Starship Lost #3
Primacy
War rages in their minds and their souls.
With each setback comes an opportunity. With each advance, a new retreat.
The Borwyn remain undeterred as they gather hardware and rally their allies.
It’s best not to fight from within a vacuum, unless that vacuum is space, and the fight is between starships.
The crew of Chrysalis are challenged afresh when their goal is changed in light of new revelations.
Jaq, Crip, Max, and the rest continue their fight against the Malibor in this fast-paced continuation of the Starship series.
***No part of this book was written by AI – a human author continues to fight the good fight.
This is the third book in the Starship Lost Military Sci-Fi Series from Military Sci-Fi Dragon Award Finalist and Amazon International Bestselling author Craig Martelle. It's perfect for fans of Rick Partlow, JN Chaney, and Joshua Dalzelle. Read it today.

I see my other lives, a career in the Marines, those damn hand-written tests in law school, a business consultant, as if they're stories from a book. I see my books as if I lived there, as if I were friends with the characters. All things we remember are behind us, only those we imagine lie before.
I'm not sure which place I prefer, but I don't have to choose. They live together in my mind. My books have some award nominations, they have bestseller tags across multiple countries. I write about justice, honor, and loyalty because that's what I care about. My stories are mostly set within worlds that haven't been, but could be. We have to be ready for when those times come.
No matter where I went, I always had a book with me. Thanks to 21st Century technology, I now have hundreds of books loaded on my phone and always with me. This breakthrough allows me to binge read my favorites. How many books would I have read on deployments had I not had to have a physical book with me? I paced myself so I wouldn't finish too quickly.
We aren't encumbered like that now. I love the works of Robert Heinlein, Anne McCaffrey, JRR Tolkien, Robert E. Howard, and so many more. I have been compared to Andre Norton and that is humbling - she was an incredible author with a huge list of novels to her credit. With every new book, I aspire to live up to those that you, the readers, have compared me to.
Through a bizarre series of events, I ended up in Fairbanks, Alaska. I never expected to retire to a place where golf courses are only open for four months out of the year. But that's the way it is. It is off the beaten path. My wife and I get to watch the northern lights from our driveway. Our dog has lots of room to run. And temperatures reach fifty below zero. We have from three and a half hours of daylight in the winter to twenty-four hours in the summer.
It's all part of the give and take of life. If we didn't have those extremes, then everyone would live in the sub-arctic.

YOU CAN BE KNOCKED DOWN, TAKEN OUT OF THE FIGHT FOR 50 YEARS, AND STILL COME BACK AND WIN THE WAR!
"Primacy" A Military Space Adventure book 3 in Craig Martelle's STARSHIP LOST series is a tell of a battleship that was knocked out of the battle 50 years ago, left barely alive to return 50 years later to pickup where their fight that their ancestors the Boreyn had lost the battle. The lost battleship CHRYSALIS and crew (the offspring of the original crew) are back to win a war that everyone back home thought had already been won by the Maribor.
Craig Martelle has again written another great book and series that is action-packed, will hold your interest from start to finish, and leaving you wanting to start the next book in the series the moment it comes out. You'll find yourself routing for Jaq, Brad, Crip, Taurus, Max, Deena, Bec, Teo, and the rest of the crew to overcome the challenges faced by one starship tasked with turning the war around and making the Maribor sue for peace so both sides can live in peace and freedom. I really enjoyed this book as well as the previous two books in this series and can't wait to read the next when it is released. I hope you will enjoy it also.

And now the battle truly IS joined!
No struggle comes without loss. As a former member of the military, Craig certainly knows this. This is no Monty-Hall spaceship easily marching across the interstellar landscape, easily wiping the board of all their foes (I recently learned that Craig is at Gary-Con this week and couldn’t resist the reference). With a sense of realism that nonetheless leaves a bouyant hopefulness and a faith in the final outcome in its wake, Craig reminds us that every victory comes at a cost, a price paid for in the blood of those who gave their all.
However, what you’re left with at the end of this book is neither bitterness nor anger, just that feeling of optimism. Who could ask for more from a tale of battles and war?
I’ve said this both of my previous reviews, but I’ll say it again: this is Craig Martelle’s writing at its most excellent!
(Addendum: the more I think about it, I think I may have very well said the exact same thing across each of his various previous series… LOL. But if so, it’s only because with each series, Craig’s writing and style has evolved and improved. This is not a man who is resting on his laurels. He is perfecting his art book by book by book, and it shows! )

3.5 stars.
The crew of Chrysalis decided on a two-pronged attack to reclaim their home planet. This means Crip and Max will lead their combat team on a dangerous mission to land on-planet using a captured enemy gunship. Their mission is to try making contact with any resistance forces that may still be around and joining them.
At the same time, Jaq will try to create a diversion by engaging with the enemy so as to give Crip and Max cover to fly through the enemy line. The book becomes split into two sub-lines with one following Jaq and her ship's battles with the enemy. The other follows Crip and Max as they try to make contact with any resistance forces. Personally, I find the landing party's experiences on planet much more interesting.

The battle is joined!
The Borwyn warship is planning to eliminate the Malibors' ability to fight back by destroying their fleet all at once! All they have to do is figure out exactly how to do that! But they'll figure it out. They have to. The Old Borwyn are getting to know the Borwyn from New Septimus and together they're going to free Septimus from Malibor control.
I love the characters, the romances, the friendships, the storyline and the storyteller! The action is intense and complex. At least one near sleepless night! I'm thoroughly enjoying this series and already have book 4 ready! This is s great read!

What if The Expanse was done in the 1950s? You would get this. The science is good. The bad guys are not even 2 dimensional. And then there is Brad. I’m surprised that the colony had not spaced this lecherous old man sexual harassing his way across the system. And the first time of trouble, he runs off because only he can fix it.
Space him. Please. He’s an idiot that should be cleaning the black water tank and never allowed on any bridge.
I’ve already ordered the next one. I’m sure it will have some good science wrapped in a vanilla Red Scare-flavored wrapper.

Review for the first 3 volumes of Star Ship Lost
I found Craig Martelle work nearly 5 years ago and he's a powerful, dedicated author. This series is a tale of a cruiser that was damaged in a battle with the Maldor that were invading Septius. For 50 years the crew saved the ship and Raised the children to continue making the ship better than every! Now the are returning to claim their home. Craig has the skills to create realistic battle scenes, with characters that's are as believable as our families in life on our home planet.
Fantastic writing.

even better than the last two books!
Thoroughly enjoying this series. It’s gritty and enjoyable. It started with one ship returning to the site of battle and now all the pieces that have been discovered or gained along the way are coming together- the conquered supply ship, the repair outpost, the scout ships, a Malibor gunship used to reach the surface of the home planet. Relationships continue to develop across the various people picked up along the way. Thank you!

He's done it again!
This is another Craig Martelle gem! Heroic people doing heroic things. A cast of characters that are all individuals, who grow and change over time. These are people that I would like to hang out with, share a Malibor meal pack, and joke with. Craig has created another galaxy that is unlike any of his other series. If you like anything by Cheney, Anderle, or any military science fiction, this is the series for you!

Near and far.
Plenty of action and surprises. With the combat crew on Septimus we have 2 fronts of action and intrigue. The team continues to rock on!

Good progression, but I keep waiting for an external protagonist to get the other point of view
