like being drunk then I know for a fact that she isn't going to be aware of anything going on.
Laura gets in the shower and baths her. Not sure why she needed to climb in but again she showered her and was like "yeah I'm not touching you" so it was fine. UNTIL IT WASN'T.
Laura's pov the next chapter talks about how she finger fucked Tia until she came. 🚩 That's straight up rape. You can't have Laura saying "I want to touch her but it would be seen as non-consentual rape" two chapters ago only for her to do it now. 🚩
Tia wakes up cuffed to the bed by her wrists and ankles. 🚩 She panics as doesn't remember last night. Laura says she's fine, nothing happened. 🚩 Then tells her she only cuffed her was because she was begging for Laura to make her come. 🚩As Tia asks to go home, Laura puts a ball gag in her mouth for being "disrespectful" 🚩 and whips her chest until she's red everywhere. 🚩 Laura then puts a strap on. 🚩
Page 92 - I don't have time to think about anything because she shoves all ten inches in me and my back arches off the bed.
^ Ten inches isn't going to go in that easily. No fucking chance. Plus Laura then just keeps going until she comes again. 🚩🚩 Before telling Tia to go to sleep.
A few hours later/next day, Laura walks into the room and takes the ball gag off Tia. Yes, she left it on the entire time. So Tia then asks to go home. Laura then says:
"I was going to let you go, Tia. But now, it seems like you want me to punish you. Fair enough."
^🚩🚩 What the fuck is she being "punished" for?! You kidnapped her and raped her!!
Then there's the next page:
Page 97 - "This lotion will make you tight. It's going to hurt having this dildo fuck that ass all day. See, naughty girls get the worst kinds of punishments. Good girls get rewards, and you won't be receiving one until you earn it." 🚩🚩

She only found out around mid-day that it was there because Laura had taken the remote with her and was using it on high settings. Every time she "tried to remove it" it would increase the settings? Not once did Tia think - where's the remote?
The coach calls her (not sure why they have each others phone numbers) as Tia is coming and asks why she's not at practice. Tia just goes "it wasn't on my calendar" - you only do practice on certain days of the week, you would remember if you had extra practice especially as the coach is lying to you?! 🚩 Instead she calls the coach "mommy" over the phone and says she's on her way.🚩
After "practice" they then go out to their cars together. Laura shoves her fingers inside Tia "up to her wrist". Not sure how this was an easy fit with no prep or anything?
BUT Laura then says:
Page 60 - "Mommy enjoys when you lose control. If you keep it up, I may have to kidnap you and take you home with me." 🚩
If your coach says this to you, do you:
a) Tell the dean (best friend's uncle)
b) Call the police
c) Tell her to go ahead
... It's C. Because Tia has really bad "mommy issues" and this is brang up so many times!
Tia and her best friend (Jazz) decide to go to a party that the basketball boys are hosting.
• First of all, the way Tia describes Jazz doesn't sound like she's a good friend at all. She talks about how Jazz wasn't popular in highschool and they're only interested now for sex.
• Second, Laura follows them in and comforts Jazz. Tia is then spiked. The Dean walks in. Where the fuck did he come from? How did he find out about the party?
• Third, the Dean takes Jazz (again they're family so that's fine). Laura goes "if you take Jazz I'll take Tia." - The dean doesn't even think to question, he just walks out?? Just because she's a female teacher doesn't mean she should be trusted with taking students home.
ANYWAY. Laura takes Tia to her house instead of Tia's apartment. She tells Tia to take a bath on her own despite her barely being able to stand so she's just crying in the bathtub. If being spiked is anything like being drunk then I know for a fact that she isn't going to be aware of anything going on.
Laura gets in the shower and baths her. Not sure why she needed to climb in but again she showered her and was like "yeah I'm not touching you" so it was fine. UNTIL IT WASN'T.
Laura's pov the next chapter talks about how she finger fucked Tia until she came. 🚩 That's straight up rape. You can't have Laura saying "I want to touch her but it would be seen as non-consentual rape" two chapters ago only for her to do it now. 🚩
Tia wakes up cuffed to the bed by her wrists and ankles. 🚩 She panics as doesn't remember last night. Laura says she's fine, nothing happened. 🚩 Then tells her she only cuffed her was because she was begging for Laura to make her come. 🚩As Tia asks to go home, Laura puts a ball gag in her mouth for being "disrespectful" 🚩 and whips her chest until she's red everywhere. 🚩 Laura then puts a strap on. 🚩
Page 92 - I don't have time to think about anything because she shoves all ten inches in me and my back arches off the bed.
^ Ten inches isn't going to go in that easily. No fucking chance. Plus Laura then just keeps going until she comes again. 🚩🚩 Before telling Tia to go to sleep.
A few hours later/next day, Laura walks into the room and takes the ball gag off Tia. Yes, she left it on the entire time. So Tia then asks to go home. Laura then says:
"I was going to let you go, Tia. But now, it seems like you want me to punish you. Fair enough."
^🚩🚩 What the fuck is she being "punished" for?! You kidnapped her and raped her!!
Then there's the next page:
Page 97 - "This lotion will make you tight. It's going to hurt having this dildo fuck that ass all day. See, naughty girls get the worst kinds of punishments. Good girls get rewards, and you won't be receiving one until you earn it." 🚩🚩

Pretty dumb book lol no real plot or storyline but a ton of spice. Didn’t realize it was FF which is not for me. Only reason I didn’t DNF is because it was short enough to read in one sitting.

Isn't it so romantic when your teacher(coach) threatens to sexual assualt you if you don't do everything as she says,and then stalks you everywhere and steals your apartment keys to put an egg inside your...(you know) and then use it in the morning when your bestfriend comes to visit you and calls you just to gaslight you about something that wasn't even true and fucks up with your mental health trough this whole book and keeps punishing you until you're dependent on her ,and makes you act like a child when you're around her after she r*pes you?????Oh and hey when people find out that they have been in a relationship they all blame the student for trying to "seduce" the teacher ,and the coach is kind of a hero beacause she was like "no it was my fault" like duh??and she only gets 2 weeks away from school ?????i have so many quates in this book ready for anyone that tries to defend this book to me ,this was a grow ass woman fucking up with a teenager's mental health that obviously needs serious help not a romance in any definition of the word

Speechless , on the edge of my seat anticipating what would happen from one second to the next , yelling outta pure frustration I almost threw my iPad right across the room, heartbroken one second and smiling and rooting so freaking hard the next . Those are only a few of the emotions I went through while reading Coach’s Pet by non other then the very talented S.J Ransom . She truly is such a queen who never fails to deliver the most wonderfully written and emotionally charged journeys . Student / Teacher/ forbidden romance/ oh so steamy moments, witty banter , twists eke turns , drama, love , passion , dark , raw and gritty , heartbreaking and heartfelt, phenomenal world building, characters that are so unique , so captivating and very multi layered you simply cannot stop yourself from falling hook line and sinker in love . I can honestly say that I have never picked up a book by SJ Ransom i haven’t adored . She truly is one of my absolute favorite authors. Coach’s Pet is a emotional rollercoaster, a must read , a 10/10

This is the second book to release in the Groveton College Series. It is a good read, if you are into overly obsessed characters, mommy kink, and extreme BDSM. I liked the story, but I will admit there were some things that gave me a cringe. The over obsession from both Tia and Laura hit the wrong way at some points in the book. Some spicy scenes seemed too unrealistic. Also referring to Tia as a teenage girl, gave me an icky feeling. I do like that the book tackles the issue of trauma, such as abandonment. The forbidden romance factor was done well, between Coach and athlete, just wish it had been a bit more of an issue when it was discovered. People seemed to mostly be ready to accept it, which felt a bit unrealistic, but this is a fictional world, so it makes sense when looked at through that fact. Overall, this is a fast and spicy read and if you are into the things I mentioned above you will adore it.

Laura is the volleyball coach and is immediately infatuated with Tia, her new student/player that comes with a ton of sass and abandonment issues. Laura can't help being drawn to Tia, despite the forbidden aspect and goes to many *ahem* extreme lengths to get and keep her. But with an ambitious captain on the team threatening to derail the relationship can they find their HEA?
I love reading the MD/LG genre, of which there are not enough books and this one really did it for me given that there wasn't much age play but a ton of spice. This will really appeal to anyone who likes their books on the darker side but also has just enough character development to leave a satisfying sweet ending.

#FFUnlocked! Good lord this was SPICY! I was a little nervous reading this at first, it is my first sapphic romance but SJ is one of my favorite authors so I knew she would take care of me (thanks mommy 😂)!
This book has everything a dark romance should in my opinion. Laura and her stalking, obsessive, controlling nature had me loving every moment and wanting to submit myself. The way that SJ interweaved that heartbreak into here had me on the verge of tears. And the spice... make sure you have batteries charged on your BOB before you read!
You'll devour it quickly because you just can stand to put it down! Fast-paced, BDSM elements that I would never agree to in real life but just can't help but love in books and I guess I need to venture into some more FF books now!

Wow. Talk about forbidden romance. Laura and Tia really brought the sizzle and steam. Laura/Coach uses her position to be the one that calls the shots. Tia is fine with being the submissive in the relationship.
I both was in awe and a bit fearful of Laura. The way she ordered Tia around was hot but at the same time there was that one scene where she was protecting Tia after an incident. In that scene she kind of made me think of Glenn Close's character in Fatal Attraction.
Looking for your next FF romance, look no further than this book. Coach's Pet is one spicy FF morsel of a read!

This was a fast paced easy read for me ! I read it in a day while at work! Age gap and forbidden romance so terrible it was good. I definitely recommend reading your trigger warnings and I didn’t and was a little shocked!
I wish we knew more about both Tia and Saura and had just a little more plot. If you’re looking for 🌶️🌶️🌶️ it’s there but there was no real character depth. This book is perfect for easy, dark, obsession, FF, BDSM read ! As much as I would have loved more plot it still sucked me in and made me wanna read the next book Dirty Dean.

I understand what the author is trying to say and perhaps this does it for some people, I'm not one of them. I find that un consensual sex is paramount to RAPE. Perhaps it was eventually desired however there are other ways to get to that point. I'm beginning to think this author is a man. If your into non consensual sex this is the book for you, even though the author tries to pretty it up buy having the submissive realising she likes being treated roughly I can't condone rape of any kind.
