The year is 2038, and Cass has spent nearly half her life on The Deliverance, hurling through space some 250 miles above the Earth. Her parents and the other scientists were supposed to be everyone’s salvation; sent up to create a cure for a plague in the space station’s zero-gravity labs. But something went wrong.
After the first three years, all communication with the surface was lost when a world war broke out in response to the apocalyptic epidemic. A one-year mission already extended far beyond what was intended, the inoculation was created too late.
Now eight years since it all started, their time has run out. In a decaying orbit, a small group of survivors is forced to the surface. Called The Fallen by those still clawing out an existence on Earth against all odds, they’re tasked with the monumental undertaking to bring their latest cure to the right people. What Cass and the others discover during their plight is a horror beyond anything they could have imagined and it may already be too late to save what’s left of humanity.

Thanks to High Gravity Productions and the author for this ALC - all opinions are my own
This is the perfect way to start a series. It feels like such a unique story. The plot was well timed. The action is nonstop and the storytelling was so well done I felt like I was watching the scenes play out like a movie. The multiple points of view were a huge bonus. I loved getting the story from so many different characters. And speaking of the characters, they each played such a different role in the story and were easy to connect to. And that cliffhanger…just wow!! I am officially on the hook!!
This is the first I’ve heard either narrator and I am very impressed. The way they both gave every different character such unique voices and personalities added so much to the experience. There were so many times during the book where emotions ran high, and every one of them came through in these performances. These narrators had me holding my breath during some of the more action filled and exciting scenes. They did such an amazing job that, as tempted as I am to get to the next book, I have to wait to listen to the audio version.
There has been a major pathogen outbreak on Earth and most of the people have died. There's a space station in orbit where people survive but the orbit of the station is decaying. The question becomes who will be able to get off the station and live and who will die as the station disintegrates.
The other question is whether or not the people who leave the station will be able to survive on the Earth. There's a lot of stuff that happens in relation to that including a beseecher general and a person sacrificing themself so the others can survive.
The escape craft does not have a soft landing. There's also the psychological aspect of things as the people who do survive have been on an enclosed space on the station for years and now they are on Earth which is way, way bigger and not something they have had to deal with for years.
There are a few people on Earth who survived the plague but they are not necessary really nice, to put it mildly. Then there's a major, major reveal at the end of the book.
I think it is pretty well done. The characters are interesting, the events not entirely impossible and the major reveal at the end is kind of shocking.
The top scientists and their families along with some military and government officials have been circling the earth for 8 years while trying to create a vaccine to combat a plague on earth.
Only 40 people are allowed in The Galaxy, a space shuttle that was supposed to transport wealthy vacationers to the Deliverance Space Station in earth’s orbit. However the Deliverance was used as an “ark” for these selected people to survive planet earth’s problems. Their mission was to find a cure or vaccine when the plague broke out on earth. While in space, eventually nuclear war took place and they lost all Contact with earth. Now they must evacuate the deliverance. Only there are 150 people on The Deliverance for those 40 seats.
Super different end of the world book. We are looking at a virus that ends 90% of the world. They send the best scientists up on space to figure out the cure... but have they?
The Fallen is a great start to a dystopian sci-fi series set in the near future. It bears slight resemblance to the tv series 100, but it’s darker and aimed more at YA audiences. The cliffhanger ending left me craving for the sequel. Can’t wait for the audiobook on the next one in the series.
Just finished this audiobook narrated by Tom Taylorson and Veronica Giguere. Their performances bring the intense storyline and dynamic characters to life, making it a captivating listen. 📚🎧 #AudiobookReview #ApocalypticFiction
Okay story. Unremarkable. It took me a while to get through this. It is reminiscent of the TV show The 100. But I just didn’t connect with the characters very well.
Dual Narration - Tom Taylorson and Veronica Giguere Good voices , dual narration done well.
This is an end of the world post apocalyptic book. It is interesting and keeps you locked in.
I’m very interested in the next book and what these characters will face next.
This book follows survivors after a virus that kills off most of the population, they send a group of scientists into space to try and find the cure. Years later a group of survivors return to the planet looking for salvation and trying to save the people who are left in space. Very different than my normal read but I enjoyed it.
This series is awesome! And the ending... OMG! Have to read more now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Must have more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh for
Tara Ellis's epic disaster novel The Fallen, starts with shocking scenes, after the desperate, rushed evacuation from space-station lab 'The Deliverance,' (and the planned return of scientists and leaders as saviours of a devastated diseased Earth) becomes a catastrophic near-failure.
Bereaved youngsters Cass, Dev and Bug, along with Kora their tutor and Andrew, their Army protector must face a hostile world of armed survivors - who will try to kill them on sight.
The thrilling action-led storyline is particularly harrowing, given the comparatively recent Covid epidemic, and most of the world's complete unpreparedness for it. This makes it relevant and all too possible, while the completely engaging, disparate characters and their backstories grip you firmly by the imagination throughout.
Read The Fallen today to see where the next part of the story heads!
The audio kept me into this story. I alc read this and normally I am not a dystopian reader. Th proformance of the characters was very good and kept my attention. I think this was a very well written story and will say kept my interest way more then dystopian i have read before. This reminded me of a show that my kids watched on tv and loved. So i will be making sure they read this one ! If your a dystopian reader this one has all you need with amazing characters, story, world build and twists and turns.
I enjoyed this audiobook. The dual narration is well done. An different take on post apocalyptic story. The world's best scientists are sent to space to create a cure for a deadly pathogen. A few select survivors must return to Earth and continue their mission to create a cure. I'm not a fan of cliffhangers but I hope to receive the next book. I need to know what is going to happen. Audiobook coming soon.
There were holes in the plots, a few typos, etc. The writing was decent but needs some maturing. Overall, it was a good first book for the author. I have faithet that she'll get better over time.
I enjoyed book one and am definitely moving onto book 2. Great character development. Smooth flowing without a lot of fluff. Not your average predictable post apocalyptic story. Creative and new spin within the genre.
Okay. So, this is like a 3.75. Not your normal doomsday. This is what would happen when all your efforts to make things better just blow up in your face and your left saying now what.
